BitMine’s Chairman, Tom Lee, has shared his perspective on the recent surge of crypto-focused treasury companies and the future of this multi-billion-dollar trend. Related Reading: Ethereum Ready For ‘Rapid Expansion’ As Price Holds $3,900 Support – 30% Rally Coming? Crypto DATs Bubble Already Burst On Thursday, BitMine’s Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee joined Fortune’s Crypto Playbook Podcast to discuss the surge of Digital Assets Treasury (DAT) companies and why he thinks the bubble surrounding these vehicles may have already burst. Discussing the need for this alternative type to get exposure to crypto assets, Lee argued that DATS “are not just passive vehicles,” and properly executed companies will get capital and be supported by investors. He noted that companies like Strategy and BitMine, the two largest crypto treasuries in the world, both see several billion dollars of daily trading volume, adding that “the two companies combined are 86% of all trading volume for the DATs.” Lee was also asked about the argument that the trend is creating a potential bubble. Fortune’s senior crypto analysts questioned whether the bubble might burst and have a negative impact now that there are hundreds of DATs in the market. He affirmed that the bubble has likely already burst, at least to some capacity, and argued that around 80% of these firms are trading below the net value of their underlying assets. “If that’s not already a bubble burst (…), how would that bubble burst?” Nonetheless, BitMine’s chair explained that instead of questioning if a bubble has burst, he prefers asking if the market has become discerning, which he thinks it already has. BitMine, Not ‘Just’ A DAT? Lee argued that, while other crypto treasuries have not been creators of shareholder value, BitMine is “not just a DAT,” but also the largest holder of Ethereum (ETH) in the world. Notably, BitMine is a Bitcoin and Ethereum Network Company with a focus on accumulating crypto for long-term investment. The company aims to own 5% of Ethereum’s total supply, currently holding 3.03 million ETH tokens, or over 2.5% of the total supply. According to Lee, this gives BitMine multiple roles, including providing a significant amount of security to the Ethereum network. Based on these roles, he considers the company is “essentially a liaison between how Wall Street views future upgrades to Ethereum, to the community.” “So we’re not just a DAT. We’re becoming, you know, one of the important voices within Ethereum, and that really was our goal. You know, that’s why, when BitMine was created,” he said. Adding to his argument, Lee has previously asserted that the company is confident that the two “Supercycle investing narratives remain AI and crypto,” which will “play out over decades.” Related Reading: Bitcoin (BTC) ‘Uptober’ Rally On Pause Until This Level Is Reclaimed As a result, he considers that “Ethereum remains the premier choice given its high reliability and 100% uptime.” During the Podcast, BitMine’s chairman reaffirmed this stance, stating: “The tokenization of everything else, (…), is in the quadrillions. You know, especially as AI moves towards micro payments, which need to happen on the blockchain. That to me is a bigger opportunity, and (…) Ethereum is where a lot of this is going to be built. (…) So to me, there’s still an exponential opportunity in owning ETH over Bitcoin,” Lee concluded. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com

As BitMine continues to bet on Ethereum (ETH), the King of Altcoins is eyeing a crucial resistance level that could set the stage for a new breakout, leading some analysts to suggest that a new all-time high (ATH) is around the corner. Related Reading: TRX Repeats Its 2021 Setup: Volume Cooldown Signals Smart Money Accumulation Ethereum Ready For New Highs? On Monday, Ethereum rallied to a multi-week high of $4,718 following the start of the “Uptober” market rally that has sent Bitcoin (BTC) and BNB to new highs. Notably, the King of Altcoins has bounced 23% from the recent September correction, which sent the cryptocurrency’s price to a local low of $3,815. Now, ETH nears the upper boundary of its macro range high for the first time in almost a month. The altcoin has been trading within the $3,600-$4,800 price range since the early Q3 breakout, which also served as a crucial area during the 2021 ATH rally. After retesting the range’s mid-zone last week, some analysts suggested that a weekly close above the $4,200 mark would enable its price to reclaim the $4,600 area and position itself for new highs. Meanwhile, other market watchers noted that breaking past the $4,500 resistance would set the base for a challenge of the macro range highs. Since then, the cryptocurrency has reclaimed those two crucial levels, closing the week around the $4,514 area and currently attempting to turn the $4,700 mark into support. Amid this performance, Titan of Crypto highlighted that ETH has broken out of a “textbook continuation pattern” on its weekly chart. He previously signaled that the cryptocurrency needed to break out of its bull flag formation for a potential 50% run. According to the analyst, after reclaiming the $4,500 mark, Ethereum now eyes a rally toward the $6,900 target. Meanwhile, Crypto Jelle forecasted that ETH’s main target remains around the $10,000 mark. Per the post, Ethereum “looks ready for continuation” after breaking out of its multi-year bullish megaphone pattern and retesting its upper boundary as support. BitMine’s ETH Treasury Hits $13 Billion Throughout Ethereum’s recent correction and price recovery, corporations have continued to bet on the King of Altcoins, pouring millions of dollars over the past week for their ETH-focused Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) strategies. BitMine, the largest Ethereum-based treasury company, announced that it had increased its holdings in the past week. In a Monday statement, the second-largest crypto treasury in the world revealed that its ETH holdings had surpassed the $13 billion mark. In late September, the company shared it had achieved the 2% milestone of its goal to own 5% of Ethereum’s total supply, with a total of 2.4 million ETH tokens. Now, BitMine holds $13.4 billion in assets, including 2,830,151 ETH, 192 BTC, $113 million stake in Eightco Holdings for its “Moonshot” initiative, and unencumbered cash of $456 million. The company is also the 28th most traded stock in the US, the announcement noted, with an average daily volume of $2.5 billion, according to 5-day average data from Fundstrat. That holding is valued at about $8.66 billion using the same pricing used in the coverage. Analysts tracking corporate treasuries say that corporate and institutional ETH reserves together amount to a few percent of circulating supply, and BitMine is listed among the largest single holders. The figures can look large when compared with total ETH supply, but the share depends on which supply measure is used — circulating, staked, or otherwise locked. Market Mechanics Behind The Move Buying large amounts on OTC desks is common for public companies and big players. It reduces slippage and keeps big orders off public order books. The ETH here moved without obvious price spikes. Some transfers were visible on chain; the private terms of OTC trades usually remain confidential. Based on reports citing blockchain trackers like Arkham, the on-chain flows matched the size and timing described. Risk, Accounting And Strategy Holding vast amounts of a volatile token carries real risks. A sharp fall in ETH would hit BitMine’s balance sheet. At the same time, steady accumulation signals a clear strategic bet on future appreciation. Market observers compare this approach to other firms that hold crypto as part of their corporate treasury, and regulators and accountants will watch how such holdings are reported in quarterly filings. Reports cite Arkham and Strategic Ether Reserve as the primary sources, but OTC trades do not reveal full pricing details and the exact terms are often private. Ethereum continues to display resilience in the face of recent volatility, holding firmly above the $4,200 level. Despite this strength, ETH has yet to break decisively above $4,500—a critical barrier that would confirm the next leg of its uptrend. Instead, selling pressure is mounting as the broader market feels the weight of profit-taking and uncertainty, leaving traders on edge about the short-term outlook. Related Reading: BNB Chain Surpasses 650M Unique Addresses – Binance Adoption Continues Still, Ethereum’s fundamentals remain robust. Institutions and large players are stepping in aggressively, fueling confidence that demand is far from fading. According to analyst Ted Pillows, Bitmine, a major institutional player, has once again purchased Ethereum just hours ago, adding to its already sizeable holdings. This repeated accumulation underscores a growing trend of capital rotation into ETH, even as other altcoins face heavier corrections. The narrative of institutional demand provides a counterweight to bearish sentiment, suggesting that Ethereum may be better positioned than Bitcoin or other large-cap tokens to weather the current market environment. With fundamentals and whale activity aligning in its favor, Ethereum’s ability to hold structural demand levels could be a decisive factor in determining whether the next breakout above $4,500 materializes in the coming weeks. Bitmine Strengthens Its Ethereum Position According to analyst Ted Pillows, Bitmine has once again made headlines by purchasing another $65.3 million worth of Ethereum, raising its total holdings to an impressive 1.785 million ETH. At current valuations, this stash is worth approximately $7.71 billion, cementing Bitmine’s status as the single largest Ethereum holder in the market. This dominant position places the institution far ahead of its competitors, with holdings more than double those of SharpLink, the second-largest ETH holder. The scale of Bitmine’s activity underscores the accelerating pace of institutional adoption surrounding Ethereum. While Bitcoin has historically held the spotlight as the flagship digital asset for institutions, the recent trend of capital rotation clearly demonstrates a shift in market preferences. Large players are increasingly allocating capital into ETH, viewing it not only as a store of value but also as a critical piece of the future digital economy given its smart contract ecosystem, DeFi applications, and Layer-2 scaling developments. This aggressive accumulation also reinforces the narrative that Ethereum is emerging as the preferred asset for long-term strategic positioning. By consistently adding to its ETH reserves, Bitmine is signaling confidence in Ethereum’s ability to outperform in the current cycle. Moreover, the contrast with Bitcoin—where reserves and demand have recently shown stagnation—highlights Ethereum’s growing dominance in institutional portfolios. Related Reading: Bitcoin And Ethereum Exchange Inflows Overshadow Stablecoin Demand – Details Technical Details: ETH Consolidates In A Range Ethereum is trading around $4,406, holding above the crucial 200-period SMA but showing clear signs of indecision. The chart highlights how ETH has struggled to establish momentum above the $4,500 resistance, where repeated rejections confirm strong selling pressure. Despite multiple attempts, bulls have failed to trigger a sustained breakout, leaving ETH stuck in a sideways consolidation. The 50 and 100-period SMAs are flattening out, reinforcing the idea that momentum is cooling. Still, the 200 SMA near $4,280 provides structural support, and buyers have consistently defended this area in recent sessions. This suggests that while ETH is under pressure, its underlying bullish structure remains intact as long as it stays above this key level.
