CEO Sees Bitcoin Exploding 200x – Here’s More Based on reports, the purchases were made through Galaxy Digital’s over-the-counter desk and arrived in several chunks rather than a single block. That totals about 15,427 ETH, which sums to roughly $69 million at the prices reported. That holding is valued at about $8.66 billion using the same pricing used in the coverage. Analysts tracking corporate treasuries say that corporate and institutional ETH reserves together amount to a few percent of circulating supply, and BitMine is listed among the largest single holders. The figures can look large when compared with total ETH supply, but the share depends on which supply measure is used — circulating, staked, or otherwise locked. Market Mechanics Behind The Move Buying large amounts on OTC desks is common for public companies and big players. It reduces slippage and keeps big orders off public order books. The ETH here moved without obvious price spikes. Some transfers were visible on chain; the private terms of OTC trades usually remain confidential. Based on reports citing blockchain trackers like Arkham, the on-chain flows matched the size and timing described. Risk, Accounting And Strategy Holding vast amounts of a volatile token carries real risks. A sharp fall in ETH would hit BitMine’s balance sheet. At the same time, steady accumulation signals a clear strategic bet on future appreciation. Market observers compare this approach to other firms that hold crypto as part of their corporate treasury, and regulators and accountants will watch how such holdings are reported in quarterly filings. Reports cite Arkham and Strategic Ether Reserve as the primary sources, but OTC trades do not reveal full pricing details and the exact terms are often private. Ethereum continues to display resilience in the face of recent volatility, holding firmly above the $4,200 level. Despite this strength, ETH has yet to break decisively above $4,500—a critical barrier that would confirm the next leg of its uptrend. Instead, selling pressure is mounting as the broader market feels the weight of profit-taking and uncertainty, leaving traders on edge about the short-term outlook. Related Reading: BNB Chain Surpasses 650M Unique Addresses – Binance Adoption Continues Still, Ethereum’s fundamentals remain robust. Institutions and large players are stepping in aggressively, fueling confidence that demand is far from fading. According to analyst Ted Pillows, Bitmine, a major institutional player, has once again purchased Ethereum just hours ago, adding to its already sizeable holdings. This repeated accumulation underscores a growing trend of capital rotation into ETH, even as other altcoins face heavier corrections. The narrative of institutional demand provides a counterweight to bearish sentiment, suggesting that Ethereum may be better positioned than Bitcoin or other large-cap tokens to weather the current market environment. With fundamentals and whale activity aligning in its favor, Ethereum’s ability to hold structural demand levels could be a decisive factor in determining whether the next breakout above $4,500 materializes in the coming weeks. Bitmine Strengthens Its Ethereum Position According to analyst Ted Pillows, Bitmine has once again made headlines by purchasing another $65.3 million worth of Ethereum, raising its total holdings to an impressive 1.785 million ETH. At current valuations, this stash is worth approximately $7.71 billion, cementing Bitmine’s status as the single largest Ethereum holder in the market. This dominant position places the institution far ahead of its competitors, with holdings more than double those of SharpLink, the second-largest ETH holder. The scale of Bitmine’s activity underscores the accelerating pace of institutional adoption surrounding Ethereum. While Bitcoin has historically held the spotlight as the flagship digital asset for institutions, the recent trend of capital rotation clearly demonstrates a shift in market preferences. Large players are increasingly allocating capital into ETH, viewing it not only as a store of value but also as a critical piece of the future digital economy given its smart contract ecosystem, DeFi applications, and Layer-2 scaling developments. This aggressive accumulation also reinforces the narrative that Ethereum is emerging as the preferred asset for long-term strategic positioning. By consistently adding to its ETH reserves, Bitmine is signaling confidence in Ethereum’s ability to outperform in the current cycle. Moreover, the contrast with Bitcoin—where reserves and demand have recently shown stagnation—highlights Ethereum’s growing dominance in institutional portfolios. The chart highlights how ETH has struggled to establish momentum above the $4,500 resistance, where repeated rejections confirm strong selling pressure. Despite multiple attempts, bulls have failed to trigger a sustained breakout, leaving ETH stuck in a sideways consolidation. The 50 and 100-period SMAs are flattening out, reinforcing the idea that momentum is cooling. Still, the 200 SMA near $4,280 provides structural support, and buyers have consistently defended this area in recent sessions. This suggests that while ETH is under pressure, its underlying bullish structure remains intact as long as it stays above this key level. As such, market makers could hunt for liquidity at higher levels up to $4,500, where $2.8 billion in short positions could be wiped out if ETH reaches there. Market commentator Zerohedge also highlighted how the net ETH shorts are at new highs on the CME. Based on this, he remarked that these short traders are “generously providing liquidity into the new all time highs.” Notably, these shorts were at new highs back when ETH broke above $4,000 earlier this month. Meanwhile, ETH continues to see massive demand from the Ethereum treasury companies. The largest ETH treasury company, BitMine, yesterday announced that over the past week, it increased its ETH holdings by $1.7 billion to $6.6 billion. In the process, it added over 373,000 coins, increasing the total from 1.15 million to 1.52 million coins. Such purchases put massive buying pressure on ETH, which is bullish for the Ethereum price. SharpLink is rapidly positioning itself as a leader in corporate Ethereum holdings. The company is accelerating its accumulation strategy at unprecedented speed. Combined with its existing ETH holdings, the company might be on track to outpace every other ETH treasury holder in both speed and scale. Why SharpLink’s Ethereum Strategy Could Redefine Corporate Treasuries In an X post, CryptoGucci shared a short clip of Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin’s recent remarks about SharpLink Gaming. Lubin believes that the company isn’t just participating in the race, but it’s about to lap the competition. Related Reading: Ethereum Treasury Companies Go Head To Head As Bitmine Dwarfs SharpLink — Details According to Lubin, SharpLink Gaming (SBET) has rapidly emerged as one of the largest ETH accumulators on the planet, leveraging a strategy that goes far beyond simply holding ETH. The company actively manages its treasury to maximize productivity through staking, restaking, and compounding into some of the most powerful DeFi yield opportunities available. What sets SharpLink apart is its direct backing from the ETH company itself, which is a massive advantage that few competitors can claim. This relationship provides strategic alignment, insider insight, and access to key infrastructure, positioning SharpLink to move faster and more efficiently than any other treasury operator. The company is managed by some of the best DeFi investors in the world, combining institutional discipline with native crypto expertise. SharpLink’s approach is straightforward yet powerful. The process involves accumulating more ETH than anyone else, deploying it intelligently across high-yield opportunities, and generating steady returns while compounding for the long term. Why Ethereum Is Emerging As The Institutional Protocol Ethereum is gaining mainstream recognition at the institutional level. CryptoGucci has also shared a post where Cathie Wood, the founder and CIO of ARK Invest, laid out a bullish case for why Ethereum is becoming the institutional protocol of choice, which has captured the attention of the crypto and institutional investment communities. Related Reading: Ethereum Surpasses MasterCard In Asset Rankings, Bullish Targets Set Wood highlighted that major infrastructure developments are signaling ETH dominance. Coinbase L2 is built on ETH, Robinhood L2 leverages ETH, and the ongoing stablecoin that is predominantly occurring on the ETH network. Unlike Bitcoin treasuries, ETH treasuries offer both utility and staking opportunities, while creating a more productive institutional asset. ETH may carry slightly higher costs and operate at a slower speed than some alternatives, but its decentralization and security make it the most resilient and reliable choice for institutional adoption. This foundational robustness is enabling ARK ETFs to take their first substantial positions in ETH, while marking a pivotal moment for institutional adoption. ARK has also strategically invested in Tom Lee’s BitMine (BMNR), which is currently the largest ETH treasury in the world, while signaling an alignment between traditional investment strategies and Ethereum-based infrastructure. Wood concluded that the foundation of the next financial system is being laid out in real time, and it’s all happening on ETH. Featured image from Getty Images, chart from Tradingview.com
