Crypto funds brought in $1.1 billion last week, their strongest inflow since January, as inflation and geopolitical tensions eased.
As the crypto market bounces from the latest shakeout, Ethereum (ETH) and investment products based on the King of Altcoins recorded a remarkable single-day performance, potentially setting the stage for further recovery. Related Reading: Bitcoin Surge To $74,000 Fueled By US Institutions, Coinbase Premium Signals Ethereum ETFs Recover Amid Market Bounce Ethereum-based spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) recovered from Tuesday’s weak performance and recorded their best single-day in nearly two months, with $169 million in inflows on Wednesday. According to SoSoValue data, the category saw the highest netflow since January 14, when it drew in $175 million. Notably, the mid-January crypto market correction triggered massive outflows for investment products, with funds based on the two largest crypto assets, Bitcoin (BTC) and ETH, showing the weakest performance. Ethereum ETFs saw a five-week negative streak, bleeding $1.38 billion during this period. However, the funds ended their weekly outflow run last week after posting inflows worth $80.46 million. So far, the products have drawn in $197.35 million this week, potentially setting a base to register their best weekly performance since January 16, when it closed the week with $479.04 million. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, recently highlighted that the strength of crypto ETFs, despite growing geopolitical tensions and financial markets’ selloff, could be seen as “a victory for cryptocurrencies,” suggesting that some traders may be considering digital assets as a safe haven. Meanwhile, James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, emphasized that “recent client discussions have been almost entirely focused on identifying entry points rather than reducing exposure to the asset class.” ETH At A Structural Decision Point Ethereum’s price climbed 12% on Wednesday, its highest level since February 4. Amid the market recovery, the cryptocurrency reclaimed the $2,100 barrier and reached a one-month high of to $2,199 before retracing. The king of altcoins has been trading between the $1,825-$2,150 levels since the early February breakdown, unable to break past the upper boundary of its local range. Analyst Rekt Capital pointed out that ETH closed the month just below a crucial multi-year ascending trendline, which has served as macro support and a decisive directional point over the years. This places the price in a structurally bearish position, as it enables a monthly retest of this level as resistance instead of support. The analyst emphasized that if this trendline becomes a resistance, it would confirm a breakdown from the macro structure and increase the likelihood of a deeper move into a key horizontal zone and historical demand cluster situated around the $1,600 region. “If Ethereum rejects from the trendline and the current bounce retraces in full, that rejection would signal the trendline dissipating as support and confirm the breakdown scenario,” he stated. Related Reading: Pundit Says XRP Price At $100 Is Not Insane If You Understand This However, he noted that bearish continuation is not confirmed yet, explaining that if ETH manages to reclaim the trendline as support in the monthly timeframe, the horizontal zone and historical supply area around the $2,250-$2,500 levels could act as a relief cluster “where price may rally before the market determines its next directional move.” “For now, Ethereum remains at a structural decision point around the multi-year trendline,” he concluded. Crypto analyst Amonyx recently drew attention to a CNBC video in which XRP was described as the hottest crypto trader of the year, ahead of Bitcoin and Ethereum. This comes as the XRP ETFs continue to see inflows even as other crypto funds see outflows. Why The Altcoin Is The Top Trade Over Bitcoin and Ethereum In an X post, Amonyx shared the CNBC video in which XRP was described as the top trade ahead of Bitcoin and Ethereum. The analyst then questioned whether the market was seeing something or about to. CNBC’s Mackenzie Sigalos noted that the token was already gaining a lot of attention towards the end of last year, with investors piling into the XRP ETFs while the spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs saw outflows. Related Reading: What Happens To The XRP Price If It Follows The Amazon Trend And Begins Parabola She further stated that these investors likely saw XRP as a less crowded trade than Bitcoin and Ethereum as crypto prices declined in the fourth quarter of last year. Sigalos added that this trade had paid off, considering that the altcoin recorded a 20% gain at the start of the year. Meanwhile, she also touched on XRP’s use case and why it might be gaining so much attention. The CNBC news host noted that XRP and Solana are the two most popular altcoins right now and that XRP has gained prominence for its utility in cross-border payments. Sigalos also suggested that XRP, alongside Solana, may have an edge over Bitcoin and Ethereum in terms of having more room to rally to the upside. Regarding blockchain adoption, she noted that users and investors may be turning to cheaper, faster networks like Solana over Bitcoin and Ethereum, especially for payments and tokenization. The XRP Ledger is also gaining traction for tokenization, recently surpassing Solana in terms of tokenized value on the network, according to RWA.xyz. XRP ETFs Continue To See Inflows SoSoValue data shows that the XRP ETFs continue to see daily net inflows even as the crypto market wavers. These funds are currently on a five-day streak of consecutive net inflows and have notably only seen six days of outflows since the start of the year. They currently boast net assets of $1.02 billion, which represents 1.20% of XRP’s market cap. Related Reading: Analyst Says XRP’s $15 Target Has Still Not Changed – Here’s Why However, the XRP funds recorded lower inflows than the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana funds last week. A CoinShares report revealed that the XRP funds saw weekly flows of $1.9 million last week. On the other hand, the BTC, ETH, and SOL funds recorded weekly flows of $881.5 million, $116.9 million, and $53.8 million. At the time of writing, the XRP price is trading at around $1.36, up in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from Freepik, chart from Tradingview.com
Institutional capital has transformed the cryptocurrency market dynamics, changing who participates and how digital assets are traded. The arrival of spot exchange-traded funds, corporate treasury allocations, and access through major brokerage platforms has pulled Bitcoin and Ethereum deeper into traditional finance. Vanguard, for instance, reversed its long-held anti-crypto stance just a few months ago, allowing trading in funds that hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana. However, talking about bad timing, these cryptocurrencies have struggled in the months following that policy change. Challenging Months For Institutional Investors The entrance of major asset managers such as BlackRock and Fidelity Investments was a structural turning point for Bitcoin. The January 2024 launch of Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States opened the door for pension funds, registered investment advisors, and other conservative capital pools to gain exposure without directly holding Bitcoin. These ETFs have accumulated billions of dollars in inflows, with custodians now holding a meaningful share of Bitcoin’s circulating supply. Related Reading: Here’s All You Need To Know About The Bitcoin Price This Week However, the past few months have been really challenging for investors. Notably, the last month of inflows into Spot Bitcoin ETFs was in October 2025, when it was pushing to new all-time highs above $126,000. Since then, it has been months of net outflows, and this has weighed down on Bitcoin’s price action. Same goes for Spot Ethereum ETFs, which recorded consecutive months of outflows since November 2025. Vanguard clients are likely among those feeling the impact most directly. In December 2025, US-based investment management company Vanguard reversed its anti-crypto stance and started allowing trading of ETFs and mutual funds that hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana. The availability of these crypto products on a major mainstream brokerage like Vanguard was a milestone for crypto investing. Vanguard manages over $12 trillion in assets and serves tens of millions of investors. Unsurprisingly, the price action of Bitcoin and other top cryptocurrencies initially reacted positively to the Vanguard news. However, the timing coincided with a downturn across the entire crypto market, which has been having a red 2026 so far. Since Vanguard’s rollout, Bitcoin’s price has fallen by about 30%, while Ethereum, Solana, and XRP have fallen by about 40% in the same period. Is Institutional Involvement A Threat Or A Sign Of Maturity? It is clear that institutional entry has not erased the volatile nature of crypto markets. Bitcoin and Ethereum are still subject to swings in investor risk appetite, although this is now at a larger scale. Therefore, the question of whether institutions are killing Bitcoin and Ethereum is based on perspective. Related Reading: Why Investors Are Not Buying Bitcoin And Ethereum Despite ‘Low’ Prices The presence of regulated ETFs means that downturns are now absorbed by a wider set of market participants. Companies like BitMine and Strategy are still in the business of huge purchases. New investor bases like this can help sustain prices over time. However, one thing is clear: cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana are no longer fringe assets operating outside the traditional investment system; they now sit within it. This integration will even become more clear once the CLARITY Act is passed in the US. Featured image from iStock, chart from Tradingview.com
Ethereum’s outlook for 2026 has become increasingly contested after the most recent downturn in the entire crypto market. Earlier this year, research from Standard Chartered suggested that Ethereum could end 2026 near $7,500, a target that implies significant upside from current levels. However, recent price action, with ETH languishing around $2,000 and lacking clear bullish momentum, puts such projections against a very different realistic outlook. Standard Chartered’s Ethereum Long-Term View In a January research note, Standard Chartered’s digital assets team trimmed its medium-term outlook for Ethereum while keeping a highly optimistic vision for the years ahead. The bank now sees ether closing 2026 near $7,500, down from an earlier forecast of around $12,000, and expects the asset to climb to $15,000 in 2027, $22,000 in 2028, and eventually $40,000 by the end of 2030. Related Reading: Ethereum Price Is Not Going To Keep Falling Forever, Analyst Says According to the note, the change is due to weak performance from Bitcoin dragging broader dollar-denominated crypto valuations, even as the bank pointed to Ethereum’s strengths in stablecoins, decentralized finance, and tokenized assets as positives to hold on to. In the research note, digital assets analyst Geoff Kendrick noted that 2026 is important not just for price but also for Ethereum’s performance relative to bitcoin. Therefore, the most important thing for gains is a rebound in the ETH/BTC ratio to levels last seen in 2021. The Odds – Current Price Action Against Bullish Case The path from roughly $2,000 to the mid-$7,000s looks very tough compared to what it was at the start of the year. This, in turn, has seen the odds of the Ethereum price reaching $7,500 reduce drastically. Ethereum started 2026 on a good foot, with a rally to $3,370 in the first two weeks of the year. Notably, it failed to sustain this rally and has since fallen by about 40% in the past 30 days. Related Reading: Analyst Says You’re Not Bullish Enough On Ethereum – What Does He Mean? As it stands, Ethereum is now trading around $2,000, and the price has repeatedly failed to close convincingly above the $2,100-$2,150 zone in recent sessions. Although the leading altcoin is now back to trading above $2,000 after a break below during last week’s sell-offs, bulls are yet to establish any control of price momentum. On-chain data also shows the transfer activity surrounding Ethereum is pointing to elevated stress conditions. Fortunately for bullish traders, it is still too early in the year to rule out the possibility of Ethereum trading at $7,500 in 2026. Several things would need to change for an outcome close to Standard Chartered’s 2026 estimate to become plausible. One of them is the return of demand and steady inflows into Spot Ethereum ETFs. At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $2,025. Right now, the cryptocurrency needs to clear the $2,150 resistance and hold above it in order to continue the steady push up. Analysts point to tight liquidity and a broad risk pullback as BTC fell toward $81,000 and U.S. crypto ETFs saw over $1 billion in outflows.
Cryptocurrency markets have shown limited momentum this week, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum lingering in narrow price ranges. This price action comes on the heels of the US Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. Traders and investors appeared to have taken a wait-and-see approach, leaving the largest digital assets stuck in consolidation without any breakout in either direction. Fed Policy And Market Expectations The Federal Reserve chose to hold benchmark interest rates at 3.50-3.75% in its latest policy meeting on Wedensday, a decision that was largely anticipated by markets. Still, this meeting marked the first pause in policy easing since July 2025, ending a stretch where the central bank cut rates three times last year while assessing how the economy was responding to President Donald Trump’s combative fiscal and trade policies. Related Reading: Bitcoin Price Following The 2022 Fractal? Here Was The Previous Outcome By choosing to step back from further cuts, policymakers have now taken a more cautious stance before adjusting rates again. However, two governors dissented, preferring a quarter-point cut. Stephen Miran, as well as Christopher Waller, advocated for a 25-basis-point cut. The pause is continued caution about inflation and economic data, suggesting further easing won’t come without clear evidence of weaker economic conditions. In its statement, the Federal Reserve noted that the Committee is strongly committed to supporting maximum employment and returning inflation to its 2% objective. This kind of higher-for-longer message can dampen risk appetite, and cryptocurrencies, which are viewed as risk assets, are feeling the impact. Bitcoin And Ethereum Locked In Tight Consolidation Recent price action across Bitcoin and Ethereum continues to indicate a market stuck in indecision. Bitcoin briefly tested the psychological $90,000 level but failed to establish acceptance above it, slipping back into a narrow range around $87,000 to $89,000. Related Reading: Analyst Says You’re Not Bullish Enough On Ethereum – What Does He Mean? A recent rejection at $90,000 has limited upside follow-through and has kept both buyers and sellers cautious, as neither side has been able to take control. This lack of momentum is also reflected in steady outflows from Spot Bitcoin ETFs, which witnessed $28.1 million in outflows in the past 24 hours. Ethereum has mirrored Bitcoin’s behavior almost step for step. The price broke above $3,000 very briefly in the past 24 hours, but it has since rejected and is back to trading around $2,900. This movement puts it oscillating within a tight band without delivering a decisive breakout or breakdown. Interestingly, Spot Ethereum ETFs, on the other hand, had $28.10 million in inflows in the past 24 hours. Although on-chain indicators like increasing wallet participation show underlying engagement, those signals have yet to translate into a sustained bullish momentum. Profit-taking near the $3,000 resistance and uncertainty have continued to restrict short-term gains. As it stands, both Bitcoin and Ethereum seem likely to remain confined to their current ranges until a stronger catalyst emerges. Featured image from iStock, chart from Tradingview.com

US Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs finally broke their six-day losing streak on November 6, posting their first day of net inflows after nearly a week of continuous capital outflows. Data from SoSoValue shows that Bitcoin ETFs drew $240.03 million in new investments over the past 24 hours, while Ethereum ETFs gained $12.51 million. Solana ETFs, meanwhile, continued to show remarkable consistency, bringing in $29.22 million in daily inflows. That figure extended Solana’s winning streak to eight consecutive days of positive capital movement, even as other major digital-asset ETFs struggled to maintain momentum. A Strong Debut For Solana ETFs Data shows that Solana ETFs launched with around $70 million on the first day and went on to accumulate roughly $531 million in net assets within the first week. Related Reading: Institutional Investors Are Buying XRP And Solana At An Accelerated Rate While They Dump Bitcoin Although this is smaller compared to the $1.5 billion Bitcoin ETFs recorded in their first week and the $1.17 billion seen by Ethereum ETFs, it is still a remarkable figure for a newcomer that entered the market during a period of volatility and cautious sentiment. Despite choppy trading conditions, Solana’s ETFs managed to attract consistent daily inflows between $37 million and $70 million through most of the week before a moderate slowdown to around $9.7 million on the seventh day. Capital Flows Shifting With Bitcoin And Ethereum Struggles The steady inflows into Solana ETFs are notable, particularly because they are happening during a difficult stretch for the broader crypto market, one that has placed Bitcoin under pressure of losing the $100,000 psychological level. Related Reading: XRP And Solana Set New $3 Billion All-Time High As Interest Explodes Data from SoSoValue reveals that Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a six-day run of outflows between October 29 and November 4, totaling around $2 billion in withdrawals. The single largest daily outflow occurred on November 4, when $577.74 million exited the funds. Spot Ethereum ETFs also faced a similar pattern, losing approximately $837.66 million over the same period. The split between Solana’s rising inflows and the sustained outflows from Bitcoin and Ethereum shows a subtle but important modification in investor sentiment. Although, it is important to note that both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs witnessed positive flows in the past trading day, and bullish investors can only hope it continues to stay this way. Even so, Solana ETFs are in their early stages and still have a considerable distance to cover before matching the size and liquidity of Bitcoin and Ethereum’s products. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $101,482, down 1.6% in the past 24 hours, while Ethereum is trading at $3,336, a 1.2% decline over the same period. Solana ETF inflows are yet to reflect in the cryptocurrency’s price, as it is down by 1.4% and 15.3% in the past 24 hours and seven days, respectively, and is trading at $157. Market expert Orbion has advised market participants to sell all their Ethereum holdings by October. He analyzed ETH’s price action to explain why the altcoin could reach its peak by then. Why Investors Should Sell Ethereum In October In an X post, Orbion said that he is still bullish on ETH right now but that the plan is to fully exit by the end of October. He noted that the Bitcoin price has already recorded a 100% gain from the lows this year, showing strong momentum and institutional demand. Meanwhile, Ethereum has broken and held above $4,200, which sets the stage for a final push higher in the coming weeks. Related Reading: Here’s Why The $4,000 Level Is Important For Ethereum From An Options Point Of View Orbion claimed that the setup looks strong now, but every cycle ends the same way, in a fast and brutal manner when the top comes. The market expert stated that his short-term target for Ethereum is in the $5,800 to $6,000 range, if it sustains this momentum. This would represent a 300% gain from the cycle lows. The market expert expects Bitcoin to start showing signs of topping in late September, with Ethereum following shortly after, possibly in October. He predicts that by the end of October, BTC could be in the $55,000 range and ETH back to $1,400, which is why he is advising investors to take profits by October. Orbion remarked that this is not a bearish but simply how post-peak corrections have played out historically. He indicated that investors should start planning their exits from now because the markets don’t give anyone time to react when momentum dies. The expert noted that altcoins can drop about 20% in a single day as liquidity dries up. As such, market participants could end up selling into panic and not strength if they don’t prepare accordingly. Key Metrics To Watch For ETH’s Market Top Orbion stated that key metrics like NUPL, SOPR, and MVRV have efficiently signaled the tops in past cycles. He explained that NUPL at +0.75 shows extreme unrealized profit levels across holders, which the expert claimed is a major warning sign. Furthermore, the SOPR turning negative shows coins are being sold at a loss after euphoria peaks. Related Reading: Analyst Shares Where Bitcoin, Ethereum, And XRP Prices Will Be By 2032 Meanwhile, the expert explained that the MVRV being deep red means that the market value is far above the cost basis, which is unsustainable for an extended period. For now, Orbion is still bullish on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the broader crypto market because of the Fed rate cut expected to come in September. He claimed this will be a catalyst for crypto and that liquidity injections will fuel the final leg of the rally, although the expert warned it will be fast, lasting only weeks and not months. Therefore, investors have to start planning their exit before then. At the time of writing, the Ethereum price is trading at around $4,310, up in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from iStock, chart from Tradingview.com
Crypto bulls are eyeing $120,000 for BTC and $4,000 for ETH after this week delivered bullish cues across ETF flows and macro, an analyst says.
The Spot Ethereum ETFs have recorded significant outflows recently, sparking a bearish sentiment for the ETH price. These outflows also come at a time when the altcoin has dropped from a six-month high of $3,900 and looks to retest the psychological $3,000 level. Ethereum ETFs See Record Outflows Putting The ETH Price At Risk SoSo Value data shows that the Ethereum ETFs recorded a net outflow of $465.06 million on August 4, their largest outflow since they launched last year. These funds also recorded a net outflow of $152.26 million on August 1, which was the first net outflow after 20 consecutive days of net inflows. Related Reading: Ethereum Exchange Reserves Just Hit A New 9-Year Low Amid Treasury Accumulations These outflows from the Spot Ethereum ETFs indicate a wave of profit-taking, especially considering that the ETH price had rallied to a six-month high of $3,900 last month. Outflows from these funds are bearish for ETH as they can add selling pressure, with fund issuers selling coins to redeem shares. However, a positive is that these net outflows from the Spot Ethereum ETFs have been short-lived. Further data from SoSo Value shows that these funds recorded net inflows of $73.22 million and $35.12 million on August 5 and 6, respectively. This coincides with the rebound in the ETH price, which hit the $3,700 level in the last 24 hours. Another streak of consecutive net inflows for the Spot Ethereum ETFs could spark another uptrend for the ETH price. Moreover, the Ethereum treasury companies like BitMine, SharpLink, and the Ether Machine continue to create massive demand for ETH as they expand their treasuries. BitMine’s Ethereum holdings topped 833,000 ETH this week, making it the largest ETH treasury in the world. Will the ETH Price Crash Below $3,000? BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has predicted that the ETH price could at least retest the $3,000 level. He highlighted the Trump tariffs, which take effect today, as one of the reasons that he holds this bearish sentiment towards Ethereum. The crypto founder also indicated that there isn’t enough liquidity in the market currently to boost crypto prices. Related Reading: Pundit Says Ethereum Price Is Headed For $9,000 After This Broadening Wedge Retest However, from a technical analysis perspective, crypto analyst Titan of Crypto has predicted that the ETH price is likely to continue its uptrend soon enough and avoid a drop to $3,000. In an X post, he highlighted a Bull Pennant pattern, which puts $5,000 in sight for ETH. The analyst remarked that this pattern is shaping up on Ethereum and that if it confirms, then the technical target stands at $5,000. At the time of writing, the Ethereum price is trading at around $3,680, up almost 2% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Ethereum’s price action in the past seven days has seen it finally touch the $3,000 resistance zone for the first time in months. This interesting move comes amid growing institutional attention caused by the massive inflows into Spot Ethereum ETFs and Bitcoin’s recent climb to new all-time highs. Ethereum has gained over 17% in the past seven days alone, reaching a new local high of $3,065. Interestingly, bullish technical structures are starting to emerge that could send the ETH price soaring toward new all-time highs. Two analysts have now spotted classic bullish setups, both hinting at a significant rally on the horizon. Cup And Handle Pattern Points To $4,200 If Breakout Holds The first analyst, known as @CryptosBatman on the social media platform X, shared a daily candlestick chart of Ethereum, where a pure ‘cup and handle’ pattern is visible over the past four months. The pattern, which started in early March, shows a rounded bottom that dipped to as low as $1,400, followed by a minor consolidation that formed the handle portion. Now, recent price action has caused ETH to break out of the neckline around $2,850. A technical projection from this neckline points to a 45% move to a price target just below $4,200. Related Reading: Ethereum Is Already Outperforming Bitcoin In July, Is Altcoin Season Here? According to this analyst, Ethereum’s breakout from the cup and handle pattern has formed in the middle of powerful fundamentals. Ethereum is now beginning to outperform Bitcoin in terms of short-term returns, and exchange reserves have dropped to an eight-year low. These are both fundamental signals of strong holding behavior and reduced sell-side pressure. With these metrics aligning with the technical breakout, @CryptosBatman believes Ethereum could be next in line to break its all-time high, possibly before the end of Q3. Weekly Chart Echoes Previous 42% Rally Another crypto market technician, CryptoBullet, expressed a similar sentiment on the social media platform X. This analyst referenced Ethereum’s weekly candlestick chart to support his outlook. He pointed to the formation of last week’s massive green breakout candle that has pushed the price above a major supply-resistance zone around $2,850. This move, as shown in the chart below, mirrors the same structure that caused a 42% rally between February and March 2024, when ETH moved from the $2,900 level up to nearly $4,100 within a matter of weeks. Related Reading: Ethereum To Outperform Bitcoin: Buy Before Mid-August, Analyst Warns If that price action is replicated in this current setup, Ethereum could again be on track to test $4,200 in the next three to four weeks. This puts the timeline of a $4,200 price target sometime in August 2025. The projection is shown with the vertical price range box drawn in the chart above, which maps a 42% upside from the breakout zone. Interestingly, this projection relies on the $2,800 price level, which previously acted as resistance, now flipping to support and preventing any sustained retracements below the $2,900 to $2,850 range. At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $2,980, having reached an intraday high of $3,074. Featured image from iStock, chart from Tradingview.com
