Solana (SOL) is back in the spotlight after whale investors injected more than $1 billion into DeFi protocols, sparking a dramatic 500% surge in transaction activity across the network. Related Reading: American Bitcoin, Backed By Trump, Ends Nasdaq Debut Up 17% Data from CoinShares shows that inflows in Q3 2025 reached $177 million, pushing year-to-date totals above $1.2 billion. This sharp rise has positioned Solana as one of the most liquid ecosystems for staking, lending, and DEX activity. One notable whale moved 20,000 SOL from Kraken into Kamino Finance, later borrowing $3 million in USDC for leveraged positions on OKX. This reflects how institutional-scale players are increasingly using Solana’s DeFi ecosystem without selling off their core holdings, adding both liquidity and credibility to the market. SOL's price trends to the upside on the daily chart. Source: SOLUSD on Tradingview Why Transactions Are Surging Analysts point to multiple factors behind Solana’s record-breaking DeFi inflows and transaction growth. A key driver is the Alpenglow consensus protocol upgrade, which gained 99% validator approval. The upgrade slashes transaction finality to just 150 milliseconds, making Solana one of the fastest public blockchains. This speed advantage has already lured investors away from Ethereum, where congestion remains a problem. One whale address, previously known for high-value Hyperliquid trades, shifted $7.6 million from ETH into SOL, citing throughput efficiency as the decisive factor. Beyond technical upgrades, Solana has also attracted institutional interest through ETFs and tokenization initiatives, further strengthening its role as a preferred option for DeFi growth in 2025. What This Means for Solana’s Future With whales fueling inflows and Solana’s ecosystem achieving record adoption, market confidence in SOL’s long-term trajectory is strengthening. Transaction surges of this scale often precede deeper liquidity growth and sustained developer activity, two pillars of a healthy DeFi network. However, analysts caution that network activity needs to translate into consistent user adoption to maintain momentum. While speculative capital is accelerating short-term gains, the broader test for Solana will be sustaining real-world use cases beyond whale-led inflows. Solana’s futures Open Interest (OI) has reached a new all-time high. This record level of activity highlights growing demand and institutional participation in SOL, signaling deeper liquidity and confidence in its long-term role within the digital asset ecosystem. Derivatives Demand Highlights Rising Confidence in Solana In an X post, crypto analyst Tom Tucker has revealed that Solana Open Interest (OI) has reached a new all-time high of $13.68 billion, a key indicator suggesting that traders are placing significant bets on SOL’s upside. This record-breaking figure comes as SOL records a 17% jump to $217 in Q3, which is fueled by a major network upgrade. Related Reading: Solana Investors Cash Out Nearly $1-B As SOL Tests Key Price Level The Alpenglow upgrade, which was recently approved, is a major catalyst for this institutional confidence. Interestingly, this upgrade has reduced transaction finality from over 12 seconds to a blistering 150 milliseconds.  Solana has achieved a level of speed and efficiency that rivals traditional financial systems. Combined with a tested capacity of over 107,000 transactions per second (TPS), this performance boost makes Solana a prime candidate for high-frequency trading and large-scale institutional applications. As history has often shown, a high OI indicates that a significant amount of new capital is entering the derivatives market. Also, this accumulation of open contracts suggests a strong market consensus that signals a major price move could be on the horizon. SOL’s Strong Buying Pressure Solana’s rising prominence is a result of growing institutional flows and an exploding DeFi ecosystem. According to an analyst known as Gum, the key to capitalizing on this trend lies with teams that can build the right infrastructure and services to accommodate this new wave of capital. One of the major winners of this trend is Orca, a decentralized exchange (DEX) on Solana, which has focused on creating a more secure and reliable environment for large-scale investors.  Its new Wavebreak launchpad feature is designed to create a fairer environment for new token launches using anti-bot mechanisms, CAPTCHA, and on-chain permission to prioritize human users. By fixing the sniper bots issue and focusing on creating the right DeFi services, Orca is building the on-ramps needed to bring tens of millions of dollars into the SOL on-chain ecosystem. As the accumulation of open contracts grew, SOL experienced a slight upward move, which led to the liquidation of short positions. A recent post by SolanaFloor has confirmed a massive $22 million liquidation of short positions in the last 24 hours, as the token’s price surged above the $200 price mark.  Related Reading: Solana (SOL) Poised for Move – Can It Clear This Barrier? Cardano’s founder, Charles Hoskinson, has clarified why the blockchain platform was excluded from a prominent US government initiative meant to publish official economic data on public blockchains. Blockchain networks like Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and Optimism made the cut; Cardano didn’t. Hoskinson revealed during a YouTube AMA that the reason wasn’t technical or regulatory, but it was grounded in economics. Specifically, he said the integration fee quoted by Oracle specialist Chainlink was absurd, which made Cardano’s participation really unfeasible. Chainlink’s Absurd Fee As one of the biggest blockchain ecosystems, Cardano’s inability to participate in the US government’s recent blockchain initiative to bring macroeconomic data onto the blockchain took many crypto participants by surprise. However, while speaking at a recent surprise AMA on his YouTube channel, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson says the reason boils down to money.  Related Reading: Is XRP Coming To Cardano? Founder Sparks Speculation After Midnight Airdrop According to Hoskinson, the main reason was due to its pending partnership with Chainlink’s oracle integration, which is yet to be finalised because of the absurd fee charged by Chainlink. Hoskinson did not shy away from strong language: “They gave us an absurd number for integration. I said ‘f– it, we’ll handle it. We’ll figure it out,'” he said. Despite the frustration, he tempered his critique with respect. He described Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov as “extremely smart” and “a very good businessman”, someone who “sees the future” and, in Hoskinson’s words, is “sitting on a golden egg”.  Chainlink’s oracle solutions are very important for connecting smart contracts to real-world data. As such, Hoskinson’s metaphor acknowledges Chainlink’s powerful position in the blockchain ecosystem.  How It Stalls Cardano’s DeFi Growth Without a cost-effective oracle integration, Cardano’s decentralized finance landscape has struggled to keep pace with other blockchain ecosystems. To put this into perspective, Ethereum’s integration with Chainlink has allowed large inflows into its DeFi ecosystem, with about $13.4 billion in Total Value Locked (TVL) added from between August 2 ($78.222 billion) and August 31 ($91.595 billion), according to data from DeFiLlama. Related Reading: Cardano Price To Rise 300% To $4? Analyst Reveals When Meanwhile, Cardano’s TVL broke below $400 million in August, and daily active addresses have also fallen massively. At the time of writing, Cardano’s TVL is sitting at $367.91 million. The result is a disconnect between Cardano’s on-chain activity and ADA’s price action, which witnessed a steady increase in August alongside the rest of the crypto market. Nonetheless, Hoskinson is still optimistic. Talks with Chainlink are ongoing, and he’s determined to find common ground with Chainlink. He also revealed discussions with the team behind the USD1 stablecoin and hinted at potential collaboration with Aave, which he described as part of a bundle. If USD1 (already launched on Ethereum, BNB, and Tron) comes to Cardano, it could become the ecosystem’s largest stablecoin. Combine that with oracle access and lending support from Chainlink, and Cardano could strengthen its DeFi foundations significantly. At the time of writing, Cardano is trading at $0.8307, up by 1.1% in the past 24 hours. Featured image from Adobe Stock, chart from Tradingview.com

Solana (SOL) has staged a recovery after testing support at $195, with traders closely watching the $205–$215 resistance zone. A decisive break above this level could open the door for a surge toward $225 and beyond. Related Reading: Bitcoin Mirrors Historical Pullback Ranges – Healthy Correction Or Trouble Ahead? Analysts highlight that technical signals are aligning with renewed buying pressure from whales and “shark” wallets, suggesting confidence in Solana’s medium-term trajectory. Despite volatility in August, Solana’s price has held above the critical $183–$190 range, forming a base for potential upside. Futures trading volumes exceeding $50 billion further underscore the renewed investor interest. Analysts argue that if momentum continues, Solana could push toward $250 before testing the psychological $300 mark. Alpenglow Upgrade Fuels Institutional Confidence The biggest catalyst behind Solana’s bullish narrative is its Alpenglow upgrade, a game-changing overhaul that has transformed network performance. Block finality has been slashed to 100–150 milliseconds, while throughput now exceeds 107,000 transactions per second (TPS), outpacing Ethereum and even legacy systems like Visa. Key innovations include Votor, an off-chain validation process that reduces bottlenecks, and Rotor, a stake-weighted relay system that cuts latency by 40%. Together, they solve long-standing institutional pain points around speed and reliability. Validator costs have also dropped dramatically, from $60,000 annually to just $1,000, improving decentralization while opening the door for high-frequency trading, tokenized settlements, and real-time DeFi applications. For institutions, the 20+20 resilience model, ensuring operations continue even with 40% validator failures, cements Solana’s reputation as a Nasdaq-grade blockchain infrastructure. With 99.6% validator approval, the upgrade positions Solana as one of the most robust and cost-efficient blockchains available. SOL's price trends to the upside on the daily chart. Source: SOLUSD on Tradingview Whale Accumulation and Solana Path to $300 Institutional flows are echoing the bullish momentum. Galaxy Digital recently moved $103 million worth of SOL to Coinbase, sparking speculation about shifting strategies. At the same time, “shark” wallets have quietly accumulated at key support levels, reflecting strong conviction in Solana’s long-term growth. Analysts caution that failure to clear the $215 resistance could trigger a retest of the $190 zone, but consensus remains that a breakout is likely if accumulation continues. Solana’s price action has shown some sort of resilience in the past few days while much of the cryptocurrency market turned red. After surging past $210 to reach as high as $218 on August 29, SOL briefly dipped below $200 but quickly stabilized, outperforming major large-cap assets such as Bitcoin, which has been locked in a decline since August 14.  This has put Solana in an interesting position, and technical analysis shows its correction phase is constructive and could prepare the token for another breakout. Related Reading: A New Vision For Money: Hoskinson Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $10 Trillion Analyst Says Correction Is Important For Breakout Crypto analyst RLinda on the TradingView platform described Solana as stronger than the market. According to the analyst, Solana’s recent price behavior, where it managed to remain steady above $200 even after pulling back from a new multi-month high of $218, its highest price point since February. Although the multi-month high ultimately resulted in rejection and a downward move, Solana is doing much better than Bitcoin. According to on-chain analyst Ali Martinez, Solana investors realized close to $1 billion in profits immediately after the cryptocurrency broke past $210 before eventually reaching $218. Particularly, data from Glassnode shows realized profits spiking to over $911 million after Solana broke above this level. SOL Realized Profit: @ali_charts on X According to RLinda’s analysis, the ongoing correction is not a reversal but rather a consolidation stage and there’s likely going to be a liquidity test between $202.5 and $195.3. However, the analyst noted that the outlook will remain positive as long as buyers can defend the $200 level during this corrective move. This, in turn, will pave the way for a breakout from $200 up to $240.  Chart Image From TradingView: RLinda What’s Next For Solana? The last two times Solana broke above $200 this month, it entered into an ensuing correction that brought its price action below $180. However, the most recent break, which led to a peak at $218, has managed to hold above $200. The formation of higher highs and higher lows shows that sellers are losing their grip and are now unable to force the token back under $200. Therefore, the bullish outlook from here is the formation of another higher high, with RLinda pointing to $240 as the next target. Reaching $240 would translate to a new peak since January. However, RLinda also highlighted resistance levels at $216.5 and $220 before reaching this target, and then a final resistance at $244 should the higher high extend past $240. Related Reading: Ethereum Bullishness: Ark Invest Boss Scoops $16-M More In BitMine Stock On the other hand, the analyst also noted support levels at $202.5, $198, and $195.3. #solana #sol #solana price #solusdt #solana news #solana selling #solana analysis #solana investors #solana selling pressure

Solana is at a pivotal moment as the broader crypto market cools, with most altcoins in decline and Ethereum consolidating around key demand levels. While SOL has shown relative strength by holding firm near the $210–$220 range, it continues to struggle with the momentum needed to break higher. The $220 level has emerged as a significant ceiling, with repeated attempts to push through meeting resistance. Related Reading: Ethereum Leads Market While Altcoins Lose Ground – Details Fresh metrics highlight the underlying challenge: investors are cashing out as Solana climbs above $210, creating a strong supply barrier that limits upside potential. This wave of profit-taking has introduced headwinds, making it difficult for bulls to sustain rallies. Despite maintaining its footing above critical support, the persistent selling pressure underscores market caution and signals that investors are wary of overextension at current prices. Breaking convincingly above $220 could open the door for renewed bullish momentum, while failure to do so risks exposing SOL to deeper retracements. As the market tests sentiment across altcoins, Solana stands at the intersection of resilience and resistance, with investor behavior dictating its short-term outlook. Solana Investors Take Profits According to analyst Ali Martinez, Solana’s breakout above the $210 level triggered a wave of profit-taking that saw investors realize nearly $1 billion in gains. The milestone underscores just how significant Solana’s rally has been, with the asset climbing more than 35% since early August before encountering heavy selling pressure. This surge in realized profits is part of a broader trend across the altcoin market, where investors have been locking in gains after sharp moves higher. While Solana has shown resilience compared to other altcoins, the spike in profit-taking suggests that participants are cautious about overstretched valuations and are eager to secure returns after weeks of momentum. For Solana, the selling activity has created a clear supply barrier around $210–$220, limiting its ability to sustain upward momentum despite strong fundamentals. Still, the fact that investors were able to realize such significant profits highlights the strength of the prior rally and the role Solana continues to play as one of the most actively traded assets in the market. With SOL consolidating after its breakout and the wider altcoin market facing similar headwinds, Martinez suggests the market may now be entering a new phase. Instead of parabolic moves, this stage could be defined by digestion, redistribution, and positioning ahead of the next major trend. For investors, the near-term challenge lies in navigating this transition while keeping an eye on Solana’s critical support and resistance levels. Related Reading: Ethereum Demand Climbs As Monthly Transactions Hit New All-Time High Price Consolidates Below Key Resistance Solana (SOL) is trading near $201 after a modest pullback, consolidating just below the critical $210–$220 resistance zone. The chart highlights how this level has become a supply barrier, with investors realizing profits each time price pushes above $210, creating downward pressure. Despite this, Solana remains structurally strong, holding above its short-term moving averages and maintaining a steady uptrend since early August. The 50-day moving average at $189 and the 100-day at $183 are now providing solid layers of support, keeping SOL comfortably above its mid-term trendlines. The 200-day average at $168 is rising, reinforcing the bullish long-term structure. This alignment of averages shows that buyers remain in control, but momentum has clearly slowed as price consolidates. Related Reading: Bitcoin Index Highlights Two Accumulations And Five Distribution Waves This Cycle – Details For bulls, a decisive break above $220 would invalidate the current selling pressure and could open the door to new highs. #solana #sol #solusdt #solana breakout

Solana is currently breaking above an Ascending Triangle that could set a target of around $300, according to a cryptocurrency analyst. Solana Is Breaking Out Of An Ascending Triangle In a new post on X, analyst Ali Martinez has discussed about a triangle technical analysis (TA) pattern forming in the 12-hour price of Solana. The pattern in question is an “Ascending Triangle,” which appears whenever an asset’s price consolidates between two converging trendlines. Related Reading: Solana Social Media Hype Hits 11-Week High As Price Jumps 16% The special feature of the formation is that the upper trendline is parallel to the time-axis, while the lower one is sloped upward. This means that as the price travels between the lines, it observes its range shrink to an upside. As with any consolidation pattern, the upper line of the Ascending Triangle is likely to present resistance to the price, while the lower one support. A break out of either of these levels can signal a continuation in that direction: a surge above the triangle is a bullish sign and a fall under it a bearish one. Like the Ascending Triangle, there is also the Descending Triangle, which is quite similar except for the fact that its lower line is parallel to the time-axis instead. Generally, the probability of a breakout is considered more likely to occur beyond the resistance line in an Ascending Triangle, while in a Descending Triangle, a breakdown of support is more probable. Now, here is the chart shared by the analyst that shows the Ascending Triangle that has appeared in Solana’s 12-hour price: As is visible in the above graph, Solana has been trading inside the pattern for many months now and recently, it has been trying to break out of it. This attempt at a surge above the resistance line comes as SOL has been approaching the apex of the triangle. Usually, a breakout becomes more likely to occur as the price nears the end of the pattern. This is because the consolidation range gets quite narrow around the apex. The same effect may be in play for the cryptocurrency right now. In the event that the latest attempt does lead to a sustained bullish push, Solana may be looking at the $300 level, according to Martinez. This level is around where the 1.618 Fibonacci Extension level lies. Related Reading: Bitcoin Rally Over? The Solana blockchain recorded a steep revenue decline in the second quarter of 2025, even as its decentralized finance ecosystem expanded. A recent report from Messari shows that while total value locked (TVL) on the network increased, application revenue, referred to as Solana’s “Chain GDP,” fell sharply during the reporting period. Solana (SOL) is attempting to reclaim a strong resistance zone for the fourth time, which has led some investors to suggest that the rally won’t last long. Nonetheless, on-chain data suggests that SOL’s next leg up could be starting. Related Reading: XRP Shows Strength Amid $3 Retest, But Analyst Warns Of Potential Correction Solana Breaks Out Of Triangle Pattern On Thursday, Solana hit a six-month high of $216 after breaking out of one of its most crucial resistance zones. The cryptocurrency bounced 16% from Monday’s lows and reclaimed the $200 barrier as support on Wednesday, closing the day above this area. SOL briefly reclaimed this level during the early August breakout, but the recent market corrections dragged its price to the $175-$195 area. Amid Thursday’s rally, market watcher Daan Crypto Trades highlighted its performance, asserting that it is “at an interesting spot.” The trader explained that Solana is trading in a multi-month rising wedge pattern, currently nearing the resistance level that has held over the months. Notably, the cryptocurrency has been rejected from the pattern’s upper boundary multiple times since July, retesting the ascending support line on each occasion. Supporting SOL’s case, Daan argued that it has “been strong on the back of treasury vehicles being spun up and potential upcoming buying + frontrunning,” noting that “rising wedges are generally leaning bearish but in bull markets it’s nothing new for these to break towards the upside instead.” Based on this and the cryptocurrency’s recent performance, he forecasted that it would reach higher levels later this year. Similarly, analyst Ali Martinez pointed out a six-month ascending triangle pattern on the altcoin’s chart, which targets the $360 area. Solana retested the pattern’s resistance three times over the past month and a half, but ultimately failed to turn the $205-$207 zone into support. As the altcoin pushed past the $210 mark, the analyst raised the question of whether the ongoing breakout attempt will be successful or if SOL’s rally would be short-lived for the fourth time. Fourth Time’s The Charm? Martinez shared multiple technical indicators that suggest Solana could finally break out of this pattern and aim for the long-awaited $300 barrier. The analyst explained that the backdrop of social sentiment and on-chain positioning differentiate the current price move from the previous attempts. Unlike the previous breakout attempts, sentiment across the community is more subdued. “Historically, euphoric sentiment above the ‘230’ index level coincided with local tops, as excessive optimism preceded retracements,” he detailed. According to the analyst’s chart, sentiment is muted this time, which suggests “skepticism rather than crowded bullish positioning.” Additionally, around $1 billion in realized profits have been booked after the surge to $212, signaling that some traders likely remain unconvinced that momentum will hold during this attempt. He also highlighted that there are significant accumulation zones below $207, with multiple support zones between $165 and $206, providing a strong base to continue rallying, which contrasts with the lack of resistance above the $212 area. A confirmed breakout above $212–$215 on sustained volume would shift focus to the $300 target zone,” he concluded. As of this writing, Solana is trading at $212, a 17% increase in the weekly timeframe. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com
