From attaining a six-figure market price to a sudden market crash, Bitcoin has remained the major headliner in the crypto market over the past week. Among these rapid developments on the largest digital asset, blockchain analytics company Santiment has observed a massive decline in mining balance. Related Reading: Bitcoin Sets New ATH Above $104,000, Yet Investors Don’t Want To Sell Bitcoin Miners Offload 85,503 BTC In 48 Hours On Friday, Santiment shared a report on Bitcoin mining wallets activity in correlation to the asset’s price. According to the analytics firm, there has been a consistent decrease in the Bitcoin collective mining balances since April 2024 indicating that miners have been gradually selling their BTC or moving funds to another wallet. However, Santiment states these mining wallets have now transferred out 85,503 BTC, valued at $8.56 billion, over the last 48 hours, which represents the largest drop in miner balances since late February prior to Bitcoin’s surge to $73,000. Generally, increased outflows from miners could indicate a bearish shift in price momentum. However, the team at Santiment postulates the recent BTC offload should be considered a net-neutral signal with no inking on Bitcoin’s price movement.  This notion is based on Bitcoin miner balances showing a weak correlation with price for the majority of 2024. Moreover, non-mining whales and sharks continue to accumulate Bitcoin signaling confidence among investors in the asset’s profitability despite miner activity. Interestingly, popular crypto analyst Ali Martinez recently provided some update on this accumulation trend stating that BTC whales have acquired 20,000 BTC, valued at $2 billion, over the past 24 hours.  Nevertheless, the constant decline in miner balances remains an important concern for Bitcoin investors. Aside from an ability to induce a bearish sentiment, miners transferring out BTC may draw speculations over mining profitability, which is critical to sustaining the Bitcoin network. If the market bulls are able to produce a breakout, Bitcoin maintains a prolonged price rally that began in early October. Based on previous bull cycles, the premier cryptocurrency is touted to gain by an average of 38.86% in December, with the potential to trade as high as $140,000 before 2024 runs out. The latest on-chain data shows that a particular class of Bitcoin investors has been selling for profit in the wake of the recent price rally. The question here is — how much did they sell and how much impact could it have on the Bitcoin price trajectory? Bitcoin Whales Dump 30,000 BTC In Four Days — Impact On Price? In a new post on the X platform, prominent crypto pundit Ali Martinez revealed that Bitcoin whales have been increasingly active in the market in the days following BTC’s return to above $63,000. This on-chain observation is based on the drop in the total holdings of whales with balances between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC. Related Reading: Crypto Whales Buy $228 Million In XRP Following $5 Price Prediction According to data from Santiment, this cohort of Bitcoin whales has offloaded more than 30,000 BTC (worth around $1.86 billion) in the past 96 hours. Interestingly, this level of whale activity came after the premier cryptocurrency witnessed a price upswing triggered by the interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve. Whales — which typically refer to individuals or entities holding significant amounts of a particular cryptocurrency — are perceived to hold considerable influence over the market due to the size of their holdings. Hence, their buying or selling activities can precipitate abrupt price swings in the short term. The Bitcoin market has been under a considerable amount of bearish pressure so far in September, falling to as low as $53,000 at some point. The Fed rate cut seemed like the perfect catalyst to turn things around and spark a fresh bullish momentum. However, profit-taking observed amongst the large investors could stall this recovery. When whales sell off their assets, it often causes other investors to tread the market with caution, as they wonder what the large holders know. This can lead to heightened selling pressure or a momentary price pullback.  BTC Price At A Glance  Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that the Bitcoin price has made significant movement in the past few days. As of this writing, the flagship cryptocurrency is valued at $63,131, reflecting a mere 0.1% decline in the past day. According to data from CoinGecko, the value of BTC has increased by more than 5% in the past week. The market leader seems to be performing even better on broader timeframes. The price of Bitcoin (BTC) ended the week on a good note after making a late rally on Friday, September 13. This recent price upswing has led to talks about the Bitcoin price making a comeback following a horrendous start to September. Interestingly, the latest on-chain data suggests that the ongoing price recovery might not exactly be what it looks like. So, what then is happening with the price of Bitcoin? Declining Volume Suggests Bitcoin Price Is Still In Downtrend In a post on the X platform, popular crypto analyst Ali Martinez shared an on-chain observation that could offer insight into recent Bitcoin price action. The relevant indicator here is Santiment’s transaction volume metric, which monitors the total amount of a cryptocurrency transacted within a given time interval. Related Reading: 112,000 ETH Moved To Crypto Exchanges In The Past Day — Impact On Ethereum Price? Historically, the transaction volume metric can be associated with the strength and direction of the market’s price trends. According to Martinez, Bitcoin’s transaction volume tends to rise during periods of upward price movement, as the market is usually more active. On the other hand, BTC’s transaction volume typically decreases during a price downtrend, as market participants engage less in buying and selling activities.  As of now, the Bitcoin transaction volume continues to fall, implying that even though the Bitcoin price seems to be recovering, a definitive trend reversal has not yet occurred. This sustained decline in volume indicates market uncertainty, suggesting that the price of Bitcoin may continue to consolidate or even experience further downward movement. The reduced market activity could be associated with the bearish history of BTC in September, with investors likely choosing to navigate the market with more caution. Ultimately, this indicates that the latest Bitcoin rally may be short-lived, with the premier cryptocurrency likely not to build on its recent momentum.  Bitcoin Whales Realize $50 Million In Profit  It appears that some Bitcoin holders are not waiting for the flagship cryptocurrency to resume its bull run to cash in on their profits. For instance, on-chain data shows that some large investors accrued a significant amount in profit following the recent Bitcoin price rally above $60,000. Ali Martinez revealed in a separate post on X that BTC whales took advantage of the recent price spike to realize more than $50 million in profits. This is based on an increase in long-term holder whales’ realized profit (in USD), implying that old large investors sold their coins at a higher price than the acquisition price. This level of profit-taking can be a negative signal for the premier cryptocurrency, as large sell-offs can cause downward pressure on the Bitcoin price. Interestingly, the price of BTC has not made any significant movement in the past day and continues to hover around the $60,000 level. Related Reading: Time To Convert Bitcoin To Ethereum? Bitcoin has managed to record some price gains in the last week following a brutal market sell-off at the start of July which saw the crypto market leader lose 10% of its price on July 5.  At the moment, analysts continue to roll out observations and predictions that suggest that Bitcoin may soon pull off a market rebound and perhaps eventually embark on a highly-expected bull run. Related Reading: Institutions Grab Over $5 Billion Bitcoin in a Week: Are They Predicting a Mega Rally? Bitcoin’s ‘Rare’ Underperformance Hints At Possible Bullish Rebound  In an X post on Friday, prominent blockchain analytics company Santiment provided some intriguing insights into Bitcoin’s recent price behavior. Santiment stated Bitcoin is largely behind the S&P 500 and other equities in relation to price performance, a development which they described as a “rare sight” over the last three years.   As earlier stated, Bitcoin’s current massive price dip can be attributed to a large-scale market sell-off mainly by the German Government who have now completely offloaded their total BTC holdings valued at $2.9 billion.  Furthermore, the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox which collapsed in 2014, finally began the repayment of a $9 billion debt to creditors in BTC and BCH, the majority of which were expected to be sold, thus a prompting massive selling pressure. While Bitcoin showed some resilience this week gaining by 2.88%, the premier cryptocurrency still trails the positive price performance of the equities market on a larger timeframe. For context, Santiment explains that Bitcoin has declined by 19.4% in the last five weeks while the S&P 500 has recorded a 5.4% gain within that same period. However, as this development has been a rare occurrence in the last three years as both assets usually moved in tandem, Santiment suggests Bitcoin may experience a “bullish catch-up period.” Related Reading: Bitcoin Price Trajectory Remains Bearish, $49,000 Liquidity Zone Looms As Next Downside Target Bitcoin To Challenge 1.5-Month Downtrend In other news, crypto analyst Rekt Capital has noted that Bitcoin is currently battling to end a downtrend stretching over the last one-and-a-half month. During this period the premier cryptocurrency has lost over 18% of its price. According to Rekt Capital, Bitcoin has attempted to break out of this downtrend multiple times including three times in the last three days. If Bitcoin eventually pulls a trend reversal, the market leader may be set for full price recovery reaching as high as $71,000. At the time of writing Bitcoin trades at $58,170 with a 1.69% gain in the last day. However, this mild price pales in comparison to the comparison which has surged by 30.81% to a price of $5,615 in the last 24 hours.  Featured image from The Economic Times, chart from Tradingview.com

After a turbulent week for the crypto market, the drop in prices has left an opportunity for investors to enter new or double down on their various positions. Fortunately, the blockchain intelligence firm Santiment has identified some of the large-cap cryptocurrencies to consider. These Cryptocurrencies Are In The Opportunity Zone: Santiment Santiment revealed via a post on the X platform has provided an interesting outlook on the crypto market, stating that some digital assets are showing “buy the dip” opportunities. This is based on their Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratios, which measure the average profit/loss of all coins in circulation according to the current price. An MVRV ratio value greater than 1 indicates that the investors of a coin are holding a net amount of profits at the time. On the other hand, when the value of the metric is less than 1, it means that most investors of the particular crypto are carrying losses. Meanwhile, an MVRV ratio of 1 means that the unrealized profit on a blockchain is equal to the unrealized profit. Related Reading: Dogecoin Vs. Shiba Inu Vs. PEPE: Comparing The Profitability Of The Top Meme Coins Typically, corrections are believed to be more likely when profits are high, as investors are more inclined to sell as their gains grow. On the flip side, crypto holders are likely to refrain from dumping assets when they are in the red, leading to the formation of price bottoms. This forms the rationale behind Santiment’s Opportunity and Danger Zone investment analysis. In its recent post on X, Santiment mentioned that all notable large-cap crypto assets (except Toncoin) are in the buying opportunity in the short term. As shown in the chart below, the 30-day Market Value to Realized Value ratio of these assets is deep in the negative, implying there is less risk attached to investing in them at the moment. According to Santiment’s data, Dogecoin (DOGE) — with an MVRV ratio of –19.7% — has the best “buy the dip” potential. It is followed by Uniswap’s governance token UNI, with a Market Value to Realized Value ratio of –16.3%. To round up the top three is Litecoin (LTC), which bears an MVRV ratio of –15%. Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, is amongst the mentioned assets within the opportunity zone. Having undergone a steep correction in the past week, the MVRV indicator is signaling that the premier cryptocurrency might have bottomed out and could be preparing for a move to the upside. Crypto Market On A Downturn The crypto market suffered a massive decline over the past week, with the total market capitalization falling by nearly 8%. This market downturn seems even deeper on bigger timeframes. For instance, in the last 30 days, the digital market has shed more than 21.5% of its value. Recent on-chain data shows that substantial amounts of Bitcoin have made their way to centralized exchanges in the last few days. How could this impact the Bitcoin price? Bitcoin Price To Face Further Selling Pressure? In a new post on the X platform, prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez revealed that Bitcoin investors have been transferring their assets to centralized exchanges in recent days. The relevant indicator here is CryptoQuant’s Exchange Reserve metric, which tracks the total amount of a particular cryptocurrency held on all exchanges. Related Reading: Shiba Inu Army On The Move: 35 Billion SHIB Invade Shibarium It is worth noting that the value of this metric rises when investors are making more deposits than withdrawals of a cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, in this scenario) into centralized exchanges. Meanwhile, when the metric’s value falls, it means that holders are transferring their assets out of the trading platforms. According to CryotoQuant data, more than 14,000 BTC (valued at approximately $851.2 million) have been sent to crypto exchanges in the last four days. As shown in the chart below, the exchange reserve metric is at its highest level in nearly a month. Typically, an increase in the exchange reserve indicates high selling pressure, as investors often use centralized exchanges to sell assets. Consequently, the movement of huge amounts to trading platforms could exacerbate the downward pressure on the Bitcoin price. Furthermore, the exodus of significant amounts to centralized exchanges could trigger price volatility for the premier cryptocurrency. This would imply an increased likelihood of big price movements in the future.  However, there has not been any impact on the Bitcoin price in the past day. As of this writing, the price of the premier cryptocurrency stands at around $60,700, reflecting a bare 0.3% increase in the last 24 hours.  Price Rebound Imminent For BTC: Santiment Fortunately, it is not all gloom for the Bitcoin price at the moment. Prominent on-chain analytics platform Santiment has offered a positive outlook for the price of the market leader. According to the blockchain firm, Bitcoin’s recovery following dips in the past two weeks has been short-lived. Santiment believes that a price rebound is imminent for the premier cryptocurrency. The rationale behind this analysis is based on two factors; the recent negative sentiment from the crowd and the low relative strength index (RSI). Santiment said in its post: But note the continued negative sentiment pouring in from the crowd, indicating their patience is wearing thin. This, along with a low RSI of just 36, are strong indications a bounce is close. The cryptocurrency market witnessed severe bearish pressure over the past week, and the price of Chainlink (LINK) wasn’t an exception. The altcoin has continued to struggle with its torrid form, losing nearly 10% of its value in the last seven days. Interestingly, the bears seem to still be in control at the moment, with the latest on-chain revelation suggesting that there might be further downside for the LINK price over the next few days. Are Chainlink Investors Offloading Their Assets? Popular crypto analyst Ali Martinez revealed in a post on the X platform that huge amounts of the Chainlink token have made their way to centralized exchanges in the past day. This on-chain observation is based on Santiment’s “Supply on Exchanges” metric, which tracks the amount of a particular cryptocurrency being held on centralized exchanges. Related Reading: Little-Known But Important Dogecoin Indicator Goes Off, How High Can It Drive Price? When this metric’s value increases, it implies that investors are making more deposits than withdrawals of a cryptocurrency (Chainlink, in this case) into centralized exchanges. A decrease in the metric’s value, on the other hand, indicates that holders are moving their coins out of the trading platforms. According to data from Santiment, more than 18.77 million LINK (worth roughly $256.2 million) were transferred to cryptocurrency exchanges in the past day. This substantial transfer represents one of the largest single-day movements for the Chainlink token in recent months.  Interestingly, a report from SpotOnChain revealed that 21 million tokens were unlocked from Chainlink’s non-circulating supply contracts on Friday, June 21. Specifically, the contract transferred 2.25 LINK tokens were sent to the multi-sig wallet 0xD50f More notably, 18.25 million LINK tokens were sent to Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. This significant token unlock presents a case of supply inflation, which can impact the value of the token especially if a sell-off occurs. Moreover, these fund movements can precipitate an increase in market volatility and possibly lead to price fluctuations. Given the magnitude and destination of these transfers, there is a greater likelihood of increased selling pressure, which can drive down the price of LINK.  Is A Return To $12 On The Cards? As of this writing, the price of Chainlink is barely holding above $13.6, having declined by more than 3% in the past day. Meanwhile, the altcoin slumped 9% from about $15 to $13.5 over the past week, according to data from CoinGecko. If the recent selling pressure continues, then further decline might be on the horizon for LINK’s price. This could see the cryptocurrency make a return to around the $12 price zone for the first time in more than a month. The on-chain analytics firm Santiment has revealed that Dogecoin and Cardano are two assets that look “very bullish” according to this metric. Dogecoin & Cardano Currently Have Low 30-Day MVRV Ratios In a new post on X, Santiment has discussed about how some of the top assets in the cryptocurrency sector are looking like right now in terms of the Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) Ratio. The MVRV Ratio is a popular on-chain indicator that keeps track of the ratio between the market cap and realized cap for any given coin. The market cap here naturally refers to the simple total valuation of the asset’s supply at the current price. The realized cap is also a method of calculating the valuation of the cryptocurrency, but the twist here is that this model doesn’t take the value of all tokens in circulation the same as the spot price. Rather, this model assumes that the “real” value of any coin is the same as the price at which it was last transferred on the blockchain. Related Reading: Hard To Be “Too Scared Of Bitcoin Price Action,” Says Analyst. Here’s Why Generally, the last transaction can be assumed to be the last point at which the coin changed hands, so the price at its time could be considered to be its current cost basis. As such, the realized cap basically calculates the sum of the cost basis of every coin in circulation. One way to view the model, therefore, is as a measure of the total amount of capital that the investors have used to purchase the total Bitcoin supply in circulation. Since the MVRV ratio compares the market cap, which represents the value that the investors are holding right now, against this initial investment, its value can tell us about the profit-loss status of the market as a whole. Now, here is the chart shared by the analytics firm that reveals the recent trend in the 30-day MVRV ratio of six top coins: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), Dogecoin (DOGE), Toncoin (TON), and Cardano (ADA). The 30-day MVRV Ratio only includes the data for the investors who bought their coins within the past month. Thus, its value reflects the profit-loss balance of these new buyers. From the graph, it’s visible that the indicator is at negative levels for all of these assets right now, implying that the 30-day investors would be at a loss. This may not actually be bad, though, as Santiment notes, “the lower a cryptocurrency’s 30-day MVRV is, the higher the likelihood we see a short-term bounce.” At present, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP are seeing small negative values, suggesting that these assets may be slightly undervalued. The metric stands at just -0.6% for Toncoin, though, implying that TON is more or less neutral currently. Related Reading: XRP, Dogecoin, & Shiba Inu All See Negative Sentiment: Signal To Buy? Dogecoin and Cardano, on the other hand, stand out with their 30-day MVRV Ratios of -16.7% and -12.6%, respectively. These values are deep enough that Santiment has labelled these coins as “very bullish.” It now remains to be seen how DOGE and ADA develop in the coming days, given this potential positive signal in the MVRV Ratio. The Bitcoin price made a strong comeback on Friday after witnessing a significant amount of bearish pressure throughout the past week. On Wednesday, May 1, the premier cryptocurrency fell below the $60,000 mark for the first time in almost two months. On Friday, May 3, the price of BTC recovered above the $60,000 level, going as high as $63,000 in the past day. However, the question is – can the Bitcoin price enjoy a sustained rally following this latest resurgence? How Long Will The BTC Price Rally Last? In a recent post on the X platform, Santiment pointed to a shift in investors’ position and sentiment on the Bitcoin price following the recent surge above $62,000. According to the on-chain analytics site, traders on the Binance platform are “going from liquidated shorts to longs” after the latest price increase. Related Reading: Shiba Inu Stands Strong: Over 650K Wallet Addresses Still Profitable Amid Recent Price Drop While this shift in sentiment might signal renewed optimism in the premier cryptocurrency, Santiment sounded a warning bell for enthusiasts watching the Bitcoin price and looking to get into the market. The blockchain firm said in its post:  For the rally to continue, we don’t want to see FOMO rising too much higher than what it appears to be now. Source: Santiment/X FOMO, or “fear of missing out,” is a phenomenon where investors hastily purchase in-demand assets out of fear of missing out on potential gains. While it can drive the asset to a higher price in the short term, excessive FOMO often results in unsustainable bullish trends and subsequent downturns. What’s more, crypto prices tend to move in the opposite direction of the crowd’s expectations. Hence, if the majority of traders are betting on the Bitcoin price to rise, there is a great likelihood that the cryptocurrency’s value will experience a drop. Behind The Bitcoin Price Surge As of this writing, the Bitcoin price stands at around $62,871, reflecting a substantial 6% increase in the last 24 hours. The bullish momentum of the Bitcoin price has dwindled over the past few weeks, putting the progression of the crypto bull cycle into question. On Friday, April 12, the crypto market witnessed a flash crash, causing the premier cryptocurrency’s value to drop from $70,000 to below $67,000. This latest downturn underscores the struggle of the Bitcoin price to return to its recent all-time high of $73,737, which was forged in mid-March. On-chain analytics platform Santiment has identified a particular Bitcoin metric that may signal the resumption of the bull run. Bitcoin Bull Run May Resume If This Metric Falls In a recent post on X, blockchain intelligence firm Santiment provided an exciting insight into the current cycle and the price performance of Bitcoin. The firm pinpointed the Mean Dollar Invested Age metric as one of the indicators to watch as the market leader moves sideways. When this indicator is rising, it means that investments are getting more stagnant and old coins are being held in the same wallets. Conversely, a decreasing Mean Dollar Invested Age metric implies that investments are flowing back into regular circulation. This “falling line” also suggests an increase in network activity.   A chart showing Bitcoin's Mean Dollar Invested Age | Source: Santiment/X From a historical perspective, Bitcoin exhibited a falling Mean Dollar Invested Age line during the previous bull cycles. According to Santiment, this has been the case for the premier cryptocurrency in the current bull run, which kicked off in late October 2023.  The on-chain analytics platform, however, noted that Bitcoin’s Mean Dollar Invested Age line has been moving sideways over the past couple of weeks. This phenomenon is even more shocking, considering that the highly-anticipated halving event is about a week away. The Bitcoin halving will see the miners’ reward slashed in half (from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC). It is a bullish event that has contributed to the optimistic outlook – borne by most investors – for the premier cryptocurrency in 2024. From Santiment’s latest report, investors might want to keep their eyes peeled for the Bitcoin Mean Dollar Invested Age metric. And the bull run is likely to continue if the BTC’s Mean Dollar Invested Age line resumes its fall, which would imply that major stakeholders (like whales) are back to moving coins into regular circulation.
