On-chain analytics platform Lookonchain has provided insights into what may have contributed to the Solana price crash since October. The platform revealed that meme coin launchpad Pump.fun has sold a significant amount of SOL, cashing out almost $500 million since the start of October. Pump.fun Allegedly Dumps SOL Amid Solana Price Crash In an X post, Lookonchain suggested that Pump.fun has been selling SOL, as it appears that the meme coin launchpad has cashed out at least 436.5 million USDC since October 15. The on-chain analytics platform also stated that since October 15, the meme coin launchpad has deposited 436.5 million USDC into Kraken. Related Reading: Forget XRP, DFDV Exec Predicts Solana Price Is Headed For $10,000 Furthermore, Lookonchain revealed that between May 19, 2024, and August 12, 2025, Pump.fun sold a total of 4.19 million SOL ($757 million) at an average price of $181. Of that amount, 264,373 SOL was sold on-chain for $41.64 million, while 3.93 million SOL ($715.5 million) was deposited into Kraken. Pump.fun’s SOL sales are known to put significant selling pressure on the Solana price, thereby contributing to its crash. Notably, the Solana price has recorded one of the largest losses during this recent crypto market downtrend. SOL crashed from a high of around $220 in October to a low of $120 this month. This has occurred despite the launch of six spot Solana ETFs during this period. Bitwise, Grayscale, Fidelity, 21Shares, VanEck, and Canary have all launched their SOL funds and have recorded notable flows since launch. SoSo Value data shows that these funds have recorded cumulative net inflows of $568.24 million since their respective listings. Despite this, the Solana price has been in a downtrend amid significant selling pressure from SOL whales. Thanks to the crash, SOL is now down over 28% year-to-date (YTD). The altcoin is also down over 28% in the last 30 days. Pump.fun Denies Recent SOL Sales A Pump.fun spokesperson, Sapijiju, has indicated that they haven’t sold any SOL recently and haven’t contributed to the Solana price crash. In an X post, he described Lookonchain’s post as complete misinformation, as they haven’t cashed any sum. He claimed they were not involved in the transactions between Kraken and Circle that the on-chain analytics platform referenced. Related Reading: Institutions Have Been Buying Solana Every Day For 2 Weeks, Is $300 Possible? Lookonchain had claimed that during the same period, Pump.fun allegedly cashed out 436.5 million USDC, 537.6 million USDC was sent from Kraken to Circle. Meanwhile, regarding the 436.5 million USDC, Sapijiju stated that what is happening is part of their treasury management, with the USDC part of funds from the PUMP ICO, and with plans to reinvest the sum into the business. At the time of writing, the Solana price is trading at around $138, up almost 4% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from Freepik, chart from Tradingview.com
Pump.fun announced the acquisition of a leading multi-chain trading terminal to further expand its ecosystem, triggering a 10% price surge for the platform’s token, PUMP. Related Reading: BNB Reclaims $1,100 As Binance Founder Receives Presidential Pardon – New Rally Coming? Pump.fun Acquires Padre On Friday, Solana’s leading launchpad, Pump.fun, announced it had acquired multichain trading terminal Padre for an undisclosed amount as part of its “mission to tokenize the world’s highest-potential opportunities.” The platform explained that trading terminals have “captured most trading volumes in the ecosystem” for the past year. Therefore, the acquisition of Padre, which supports trading across Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Base, “was a no-brainer,” Pump.fun’s co-founder Alon Cohen affirmed. “Today marks another historic day for the PUMP ecosystem. What we’re known for is innovating, growing the market as a whole and creating the most retail-friendly products,” Cohen wrote on X. “But we have always wanted to find more ways to support and reward our existing, loyal user base, most of which uses pro trading terminals,” he continued, adding that “the Padre team has shown the most grit, execution capability and integrity out of any crypto team I have gotten to know.” According to the official announcement, Padre will function as usual, but users will experience significant upgrades in user experience, especially for tokens launched on Pump.fun. Additionally, the integration will improve data and speed, and offer better trading incentives. PUMP Breaks Out Of Bearish Structure Following the news, Pump.fun’s token, PUMP, became one of the best-performing tokens in the past 24 hours, jumping 11.6% to a one-week high of $0.0043. The cryptocurrency has been trading within the $0.0036-$0.0046 price range since the early October correction. Analyst Sjuul from AltCryptoGems noted that yesterday, PUMP was “in a bit of trouble” after retesting the range lows, needing to break out of a bearish structure to prevent a breakdown to lower levels. After today’s rally, PUMP “finally broke that structure,” suggesting that the range high should be the next target for the cryptocurrency’s price. A potential breakout from this range could set the stage for a retest of the $0.005 mark, a key support and resistance level during the Q3 rally that was lost during the October 10 pullback. PADRE Crash Drives Community Backlash Despite the PUMP rally, Pump.fun received some backlash after the acquisition. Padre’s users slammed the memecoin launchpad for one of the key changes listed in the announcement. According to the official X post, trading terminal’s token, PADRE, “will no longer have utility on the platform with no further plans for the future.” As a result, the cryptocurrency dropped 76% in an hour to a multi-month low of $0.009 before stabilizing at around $0.0139. As BNB’s price records a massive 30% rally, the BNB Chain ecosystem also experiences a remarkable performance, fueled by Chinese-themed memecoins launched on the Four.meme launchpad. Related Reading: BNB Flips XRP’s Market Capitalization As Price Hits $1,300 Record High – What’s Next? BNB Chain Momentum Steals Memecoin Spotlight Amid BNB’s run to the $1,300 barrier, the BNB Chain ecosystem is experiencing a memecoin frenzy, with multiple BNB Chain-based tokens gaining significant traction over the past few days. Notably, the ongoing momentum has seen tokens like Palu (PALU), 币安人生 (BinanceLife), 4 (FOUR), PUP (PUP), and CZ’s Dog (BROCCOLI) record massive rallies. According to DeFiLlama data, the BNB Chain-based memecoin launchpad, Four.meme, has overtaken Pump.fun, Solana’s leading launchpad, in daily revenue. In the past 24 hours, Four.meme has gained around $1.4 million in revenue, surpassing Pump.fun’s $885,420. Meanwhile, CoinGecko data shows that the Four.meme ecosystem tokens have surged around 88% to an overall market capitalization of $1.044 billion and a daily trading volume of $963.4 million. Nonetheless, the Solana-based launchpad continues to lead in higher timeframes, with weekly and monthly revenues of $8.34 million and $40.9 million, respectively. Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, highlighted the recent memecoin frenzy in the BNB Chain. On Tuesday, CZ acknowledged the “BNB meme szn” on X, affirming, “I didn’t expect this at all.” On-chain analytics platform Bubblemaps declared that the “BNB memecoin szn is real,” noting that over 100,000 on-chain traders bought into the new memecoin frenzy, with 70% of them being in profit. As the platform detailed, 21,000 investors have made over $1,000, while 900 have earned over $100,000 with the leading tokens. Meanwhile, 40 traders have made over $1 million, and one has profited more than $10 million. Can BNB’s Memecoin Season Last? A crypto community member weighed in on how long the ongoing memecoin trend could last and whether it was worth participating in it. According to the X post, the investor considers that the BNB Chain tokens frenzy might continue, arguing that “this time is different.” Following the rapid surge of BinanceLife, which has reached a market cap of $372 million in less than a week, the investor listed multiple reasons why BNB Chain’s memecoin season could last for a while. They argued that “CZ and He Yi won’t let this wave fade easily,” suggesting that they will “likely keep pushing it forward.” The investor pointed out that the ecosystem is more mature and capital is more abundant. Previously launched memecoins “aimed” for a Binance listing, while the new project’s exit path is clearer. “First generate hype through reposts, then launch on Alpha, followed by listing on Aster spot and Binance spot—each step driving upward momentum in a relentless surge,” they explained. Lastly, the investor argued that the rules have changed, as this Memecoin bull run is spearheaded by the Chinese-speaking community, who “stand at the crest of the wave” this time. “Those who embrace change swiftly profit first; Those with biases neither gain nor lose,” they concluded. After a terrible start to its launch back in July this year, the PUMP token has finally found its spark, managing to lead the recent market recovery. The Pump.Fun native token rose by over 140% over the last month, featuring prominently at the top of the gainers’ list during this time. A slowdown has since rocked the altcoin after this, but it may not be the end of the story. Pump.Fun Surpasses Hyperliquid In Daily Revenue In an interesting turn of events, Pump.Fun, the native platform behind the PUMP token, has overtaken Hyperliquid in terms of daily revenue. Hyperliquid, an on-chain perps trading platform, has been the third-highest on-chain revenue generator, right behind stablecoin issuers Tether and Circle. Related Reading: The Big PEPE Price Breakout: Falling Wedge Pattern Points To 64% Rally This meant that Hyperliquid was the number 1 decentralized finance (DeFi) platform and non-stablecoin issuer in terms of revenue, averaging over $2.5 million daily. Its high revenue generation was also instrumental in driving up the value of its native HYPE token. Part of its revenue went into token buybacks, pushing up demand for the altcoin. However, with the recent development, Pump.Fun has now dethroned Hyperliquid, pushing it into the fourth position. PUMP now reigns at 3rd position, after recording $3.12 million in daily revenue, compared to the $3 million generated by the Hyperliquid platform for the same time period. While Hyperliquid continues to lead over longer timeframes, such as weekly and monthly, the recent rise in the Pump.Fun revenue could have very bullish implications for its native token. Why The PUMP Token Price Can Benefit From This The rise in the Pump.Fun metric to flip Hyperliquid is bullish for the PUMP price in the fact that the platform also uses almost 100% of its revenue to actually buyback the token. This was highlighted by crypto analyst Kaduna in an X post, explaining that this could pump the price. Related Reading: The Dogecoin Bullish Reset: A Clear Roadmap To $0.35 According to Kaduna, the PUMP token is still massively undervalued at a $2.8 billion market cap compared to HYPE’s $14.4 billion market cap. He also points out that the streaming service on the Pump.Fun website is just starting, something which is also bullish for the platform. If the revenue continues and the buybacks are notable, then it is possible that the PUMP price is headed to new all-time highs. At the time of writing, the price is only sitting 30% below its $0.01214 all-time high that was recorded back in July. Featured image from Dall.E, chart from TradingView.com

Social Network Zora has seen its native token, ZORA, record a massive rally following a spike in user activity and recent key integrations, leading some investors to suggest that momentum will continue. Related Reading: Ethereum Bullish Fundamentals Clash With Short-Term Leverage Risks ZORA Hits New Highs On Monday, the native token of the decentralized social network Zora jumped nearly 50% to hit a new all-time high (ATH) of $0.145. The platform allows users to make social media posts into tradable tokens by automatically minting them, with over 2.06 million tokens created since its launch, according to Dune data. In April, the team launched its native ZORA token, airdropping 10% of the supply to early users. The launch received a negative response due to concerns of an unfair allocation and potential centralization. As the price nosedived within hours, some users considered the airdrop was “the biggest disaster with Scroll and Zksync” and the “biggest SCAM in 2025 so far.” Despite the initial backlash, the token has seen a remarkable performance since July, surging 1,573% in the monthly timeframe to hit a market capitalization of $438.9 million. Notably, its ongoing rally has been driven by numerous factors, including crucial integrations and large holders increasing their balances. Since mid-July, users can mint their tokens using the Zora platform without leaving the Base App, making it more accessible and convenient for investors. Following the integration, Base overtook Solana in terms of tokens launched. Moreover, Binance announced the launch of the ZORA/USDT perpetual futures trading pair with up to 50x leverage on July 25, a week after the Base App integration. The news fueled the token’s rally to its previous high of $0.09 on July 27. New Leading Launchpad? As noted by Base’s lead developer, Jesse Pollak, Zora led in tokens created by launchpads on Base and Solana last month, accounting for more token launches than leading Solana platforms Pump.fun and LetsBonk. The massive momentum was momentarily halted by the start-of-August pullback, which saw ZORA drop 50% from the July highs. Nonetheless, the token and the platform have seen a significant recovery over the past week, with its price rallying 128% and token creation activity surging nearly 27% since August 4. On August 10, the platform saw the largest token issuance since July 31, according to Dune data, with 47,743 tokens from 21,052 unique creators, seemingly driving ZORA’s Monday price breakout. ‘Onchain Culture’ Gets Momentum A week before ZORA’s launch, Coinbase’s Layer-2 (L2) Network, Base, faced backlash over rug-pull allegations after it promoted an unofficial memecoin that crashed by over 90%. As reported by NewsBTC, Base’s official X account posted an image with the text “Base is for everyone” and a link to Zora with the caption “Coined it,” sparking a speculative frenzy among the crypto community. Base explained that they had posted on Zora because they believe everyone should bring content on-chain and use the tools that make it possible. “Memes. Moments. Culture. If we want the future to be onchain, we have to be willing to experiment in public. (…) We’re going to keep bringing culture onchain,” the Base team argued. Related Reading: Ethereum Surpasses MasterCard In Asset Rankings, Bullish Targets Set Following Zora’s recent rally, market watcher Ansem highlighted that “Zora is currently the newest thing with the most momentum,” suggesting that “innovation will happen on base/abstract/megaeth/lighter & others,” instead of on the Ethereum mainnet. After hitting a new low two days ago, Pump.fun (PUMP) has jumped nearly 30% to a key resistance level. As the token attempts to reclaim this area, an analyst suggested that the bottom may be in, and a recovery rally is underway. Related Reading: Ethereum Celebrates 10 Years: Coinbase CEO Shares Vitalik Buterin Anecdote As ETH Eyes $4,000 PUMP Sees Rollercoaster Price Action On Thursday, Pump.fun retested a crucial level after its recent struggles. The token has been making the headlines for its constant bleeding, hitting new all-time lows (ATLs) over the past week. Notably, PUMP launched on July 14 and surged 70% from its Initial Coin Offering (ICO) price of $0.0040, hitting its all-time high (ATH) of $0.0068 two days later. However, selling pressure from large-scale investors and disappointing updates about the highly anticipated token airdrop halted the fun. Just a week after its launch, Pump.fun’s token fell below its ICO price and continued to nosedive below the $0.0030 mark over the following days. The cryptocurrency hit an ATL of $0.0028 last Thursday after the platform’s co-founder, Alon Cohen, stated that the PUMP airdrop would not be taking place soon. Since then, the token has dropped even further, hitting a new low of $0.0022 on July 29, nearly a 70% drop from the ATH. Nonetheless, PUMP has also been ranging between the $0.0024-$0.0029 area during the past week, attempting to break above this range three times. Over the past two days, Pump.fun has surged nearly 30% from the lows, breaking above the $0.0030 resistance for the first time in a week. The token surged 12% on Thursday to hit a weekly high of $0.0032 before retracing toward the $0.0027-$0.0029 area. Crypto analyst Altcoin Sherpa highlighted the recent price action, suggesting that PUMP has shown “some great strong moves lately” and a breakout and “hated rally” could be coming soon. He previously forecasted that the bottom would happen “relatively soon,” and it would likely be followed by “some sort of giga crime pump.” Pump.Fun Buybacks To Fuel The Recovery? The recent recovery appears to be partially driven by the platform’s buyback program and whales’ renewed interest in the token. Notably, a large-scale investor that previously lost $125,000 on PUMP purchased $3.16 million worth of tokens on Thursday. Lookonchain shared that a whale spent 17,542 SOL to buy $1.06B of $PUMP at $0.00297. Meanwhile, a community member noted that “PumpFun has pivoted to what seems to be 100% token buybacks. 98% of yesterday’s PumpFun / PumpSwap revenue went to buying PUMP today.” Similarly, On-chain sleuth EmberCNB detailed that Pump.fun transferred 12,000 SOL, around $2.16 million, to its buyback address on July 30. It’s worth noting that the memecoin launchpad started a repurchase initiative on July 16, when the token hit its ATH. Related Reading: Analyst Says Bitcoin’s Final Leg Is Near – Time To Be ‘Cautiously Optimistic’? According to the report, Pump.fun initially transferred 187,770 SOL, approximately $30.53 million, from its fee wallet to the buyback address. Since then, the platform has repurchased 3.828 billion PUMP tokens for 129,100 SOL, valued at $21.5 million. Nonetheless, an X user expressed concerns about the initiative, affirming that “it is erratic.” To the community member, the inconsistent buybacks are “not a good look (…) first day 10m (way above their revenue), then stop, then 1m, then stop, now 100%, they are just playing to see what gets the attention, then stop buybacks altogether.” As of this writing, PUMP is trading at $0.0027, a 7% decline in the weekly timeframe. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko is facing backlash from the crypto community over his comments about meme coins and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Yakovenko made these remarks against these tokens despite his network being home to most of the top meme coins by market capitalization. Crypto Community Reacts To Solana Founder’s Comments The crypto community criticized Anatoly Yakovenko following his X post, in which he described meme coins and NFTs as “digital slop” and ones that have no intrinsic value. The Solana founder added that, like a mobile game loot box, people spend $150 billion a year on mobile gaming, in reference to his ideology about meme coins and NFTs. Related Reading: These Two Bearish Scenarios Put Solana Price At $162 After Fakeout Crypto marketer Anastasiia Bobeshko described the Solana founder’s comments as being funny, considering the traction that memes have brought into the Solana ecosystem. She further noted that the network made $1.6 billion in the first half of 2025 thanks to these meme coins. Another member of the crypto community, Ethereum developer Hanniabu, had earlier echoed a similar sentiment, suggesting that the network would be nothing without meme coins. Null, a member of the BONK community, declared that the Solana network would have never been where it is today without meme coins. Yakavenko replied sarcastically, saying, “Absolutely. Without lootboxes, iOS would have negligible revenues for Apple.” Meanwhile, Crypto community member Art Chick asked the Solana founder if he had a problem with memecoin traders spending $150 billion a year on his chain, but they don’t see it as mobile gaming. Yakovenko responded and alluded to an earlier reply in which he explained that what is important is the need to monitor data, fix problems, use snipers, and work towards sandwich-resistant market implementations. Difference Between Solana and Base Meme Coins It is worth noting that the Solana founder’s comment about meme coins stemmed from when he criticized a comment from Base’s lead developer Jesse Pollak, who suggested that Zora meme coins (which are Base tokens) are more valuable than those from Solana’s Pump.fun. In response, Yakovenko asked Pollak if Zora coins have any claims on future cash flows from creators, something which Pump.fun has. Related Reading: Top Meme Coins Stealing The Spotlight As Bitcoin Price Hits $118,000 ATH Pollak then clarified that each coin’s value depends on their fundamentals, which is why he believes that not all meme coins are the same. However, the Solana founder doesn’t believe meme coins as a whole have any “intrinsic value.” Despite his comment, these meme coins, especially the top ones like Fartcoin, BONK, PENGU, and TRUMP, continue to contribute to a significant amount of the daily trading volume on the network. Notably, the Solana price surged to a new all-time high (ATH) of $294 in January, around the time the TRUMP meme coin first launched. SOL witnessed a significant surge in its demand at the time, with investors requiring the altcoin to purchase the meme coin. At the time of writing, the Solana price is trading at around $183, down over 5% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Solana-based memecoin launchpad Pump.fun has made the headlines again after its recently launched token, PUMP, plummeted to new lows. The nosedive follows a recent update on the token’s highly anticipated airdrop and its legal troubles. Related Reading: Dogecoin Retests Crucial Support Following 8.6% Drop – Here Are The Levels To Watch PUMP Token Loses $1 Billion MC Just over a week after launch, Pump.fun’s official token has hit a new all-time low (ATL), reaching the $0.0028 area and dropping below the $1 billion market capitalization for the first time since its initial Coin Offering (ICO). Pump.fun was launched in January 2024 to facilitate and simplify the deployment of tokens. The Solana-based platform quickly became the leading memecoin launchpad in the crypto market, fueling this cycle’s memecoin frenzy. According to Dune data, the launchpad has deployed nearly 12 million tokens over the last 18 months and generated a Total Revenue of over $775 million. After announcing its official token in early June, the platform’s PUMP rollout had a bumpy road, as its official X account was suspended mid-month. The token’s public sale was also pushed nearly three weeks from its original June 25 date. Nonetheless, Pump.fun recorded a highly successful sale two weeks ago, raising $600 million in just 12 minutes. Two days after its launch, PUMP surged around 70% from its ICO price, reaching an all-time high (ATH) of $0.0068 on July 16. Since then, investors have seen a 57.9% price drop, with 25% of its decline occurring in the past 24 hours. The violent correction has been partially fueled by the recent update of PUMP’s upcoming airdrop. In the token announcement, Pump.fun stated that an airdrop was “coming soon,” but didn’t offer further details. On Wednesday night, the platform’s co-founder, Alon Cohen, confirmed that there will be a token airdrop but revealed it “is not going to take place in the near future,” which ignited massive backlash from the community and sent the token into its current nosedive. Community Slams Pump.fun Team Several X users have expressed their concerns and discontent with Pump.fun’s team, with some claiming that it is “easily one of the worst charts out right now” as “PUMP is trading like the devs already gave up.” Another user stated that “the way PUMP is performing post-TGE is 100% on the team. Only in crypto you can sell a ‘utility coin’ for $1.3B in cash and a week later no one still has a clue what those utilities even are lol.” Some community members remain hopeful that the cryptocurrency will reverse. Market watcher Bren Trades considers that “The crowd is grave dancing on PUMP. Just like they did with PENGU And we saw how that played out.” He noted that “If you’ve been here for a while, you know these post-launch dump outs are commonplace.” Meanwhile, crypto analyst Altcoin Sherpa wrote on X that “joking aside, I actually do think that PUMP bottoms relatively soon. I am expecting some sort of giga crime pump eventually.” Legal Drama Intensifies In January, Burwick Law filed a class-action lawsuit against the platform, alleging it acted as an unregistered securities exchange. According to the original complaint, users have suffered massive losses due to their tokens’ price plunging after the hype died down. On Wednesday, the law firm filed an amended lawsuit in the Southern District of New York against the platform and some of its Solana partners, including Solana Labs, the Solana Foundation, Jito Labs, and the Jito Foundation. Pump.fun, the Solana-based platform enabling users to easily launch and trade custom tokens—especially meme coins—has just marked a historic milestone. On Saturday, Pump.fun raised over $500 million during its highly anticipated PUMP token public sale. In an astonishing show of demand, the sale sold out in only 12 minutes, highlighting the project’s explosive growth and rising popularity across the crypto space. Related Reading: Bitcoin Dominance Continues Historic Climb – Altcoins Struggle To Gain Ground Designed for accessibility, Pump.fun allows virtually anyone to create tradable tokens with little to no technical background, democratizing the meme coin economy. As the broader crypto market gains momentum, investors are increasingly turning to innovative platforms like Pump.fun to capture early-stage upside and participate in speculative narratives. With the public sale now closed, the PUMP token is entering its distribution phase. The community’s overwhelming enthusiasm for the project underscores a renewed appetite for high-risk, high-reward opportunities, especially on scalable, low-cost ecosystems like Solana. As liquidity rotates and meme narratives strengthen, Pump.fun appears poised to ride the next wave of speculative fervor. The question now is how the project will evolve post-sale, and whether it can sustain attention in an increasingly competitive memecoin landscape. Pump.fun Enters Distribution Phase After $4 Billion Valuation Following a record-breaking public sale, Pump.fun is now entering its next crucial phase. The Solana-based platform successfully sold 125 billion PUMP tokens at a fixed price of $0.004 each, pushing the project to a staggering $4 billion valuation. In just 12 minutes, the token sale closed, signaling overwhelming interest from both retail investors and speculators eager to participate in the next wave of memecoin mania. Over the next 48 to 72 hours, the PUMP tokens purchased via token.pump.fun will be distributed to all participants. During this period, the tokens will remain untradable and untransferable to ensure a secure and orderly allocation process. The team has stated that a formal announcement will be made once the distribution is complete and trading becomes active. Pump.fun has gained traction for allowing users to mint and list custom tokens with just a few clicks. Once a newly created token reaches a certain liquidity or trading threshold, it gets automatically listed on decentralized exchanges. This enables price discovery and broader exposure. This simplicity has fueled Pump.fun’s meteoric rise, attracting thousands of users who see it as a launchpad for the next viral asset. However, the coming weeks will be a critical test. As the PUMP token becomes tradable, investor behavior, price volatility, and platform growth will determine whether this momentum turns into lasting adoption or fades as just another memecoin moment. With a multi-billion-dollar valuation already on the books, the pressure is on for Pump.fun to deliver. According to on-chain tracker Lookonchain and explorer Hypurrscan, the structure of these positions, utilizing low leverage and modest open interest compared to margin collateral, suggests a defensive rather than speculative stance. One wallet, identified as “0xAc72,” allocated $4 million in margin and opened a 2x leveraged short valued at approximately $1.07 million at an entry price of $0.00504. This trader’s liquidation point sits at $0.02138, offering a wide buffer that implies the position is less about profit from a downturn and more about offsetting potential downside risk from PUMP exposure in the ICO. Two additional wallets deployed a combined $7 million in margin to open 1x leveraged shorts. Together, these positions amount to roughly $2.39 million in open interest, a small portion of their posted collateral. Hyperliquid’s open interest in PUMP has surpassed $43 million since listing the token in the early hours of Thursday’s European session. Binance followed suit by listing a PUMP perpetual contract, which quickly amassed over $12 billion in trading volume, indicating heightened market anticipation. It is worth noting that the early trading could serve multiple purposes, including valuation locking by whales, arbitrage strategies related to expected airdrops, or speculative profit-taking based on retail momentum. Pump.fun Token Launch Nears as Pricing Premium Narrows The PUMP token initially debuted in pre-market trading at a roughly 40% premium to its ICO price of $0.004. It reached a high of $0.0056 on Hyperliquid before retreating to around $0.0047 levels, a level closer to its public sale valuation. The narrowing premium suggests a recalibration in investor expectations as trading stabilizes ahead of the launch. Pump.fun, a meme-coin launchpad built on Solana, announced the token in June alongside a revenue-sharing initiative for token holders. The token has a total supply of 1 trillion, with 33% allocated to early participants via a private sale (18%) and public sale (15%). The ICO will run from July 12 to July 15 on crypto exchange Bybit, providing a limited window for broader participation. Solana meme coin launchpad Pump.fun has lost a significant chunk of its market share to LetsBonk.fun. This comes just ahead of the former’s token generation event, in which the launchpad could raise up to $4 billion. Solana’s Pump.fun Loses Dominance To LetsBonk.fun In an X post, Solana News revealed that Pump.fun has hit a new all-time low with just a 36% market share, while LetsBonk.fun’s market share has surged to 54%. Jup data also confirms this development. At press time, LetsBonk boasts a market share of 48.90%, with a 24-hour trading volume of $539 million. On the other hand, Pump boasts a market share of 39.80%, with a 24-hour trading volume of $438 million. Related Reading: Analyst Says Buying This Meme Coin Is A 3X Leveraged Play If Solana ETFs Go Live This development comes amid Pump.fun’s proposed public token sale, scheduled for July 12. Well-known Solana influencer Lynk has described this token sale as the “final scam” for the meme coin launchpad. The platform has been under heavy criticism for the amount of money that it has extracted from the Solana ecosystem, without incentivizing community members in any way. Some community members had expected Pump.fun to airdrop its token to rewards platform users instead of conducting a public token sale. Lynk shared details of the public sale, with the meme coin launchpad planning to sell the ‘PUMP’ tokens $0.004 each. The token boasts a total supply of 1 trillion, meaning a fully diluted value (FDV) of $4 billion. However, Pump.fun plans to raise around $600 million from the public token sale, as only $150 billion tokens will be available. The meme coin launchpad is expected to also conduct a private sale in order to complete its $1 billion capital raise effort, as earlier reported. LetsBonk.fun To Keep Dominating Pump.fun In an X post, crypto influencer Unipcs, also known as ‘Bonk Guy,’ opined that Pump.fun isn’t done, but that LetsBonk.fun will likely continue to be the industry leader. He predicts that this will be the case for the foreseeable future. He outlined several reasons why he believes this would be the case. Related Reading: Solana Picture Bigger Than $420: Analyst Predicts 140% Surge To New ATHs Firstly, he stated that LetsBonk’s pro-creator, pro-people, pro-Solana ecosystem alignment is a massive strength over Pump.fun. Secondly, Bonk Guy remarked that the strong culture of support within the BONK ecosystem is incredibly hard to replicate by any other platform in a short period. Furthermore, the crypto influencer remarked that Pump.fun had a lot of momentum as a tokenless protocol, especially with a token generation event (TGE). However, LetsBonk.fun was able to flip the platform during this period. As such, Bonk Guy believes that it is hard to see Pump.fun sustainably recover the kind of market share it once had after the TGE event. He also suggested that a “non-negligible amount of activity on Pump.fun is inorganic with a lot os users farming on the platform, hoping that there was going to be an airdrop. As such, the influencer believes that the traffic will dry up once the TGE is over. Featured image from Adobe Stock, chart from Tradingview.com

A recent report revealed that over 50% of all crypto tokens have failed in the past five years, with a significant decrease in token survivability over the past year. Related Reading: Solana: Analysts Forecast Q3 ATH Rally As SOL Retests Make Or Break Level 50% Of Crypto Tokens Have Collapsed On Wednesday, CoinGecko published a report claiming that over half of the tokens registered in its Decentralized Exchange (DEX) tracker, GeckoTerminal, have died in the past five years. The study examined the total number of crypto tokens once listed in the DEX tracker with one trade or more before going defunct. Since 2021, nearly 7 million tokens have been listed in the real-time tracker, with 3.7 million cryptocurrencies no longer actively traded and considered to have failed. As a result, 52.7% of all examined crypto died, 86.5% failing between 2024 and early 2025. According to the report, 49.7% of all recorded project failures between July 2021 and March 2025 occurred in the first quarter of this year. By March 31, 1.8 million tokens had collapsed, representing the highest number of failures recorded in a single year. In 2024, nearly 1.4 million crypto projects failed, accounting for 37.7% of all collapses during the analyzed period. The number of failing projects has significantly increased from 0.5% in 2021 to 25% in 2025’s first three months. Nonetheless, CoinGecko noted that 2024 has the highest number of launches, seeing over 3 million new projects deployed in the crypto market. Since 2021, the total number of projects has skyrocketed by around 1,550%, going from 428,383 listed projects on GeckoTerminal to nearly 7 million crypto projects. Memecoin Frenzy Responsible For Most Failures? The massive increase in token launches was fueled by the launch of the Solana-based memecoin launchpad Pump.fun, which facilitated the deployment of tokens. The platform’s creation led to a “flood of meme coins and low-effort projects entering the market.” Notably, the start of this cycle’s memecoin frenzy saw the launch of hundreds of PolitiFi tokens, celebrity tokens, and scam tokens, with many reaching market capitalizations of hundreds of millions in record time. The report highlighted that crypto failures were in the low six digits before Pump.fun’s launch, with only 12.6% of all dead tokens between 2021 and 2023. By July 2024, reports revealed most celebrity memecoins had crashed over 90% since launch, with the majority essentially “dead.” Related Reading: Monero (XMR) Price Jumps 50% Amid ‘Suspicious’ $330 Million BTC Transfer – Details Amid the Q1 market retraces, most cryptocurrencies have seen a sharp price decline, with some of the strongest tokens retesting monthly and yearly lows. The recent nosedive in token survivability could be related to the market exhaustion and market turbulence, which coincided with the launch of the official TRUMP and MELANIA memecoins and the LIBRA token scandal. “This sharp decline in token survivability may be linked to broader market turbulence, particularly following Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025, which coincided with a downturn in the crypto market,” the report concluded. The official TRUMP token, designed to commemorate US President Donald Trump’s second presidency, was an instant hit upon launch. The token surged from less than $10 on January 18th to a high of $74.59 on January 20th before quickly surrendering some gains within hours. Although the token remained competitive days after the president’s inauguration, by trading above $30, it quickly faded under pressure. TRUMP dipped below $20 on February 2nd, and it’s now trading at $10. Related Reading: $931 Million Bitcoin On The Move: Mt. And on-chain data suggests that early investors quickly liquidated their positions, with retail and small traders used as pawns. Solana Chain Takes A Hit The Solana ecosystem is one of the biggest losers in the token’s crash. Aside from TRUMP, a few other Solana-based tokens faced selling pressure, including Raydium’s RAY token, which dropped by 60% in the last month. Even Solana’s native token, SOL, dropped by over 40% over the same period. The drop in value for SOL-based tokens suggests that the interest in meme coins or speculative tokens is waning. The Solana-based memecoin Launchpad Pump.fun’s X account has been hacked and used to promote fake cryptocurrencies, including an “official” PUMP governance token. On-chain investigators suspect the hack is linked to other X account compromises. Related Reading: Red Monday, Green Week? Bitcoin Needs To Reclaim This Level For Trend Continuation – Analyst Pump.Fun Hackers Launch PUMP Memecoin On Wednesday, Pump.fun’s official X account was compromised, with hackers promoting different tokens during the incident. The account started to post different contract addresses (CA) for various memecoins before deleting them. The hackers initially shared the contact address of PUMP, the “official Pump.fun governance token,” stating that “democracy has never been this degen” and that they would be rewarding their “OG DEGENS.” The crypto community quickly identified the memecoin as a scam and alerted other users of the potential account compromise. Blockchain data firm Bubblemaps warned users of the fake memecoin, explaining that PUMP was “heavily bundled and will dump,” as 60% of the token’s supply was held in two clusters. Meanwhile, Pump.fun’s founder, Alon Cohen, confirmed the X hack and asked the community not to interact with it or any links shared until it was recovered. According to on-chain investigator Dethective, the hackers extracted around $600,000 from the token minutes after sharing the memecoin. The crypto sleuth explained that their strategy consisted of posting the CA of a bundled scam token and deleting it after rugging investors. Besides the fake PUMP token, the malicious actor promoted OG, Extract Protocol (EXAI), and Pump.fun Hacked (HACKED), extracting around $90,000 from these memecoins. Dethective noted that some investors continue to buy the tokens after the hackers repeatedly rugged the previous ones, with the last token hitting a $1.5 million market capitalization at the top. The malicious actors asked the crypto community whether they should create a “legit token on Pump.fun” and call it “Hackeddotfun.” They “promised” to pump the memecoin to a market capitalization of $100 million, assuring it wouldn’t “be a bundle” and would be launched through the platform before deleting the posts. Pump.Fun Hack Linked To Jupiter’s X Compromise? Renowned on-chain detective ZachXBT revealed the Pump.fun compromise is “directly connected on-chain” to the Jupiter DAO and DogWifcoin compromises from February 2025 and November 2024, respectively. On his Telegram channel, the internet sleuth suggested that the attacks are “likely not the fault of either the Pump.fun or Jupiter teams.” Instead, Zach suspects a threat actor is “social engineering employees at X with fraudulent documents/emails or a panel is being exploited.” Wu blockchain shared GMGN data revealing that only one Pump.fun memecoin had a market value above $1 million yesterday. The post detailed that several tokens hit the $1 million barrier but quickly experienced a sharp drop. Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the notorious Silk Road marketplace, recently made headlines again—not for his controversial past or his pardon by former President Donald Trump, but for a staggering $12 million loss incurred while trading a memecoin on the platform Pump.fun. Ross Ulbricht $12 Million Mistake On January 29, Ulbricht, or an individual with access to his Solana wallet, reportedly attempted to manage liquidity for ROSS tokens, a meme coin created by his supporters to raise funds following his release. Related Reading: No More Bitcoin Bear Markets Ever? Fund CIO Explores New Market Reality Ross Ulbricht received 50% of the total supply of these tokens, which were designed to generate financial support in the wake of his pardon. Instead of liquidating his holdings all at once, he sought to add liquidity gradually on Raydium, a decentralized exchange (DEX) operating on the Solana blockchain. However, Ulbricht’s attempt to provide liquidity was marred by a critical error. In setting up the liquidity pool, he mistakenly utilized a Constant-Product Market Maker (CPMM) model instead of the more refined Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker (CLMM) model. The CPMM model, which is the standard for automated market makers, does not allow liquidity providers to set specific price ranges for their trades. As a result, Ulbricht’s tokens became available for trading at an unfavorable price, leading to immediate and unintended market consequences. ROSS Tokens Plunge 90% After MEV Exploitation This misconfiguration attracted the attention of a maximal extractable value (MEV) bot—an algorithm designed to scan blockchain transactions for profitable opportunities and execute trades at lightning speed. The bot seized the moment, purchasing $1.5 million worth of ROSS tokens at a steep discount, then promptly reselling them at a profit into the existing liquidity pool. The rapid exploitation of the mispriced tokens caused a significant price drop, triggering a cascade of losses. In an effort to rectify the situation, Ross Ulbricht attempted to fix his liquidity setup but fell into the same trap, ultimately losing an additional $10.5 million. This brought his total losses to a staggering $12 million as the MEV bot continued to exploit the misconfigured liquidity. The fallout from these transactions resulted in a 90% crash in the token’s price, eroding a significant portion of its market value. Popular Solana-based Launchpad Pump.fun started 2025 with a record-breaking $15 million daily revenue amid the ongoing frenzy surrounding memecoins. The sector continues to be the best-performing narrative of the cycle, driving millions into the hands of investors. Related Reading: Altcoins To Explode In Early 2025: Analyst Says “Grand Finale” Is Around The Corner Pump.Fun Sees Record-Breaking Daily Revenue Memecoins have been this cycle’s largest narrative, with Solana-based tokens stealing the spotlight throughout 2024. This trend is seemingly set to continue this year after Solana’s launchpad Pump.fun saw a record-breaking performance on January 1st, 2025. Last year, Pump.fun cemented itself as the most popular token launcher for simplifying the creation of memecoins and facilitating token deployment. During Q3 2024, the launchpad surpassed Ethereum and most Solana protocols, doubling the fees and revenue of these projects. The remarkable success of Pump.fun saw the creation of several competitors, including the Tron-based SunPump and multi-chain platform GraFun. Despite being banned in the UK in December, the launchpad’s performance remained steady, recording a daily revenue between $2 million and $3 million throughout the month. As of this writing, the platform has deployed 5.39 million tokens since its launch and generated over 2.02 million SOL in revenue, worth $418.7 million at current prices. Moreover, the Solana launchpad started 2025 with a new record-breaking day, surpassing its previous milestone. According to Dune Analytics data, Pump.fun registered 72,506 SOL, around $15 million, in daily revenue this Wednesday. This performance represents a nearly 30% increase from the 55,000 SOL recorded in late November. Additionally, the launchpad continued to dominate Solana decentralized exchange (DEX) transactions last month. Dune data shows that Pump.fun-related transactions accounted for 52.8% of all SOL DEX transactions in December. Memecoin Mania Continues Despite Criticism The platform’s success has also brought heavy criticism. At the end of 2024, Pump.fun received criticism after several users broadcasted harmful and violent content using its Livestream feature. In late November, users created numerous memecoins using controversial prompts to become viral and pump their tokens. The trend started after a 12-year-old livestreamed himself rugging a memecoin. Amid the livestream chaos, the Solana launchpad registered its largest revenue day, recording 55,832 SOL, worth around $11 million, in a single day. However, the incident resulted in backlash from the crypto community and the temporary shutdown of the feature. Moreover, on-chain data analysis firm Lookonchain reported that Pump.fun deposited over 355,608 SOL to Kraken during the last day. This brings the total tokens sent to the exchange to 1,564,064 SOL and the amount sold to 264,373 SOL for 41.64 million USDC. The platform’s transfers and sell-offs have also received significant backlash, with community members driving comparisons between the Solana-based launchpad and the Ethereum Foundation. Related Reading: Bitcoin Retests $95,000 Amid 4.2% Surge, Is A New Year Rebound Coming? Nonetheless, the memecoin narrative continues to dominate the crypto market, with the “Solana Meme” category on CoinGecko recording a 12.5% increase to a market capitalization of $20.9 billion in the last 24 hours, suggesting that the trend is likely to extend. Newer players like ai16z (AI16Z) and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) saw an 8.9% and 43.7% daily surge to hit new all-time highs (ATHs) on January 2nd. Ultimately, these relatively new tokens have stolen the sector’s spotlight, making it to the top 10 memecoin list in record time. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com
