Popular Solana-based Launchpad Pump.fun started 2025 with a record-breaking $15 million daily revenue amid the ongoing frenzy surrounding memecoins. The sector continues to be the best-performing narrative of the cycle, driving millions into the hands of investors. This trend is seemingly set to continue this year after Solana’s launchpad Pump.fun saw a record-breaking performance on January 1st, 2025. Last year, Pump.fun cemented itself as the most popular token launcher for simplifying the creation of memecoins and facilitating token deployment. During Q3 2024, the launchpad surpassed Ethereum and most Solana protocols, doubling the fees and revenue of these projects. The remarkable success of Pump.fun saw the creation of several competitors, including the Tron-based SunPump and multi-chain platform GraFun. Despite being banned in the UK in December, the launchpad’s performance remained steady, recording a daily revenue between $2 million and $3 million throughout the month. As of this writing, the platform has deployed 5.39 million tokens since its launch and generated over 2.02 million SOL in revenue, worth $418.7 million at current prices. Moreover, the Solana launchpad started 2025 with a new record-breaking day, surpassing its previous milestone. According to Dune Analytics data, Pump.fun registered 72,506 SOL, around $15 million, in daily revenue this Wednesday. This performance represents a nearly 30% increase from the 55,000 SOL recorded in late November. Additionally, the launchpad continued to dominate Solana decentralized exchange (DEX) transactions last month. Dune data shows that Pump.fun-related transactions accounted for 52.8% of all SOL DEX transactions in December. Memecoin Mania Continues Despite Criticism The platform’s success has also brought heavy criticism. At the end of 2024, Pump.fun received criticism after several users broadcasted harmful and violent content using its Livestream feature. In late November, users created numerous memecoins using controversial prompts to become viral and pump their tokens. The trend started after a 12-year-old livestreamed himself rugging a memecoin. Amid the livestream chaos, the Solana launchpad registered its largest revenue day, recording 55,832 SOL, worth around $11 million, in a single day. However, the incident resulted in backlash from the crypto community and the temporary shutdown of the feature. Moreover, on-chain data analysis firm Lookonchain reported that Pump.fun deposited over 355,608 SOL to Kraken during the last day. This brings the total tokens sent to the exchange to 1,564,064 SOL and the amount sold to 264,373 SOL for 41.64 million USDC. The platform’s transfers and sell-offs have also received significant backlash, with community members driving comparisons between the Solana-based launchpad and the Ethereum Foundation. Nonetheless, the memecoin narrative continues to dominate the crypto market, with the “Solana Meme” category on CoinGecko recording a 12.5% increase to a market capitalization of $20.9 billion in the last 24 hours, suggesting that the trend is likely to extend. Newer players like ai16z (AI16Z) and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) saw an 8.9% and 43.7% daily surge to hit new all-time highs (ATHs) on January 2nd. Ultimately, these relatively new tokens have stolen the sector’s spotlight, making it to the top 10 memecoin list in record time. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com

The memecoin was inspired by the newly adopted sister of Dogecoin’s inspiration, Kabosu. The cryptocurrency has registered a remarkable performance during October, jumping 30% month-to-date (MTD). Moreover, the token saw an impressive rally towards its all-time high (ATH) price of $0.0022 two weeks ago, surging 4,600% in 30 days. The memecoin’s bullish momentum also propelled its market capitalization (MC) near the $1 billion mark, reaching a $935 million MC on October 15, which fueled a bullish sentiment among market watchers. However, Neiro’s price has declined since its most recent rally, trading 31.5% below its ATH. The Shiba Inu-themed memecoin registers a 10.3% drop in the past week, hovering between the $0.00132-$0.00170 price range. Despite the price drop, analysts and investors remain positive above the cryptocurrency. Crypto Tony noted that the memecoin is another token that looks “really good” since the beginning of its bullish momentum in mid-September. The analyst pointed out Neiro’s potential, suggesting that a small pullback from its recent levels could be a good entry point for investors ahead of an upcoming rally. Is $0.0020 Or $0.0010 Next? Since its all-time high, the cryptocurrency’s chart has displayed a downtrend, forming a broadening wedge pattern in the lower time frame, according to trader CryptoBull360. The market watcher noted that a successful breakout above the upper trendline could trigger a 25%-30% bullish rally for the token. Another trader suggested Neiro’s “situation on the chart is messy.” The trader stated that the token needed to break above the $0.00165 mark to continue its bullish trajectory and recover its ATH levels. However, if Neiro is rejected instead, the token could see a 30% correction toward the $0.0010 support zone. The $0.00165-$0.00170 price range represented an important consolidation zone ahead of the token’s surge toward its ATH. On Monday morning, Neiro’s price jumped 13.3% toward the $0.00170 resistance level. The token moved above the pattern’s upper trendline, signaling a breakout from its biweekly downtrend. As of this writing, Neiro is trading at $0.00151, a 4% drop in the daily timeframe. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com

Most of these tokens were deployed on Solana, initially pumping to millions in market capitalization. On its first day, the largest Solana-based Neiro meme coin reached a $100 million market cap. However, it has since plummeted over 80% to a market capitalization below $20 million, possibly due to the overabundance of Neiro tokens on the chain. The token was also heavily criticized after online reports called out alleged insider activity from the developers. Blockchain data firm Bubblemaps revealed that the developers of the largest Neiro token deployed on Solana had control of 6% of the token’s supply and eventually sold it for $5.7 million. Since then, the meme coin has seen a massive 84% price drop, going from its all-time high (ATH) of $0.12 to trading at $0.019. Are The Dog Days Back? The Ethereum-based Neiro stole the show from its Solana counterparts. The token has seen remarkable growth in the last four days, hitting a $200 million market cap on August 1. Since its creation on July 27, Neiro has registered a 4,400% surge, shredding two zeros as a result. Additionally, the token reached a new ATH price of $0.20 after soaring 81% from the day before. Nonetheless, the developers of Ethereum’s Neiro have also been accused of insider trading. Following the massive surge, Bubblemaps alerted investors that the token allegedly “is heavily controlled.” According to the report, 78% of the memecoin’s supply was sniped at launch and quickly spread among 400 wallets. The firm revealed that the wallets had sold 12% of their holdings, around $4.5 million, by July 30. Investors seemed unfazed by the reports, with many calling the report “bullish news.” Others expressed excitement by the firm’s “fudding,” stating, “A lot of the most successful memes require supply control.” Related Reading: Solana Looks ‘Ripe To Push Higher’, Is A Mania-Like Rally To $600 Coming?
