While the crypto market struggles and broader sentiment sits at its lowest levels in years, BNB Chain has shown resilience, building on last year’s on-chain momentum, while taking key steps toward strong builder activity and growing user participation. Now, the ecosystem has turned to AI agents, one of the rapidly growing narratives, to start preparing for the next market phase. Related Reading: Crypto Funds Bleed $173M As Outflows Extend To Fourth Week – Report BNB Chain’s AI Agent Ecosystem Grows In a recent development, the BNB Chain has rolled out support for AI agent standards ERC-8004 and BAP-578, seeking to make agent identity practical at scale “with low fees, fast transactions, and infrastructure designed for frequent agent activity.” Notably, AI Agents are autonomous programs capable of making decisions, interacting with other systems, and carrying out tasks, including trading and managing data, without continuous human participation. However, these agents have shown limits that must be addressed to operate beyond single apps or centralized platforms. As a result, BNB Chain announced earlier this month the deployment of the ERC-8004 infrastructure on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) Mainnet and Testnet. ERC-8004 is a new on-chain identity standard designed to give autonomous AI agents verifiable, portable identity across platforms. According to the announcement, they also introduced BNB Application Proposals (BAPs), which are a new standard for the application layer, to complement the ERC-8004 infrastructure. BAP-578, the first BAP, launches the Non-Fungible Agent (NFA) standard, which enables AI agents to “exist as on-chain assets that can hold assets, execute logic, interact with protocols, and be bought, sold, or hired. This marks the first step toward an open, predictable, and interoperable Agent Economy on BNB Chain.” By February 17, its AI Agent ecosystem had reached 58 projects across 10 categories, including infrastructure, social platforms, DeFi, trading, gaming, and entertainment. Moreover, it has seen over 200 builders participate in its ongoing “Good Vibes Only: OpenClaw Edition” hackathon event, focused on AI/on-chain actions. The Ecosystem’s Momentum The BNB Chain has continued to show strength across its ecosystem despite the recent market downturn and BNB’s price correction, holding key on-chain metrics and strong fundamentals. Crypto market intelligence firm Messari recently highlighted BNB Chain’s performance during the last quarter of 2025. Notably, BNB Chain remained the third-largest network by DeFi Total Value Locked (TVL), ending the year with $6.6 billion in TVL across its ecosystem, up 23.6% YoY. Per the report, average daily transactions surged 30.4% QoQ, while daily active addresses increased 13.3%. In addition, the total Real-World Asset (RWA) value grew to $2 billion, a 228.1% increase QoQ, and 554.6% up YoY from the $3.6 million registered at the start of the year. According to the report, BNB Chain saw over 4.9 million average Daily Active Users (DAU) during the snapshot period, an 11.4% increase from the 4.4 million average DAU recorded the previous week. Notably, data from Dune Analytics shows that the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) recorded 2.59 million DAU, and opBNB saw 2.36 million DAU. While the BSC saw an 8.5% Week-on-Week decline, opBNB recorded a strong 46% weekly increase. Meanwhile, BNB Chain also registered over 142.6 million transactions during the recorded week, with 118.96 million from BSC and 23.65 million from opBNB. Although it represents a mild 2% decline from the previous week, it continues January’s trend of weekly transactions exceeding 140 million. Dune data cited by the report also shows that BNB Chain’s total trading volume reached $56.4 billion between January 22 and January 28, while the Total Value Locked (TVL) was at $6.83 billion. This builds on the ecosystem’s strong performance in 2025. According to a December report, its total unique addresses exceeded 700 million last year. Both BSC and opBNB achieved new usage milestones, with over 4 million DAU. In addition, its TVL grew by over 40%, while average daily transactions rose to 10.78 million, reaching an all-time high (ATH) of 31 million daily transactions in October. New Ecosystem Developments The latest report also highlighted key ecosystem developments, including significant steps toward broader institutional access, strong builder activity, and growing user participation. As reported by NewsBTC, Prediction Markets on BNB Chain recently reached a new milestone after surpassing $20 billion in cumulative volume last week. Dune data shows that prediction markets within the ecosystem have surged significantly since Q4, 2025, increasing nearly 89% in a month. BNB Chain also led in weekly trading volume by chain, surpassing off-chain prediction markets, Polygon, Solana, and Base since the start of this year. Grayscale filed an S-1 form with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a BNB-based spot exchange-traded fund (ETF), signaling major institutional interest in the ecosystem. BNB’s Price At Major Support Despite a packed week for the ecosystem, BNB is currently at a seven-month low, attempting to bounce from a crucial area to prevent a deeper correction. Notably, the altcoin has seen a 13.1% pullback over the past week, falling below the $900 and $800 supports. The cryptocurrency has also recorded a 44.5% decline from its October 13 ATH of $1,369, currently hovering between the $760-770 area. Market observer Whale Factor affirmed that BNB is “at the ultimate ‘do or die’ level.” Related Reading: Oct. 10 Started The Bitcoin Bear Market, On-Chain Data Shows The analyst highlighted that BNB retested a major support level as it tapped the $730 area on Monday. As he explained, this zone has held in the daily and weekly timeframes since August, and could set the stage for the next major move. If this level continues to hold in these key timeframes, “a clean bounce here targets $900+ for a massive reclaim.” On the contrary, “If we lose $730 on the daily close, we’re looking at a fast slide to the $650 liquidity gap,” Whale Factor warned. Binance Smart Chain (BSC), commonly known as BNB Chain, has announced the “BEP 336 upgrade”, inspired by Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade (EIP 4844), which aims to optimize data storage and processing on the blockchain. The upgrade is expected to significantly reduce transaction costs, improve network performance, and drive the price of Binance Coin (BNB) towards its previous all-time high (ATH) of $686, reached in May 2021. BNB Smart Chain Cost-Effective Data Solution According to the protocol’s announcement, BEP 336 introduces an innovative concept called “Blob-Carrying Transactions” (BlobTx) that will change how large data blocks are handled.  These temporary and cost-effective memory segments, known as blobs, can capture data blocks as large as 128 KB. By streamlining the transaction verification process, the network only needs to verify that the attached blob contains the correct data rather than verifying each transaction within a block. Related Reading: Zooming NEAR: Solid 75% Growth Sparks Crypto Frenzy The introduction of blob transactions within the BSC, which is particularly beneficial for opBNB – the layer 2 network of the BNB ecosystem – offers several advantages. Blobs reduce network space consumption, resulting in lower storage costs and more affordable gas fees for users, similar to Etherem’s Dencun upgrade. This storage strategy allows for efficient data handling while managing blockchain bloat, ensuring data integrity and availability throughout its lifetime on the chain. BEP 336 also includes two additional components. The Blob Market establishes a fee market for blobs, ensuring regulated storage and transmission costs based on network demand. The Precompile Contract adds a layer of security by verifying that the data in a blob matches the reference in the blob-bearing transaction. While BEP 336 draws inspiration from Ethereum’s EIP 4844, it is tailored to meet BSC’s unique requirements. Notably, BSC’s design mandates that blobs be managed exclusively by the BSC client, distinguishing it from Ethereum’s approach. Moreover, BSC implements a dynamic gas pricing mechanism for blobs, ensuring reasonable transaction costs with minimum and maximum thresholds. BEP 336 Integration With Phased Roadmap BSC has outlined a phased roadmap for the integration of BEP 336. Beginning with the Testnet launch in April, developers can test and interact with the upgrade in a “controlled environment” to address potential issues.  The subsequent Magnet phase in May will focus on further testing and optimization to ensure the “robustness” and “scalability” of BEP 336. Finally, in June, the mainnet hard fork will mark the official deployment of BEP 336 on the BSC mainnet, ushering in a new era of efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the network. Related Reading: Ethereum Is Not Done: Crypto Analyst Sets New $5,000 Target According to the announcement, the benefits of BEP 336 are expected to impact developers and users within the BSC ecosystem significantly. Gas fees will be reduced considerably as certain data types no longer require permanent storage, making transactions more affordable.  The temporary storage mechanism will keep the blockchain lean and bloat-free, enhancing overall network performance. With lower costs and improved efficiency, BEP 336 aims to make the BSC ecosystem more accessible to a wider audience, including developers and newcomers to blockchain technology. The announcement has boosted Binance Coin’s (BNB) price by over 8%, resulting in a current trading price of $588, just 15% below its all-time high of $686.  In case of further price gains, the next resistance walls for the BNB price are placed at the $600 level and the $608 mark, which could prevent the token from further price appreciation in its mission to reach its current ATH.  Featured image from Shutterstock, chart from TradingView.com
