As Bitcoin (BTC) hovers near its lowest levels since late 2024, a market observer suggests the flagship crypto may not have finished bottoming yet, with more downside potentially ahead. Related Reading: XRP Sees Intense Capitulation As Realized Profit-To-Loss Ratio Plunges BTC’s Historical Data Points To Longer Correction On Wednesday, analyst Rekt Capital compared Bitcoin’s current price action to its performance in previous cycles to determine how close the leading crypto’s market bottom may be. In a video analysis on X, the market watcher explained that BTC’s deviations from previous all-time highs (ATHs) could serve as key reference points for this assessment. Notably, Bitcoin bottomed 22% from the 2017 peak during the last cycle’s correction. Now, it is trading roughly 14% below the 2021 peak of $69,000, which could suggest the bottom may be approaching. However, the analyst affirmed that this metric alone “doesn’t represent the mosaic of data that we need to be paying attention to.” He stated that the length of previous bear markets is a crucial indicator to factor in, noting that, historically, Bitcoin bear markets tend to last at least one year, sometimes extending beyond that. For instance, the flagship crypto took approximately 365 days to complete its full corrective phase during the 2021-2022 bear market. The current pullback has lasted about 240 days so far, which would depart from historical behavior and make it significantly shorter than previous cycles if the bottom is already in or close. If the current cycle follows a similar timeline to previous ones, BTC could have at least 120 days left in its corrective phase, with the bottom likely occurring around October and the possibility of further extension if the cycle mirrors longer historical patterns. Bitcoin Bottom Another 20% Below? The analyst highlighted that while the duration of the bear market is important, the depth of its retracement is another crucial factor. Last cycle, Bitcoin dropped 77%, while it declined 84% during its 2018 bear market. Nonetheless, the pullback has only reached 53% so far this cycle, suggesting there may still be room for additional downside. Based on this, he emphasized the trend of shallower bear markets, with the correction’s depth progressively diminishing roughly 7%-10% each cycle. If this pattern repeats, Bitcoin could see a potential retracement near 70% this cycle, placing BTC’s bottom in the high $30,000 range. Meanwhile, if the shallowing trend accelerates toward a 10% reduction, the bottom could form near the low $40,000 region. Related Reading: Bitmine Makes Largest Ethereum Purchase Of 2026 As Tom Lee Dismisses Market Selloff These factors point to a critical period over the next four to five months, the analyst affirmed, in which another leg down of up to 20% remains possible. He noted that similar phases have historically included periods of consolidation followed by additional declines before the final bottom forms. Ultimately, Rekt Capital asserted that this period is crucial as it lays the foundation for the next bull cycle. “This bear market here (…) precedes an entire period of multi-year upside. And I think that’s why it’s important, as a result, to focus on the importance of this bear market bottoming out period over these next few months because we’ll then see a multi-year period of upside,” he concluded. The lead research analyst at Glassnode has highlighted how the Bitcoin supply clustered at the top levels might have to shift down before a sustained recovery can take shape. Bitcoin Cost Basis Distribution Shows Massive Supply Above $80,000 In a new post on X, Glassnode lead research analyst CryptoVizArt has discussed how the Bitcoin supply is looking from the perspective of the Cost Basis Distribution (CBD). The CBD is an on-chain indicator that tells us about the amount of BTC that was purchased at each of the levels that the cryptocurrency has visited during its history. Below is the chart for the metric shared by CryptoVizArt. Related Reading: Dogecoin Tests Channel Floor Again: Breakdown Or Rebound? As is visible in the graph, there is a decent amount of Bitcoin supply that was purchased at recent price levels. This supply cluster has built up as the asset has consolidated in the region since February. While this cluster isn’t small, it’s still less dense than some other zones. From the chart, it’s apparent that there are regions above $80,000 that host the break-even level of an extreme amount of supply approaching the 495,000 BTC mark. These zones extend up to the top levels from the 2025 bull market. Earlier, the levels near $126,000 used to be even more dense, but as the digital asset sector has gone through this downturn, supply has changed hands at lower levels, weakening these clusters. However, the zones continue to be dominant relative to the clusters below $80,000. “The Cost Basis Distribution heatmap shows a dense supply cluster in the $80k–$126k range, representing coins still held by buyers near cycle highs,” noted the analyst. Naturally, all of these holders are in a notable amount of unrealized loss right now. Generally, underwater investors act as an impediment to price surges as they sell near their break-even. This effect could in part be what capped out the recovery rally in May. CryptoVizArt explained: For a sustained recovery to take shape, this supply needs to gradually migrate into new buyers’ hands at lower cost basis levels. As that wall softens, the overhang pressure eases and demand has room to build conviction. In the past, the process has often taken some time to occur for Bitcoin. “This transition can be achieved through deeper correction and/or bear market continuation,” said the Glassnode researcher. Bitcoin has witnessed a drop back below the $77,000 level, and with it, the cryptocurrency has lost its recovery above the short-term holder cost basis. Bitcoin Has Fallen Under The STH Realized Price In a new post on X, analyst Maartunn has talked about how BTC’s move above the short-term holder Realized Price ended in rejection. The “Realized Price” here refers to an on-chain indicator that measures the cost basis of the average investor or address on the Bitcoin network. Related Reading: Ethereum Sell Signal That Last Preceded A 63% Drop Flashes Again When the spot price of the cryptocurrency is greater than this metric, it means the investors as a whole are in a state of net unrealized profit. On the other hand, the asset being under the indicator implies the dominance of loss on the blockchain. In the context of the current topic, the Realized Price of a specific investor group is of interest: the short-term holders (STHs). This cohort includes all addresses that purchased their coins within the past 155 days. Now, here is the chart shared by Maartunn that shows the trend in the Bitcoin Realized Price for this group over the last few years: As displayed in the above graph, Bitcoin dropped below the STH Realized Price with its crash in the last quarter of 2025 and stayed below it until the recent recovery rally. This surge finally resulted in the cryptocurrency climbing back above the line, thus putting the STHs back into the green. The profitable status couldn’t last for the cohort, however, as a pullback in the asset has meant that the spot price is once more below the indicator. In the past, the Bitcoin spot price finding rejection around the STH Realized Price is something that has often been witnessed during bearish phases. The reason behind the trend lies in selling from the group’s members that arises as a result of panic-exiting at the break-even level. The recovery attempt in January also fizzled out near the cost basis of these investors. Related Reading: Ethereum Dips To $2,250 As Trader Profit-Taking Hits 3-Week High In some other news, the long-term holders (LTHs), the counterpart of the STH cohort, have seen an uptrend in their supply recently, as CryptoQuant author Darkfrost has pointed out in an X post. From the chart, it’s visible that the Bitcoin LTHs saw their supply go down during the second half of 2025, indicating that the diamond hands of the network were selling. The trend changed this January, with the netflow of the group turning positive. Currently, this cohort controls a total of 15.26 million BTC. BTC Price Bitcoin dropped to a low of $76,700 during the latest retrace, but the coin has since bounced back a bit to $77,700. Featured image from Dall-E, chart from TradingView.com
As Bitcoin (BTC) defends a pivotal support level, Tom Lee has called for the end of the crypto winter, setting massive year-end outlooks for the flagship crypto and Ethereum (ETH). Related Reading: DeFi Platform TrustedVolumes Hit By $6.7M Hack As 2026 Exploits Surge Tom Lee Shares $200,000 Bitcoin Target Tom Lee, the chairman of Ethereum’s largest treasury firm, Bitmine Technology, shared bold end-of-year price predictions for the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. During a quick-fire round of questions at Consensus 2026, the executive affirmed that Bitcoin could soar “well past all-time highs” by year’s end, forecasting that its price may trade between $150,000 and $200,000 in late 2026. He also predicted that Ethereum could rally into year-end, potentially reaching new highs between $9,000 and $12,000. Lee said his bullish outlook is based on his belief that the crypto winter is over and that a recovery rally could unfold over the coming months. “Crypto Spring, in our view, has commenced, and like past cycles, investor sentiment and conviction are muted and bearish even as crypto prices strengthen,” he asserted earlier this week, adding that the potential passage, or even failure, of the crypto market structure bill confirms the arrival of crypto spring. The chairman’s bold predictions come as the flagship crypto defends a crucial support zone. Notably, Bitcoin had been trading between $74,000 and $79,000 since mid-April, finally breaking out of this range earlier this week. The flagship crypto soared past the $80,000 resistance on Monday for the first time since January. It then rallied during the first half of the week toward the key $82,500 resistance before rejecting on Thursday. Now, Bitcoin is trading between the $79,000-$80,000 area, which some analysts suggest could make or break BTC’s rally. BTC At Most Crucial Support Rekt Capital highlighted that Bitcoin has successfully held the 21-week EMA, around the $78,000 level. However, he warned that “this move through this resistance area hasn’t been very sustainable thus far, which opens up the possibility for yet another retest of the 21-week EMA going forward.” As a result, BTC needs to successfully retest the 21-week EMA again to avoid being completely rejected from the resistance area, between the 21-week EMA and the 50-week EMA, and dropping into the mid-$70,000s. Meanwhile, market analyst Ali Martinez affirmed that Bitcoin is currently trading around the most important resistance level as the average cost basis of new whales, the entities that bought in the last 155 days, currently sits at $80,300. He explained that “when Bitcoin trades below this average cost basis, these whales are holding at a loss,” which means that new whales will be “incentivized to sell just to break even and avoid further losses” if BTC fails to hold the $80,300 area as support. Related Reading: Solana Eyes New Leg Up After Triangle Breakout – Is $96 The Next Stop? Martinez warned that this panic to exit would create a wave of selling pressure that pushes prices much lower. On the contrary, if the flagship crypto turns this level into support, it’d signal that selling pressure has exhausted. “Once these whales are back in the green, they stop selling and start holding for higher targets, which is exactly how new uptrends begin,” he concluded. A crypto market analyst has shared the key levels to watch as Bitcoin (BTC) confirms a key level as support for the first time in months, opening the door to a continuation of its April recovery rally. Related Reading: This Signal Has Predicted Every Bitcoin Bottom, Here’s What It’s Saying Now Bitcoin EMA Reclaim Signals More Upside Potential After closing the week above a crucial level, Bitcoin jumped 2.2% to break above the $80,000 resistance for the first time since January. The flagship crypto had been trading between $74,000 and $79,000 for the past few weeks, failing to reclaim the range’s upper boundary despite multiple attempts. On Sunday, BTC closed above the $78,000 mark for the second consecutive week, confirming its 21-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA) as support. Previously, analyst Rekt Capital highlighted the 21-week and 50-week EMAs as two key levels for the cryptocurrency’s ongoing rally, explaining that these moving averages tend to act as support during bull markets and as strong resistance during bear markets. In a Monday analysis, the market observer noted that these levels “didn’t flip into a picture-perfect resistance” this time despite losing them as support after its pre-bearish crossover at the start of the year. Nonetheless, their divergence created a “general supply area” rather than the “general demand area” configuration, typically seen during bull markets. Now, “BTC has Weekly Closed above the EMA, performed a very volatile retest of it, and Weekly Closed above it again.” As a result, Bitcoin is positioned for upside, the analyst affirmed, adding that it has the price strength confirmation after last week’s close, but it will need continued stability in the absence of a follow-through move higher. If trend continuation comes, the analyst suggested that a surge deeper into the supply zone is likely, with the 50-week EMA, currently around the $86,000-$87,000 area, as the ultimate stop on any upside wick. “Generally, though, anything within this supply area is where the price should be rejecting and failing to rally higher,” he warned. BTC At Trend Continuation Or Rally Ceiling? As Bitcoin attempts to reclaim the $80,000 level, Rekt Capital affirmed that the $82,500 region “doesn’t have a defined role.” Notably, this crucial horizontal area has served as strong support and marks the base of a macro triangle formation that was lost during the February price crash. “The first time price reached it, we produced a decent rebound into new All Time Highs. The next time the price tagged the same level, we produced a much lesser rally, a sign that the support there was already weakening. Now, $82,500 doesn’t have a defined role. But we may be defining it as we speak,” the analyst stated. Related Reading: Bitcoin Price Expansion To $97,000 Is Only Being Blocked By One Pesky Retest He explained that a rejection without breaking beyond this resistance would make this the price ceiling, forcing a retest of BTC’s old All-Time Highs (ATH) area between $69,000 and $74,000, as we are just halfway through the bear market. In addition, Bitcoin has not been able to reclaim a macro triangle during this part of the cycle, once the price breaks down. Rekt Capital pointed out that to invalidate the Four-Year Cycle thesis and call the end of the bear market, BTC would need to break back above the macro triangle base on the monthly timeframe and above its macro downtrend, located above the $96,000 area. After a shaky start to the year, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and XRP Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have recorded their strongest performance in months, signaling strong institutional demand despite the recent market volatility. Related Reading: XRP 2017 Breakout Replay? Analyst Drops Bold Target As Multi-Year Pattern Repeats Bitcoin Leads ETF Boom With $2B Inflows As the crypto market recovered from the start-of-year correction, US spot Bitcoin ETFs kicked off a new positive inflow streak, capping the second straight month of massive gains. The flagship crypto saw an 11.8% rise in April, climbing from the $68,000 mark to the $78,000-$79,000 resistance area for the first time since February, BTC’s strongest monthly gain in a year, according to CoinGlass data. Amid this performance, Bitcoin-based investment products recorded their strongest inflows in six months, with a nine-day streak between April 14 and April 24 totaling $2.1 billion. This marked the longest and largest inflows since the category’s $5.33 billion nine-day streak that ended in early October 2025. Nonetheless, this week’s market volatility, which recently pushed BTC’s price to a weekly low of $74,973, snapped Bitcoin ETFs from their daily and weekly positive spells, pulling nearly half a billion dollars from the funds in just three days. As reported by NewsBTC, the category saw $490 million in outflows between April 27 and April 29, its biggest negative net flows in three months. Despite the recent withdrawals, the funds posted $1.97 billion in April after a mild $14.76 recovery on Thursday, surpassing March’s $1.32 billion and recording their best performance of the year, the first two-month streak since Q4 2025. Notably, these inflows have offset outflows from January and February, with nearly $1.5 billion in net inflows Year-to-Date (YTD). ETH, XRP Funds See April Comeback Like Bitcoin, altcoin-based ETFs also saw a strong performance during the April market recovery, with Ethereum and XRP leading the charge. As ETH’s price printed its second green candle in 2026, its investment products logged their first positive performance of the year. SoSoValue data shows that the category posted $356 million in inflows in April, ending a six-month negative streak totaling $2.8 billion. Ethereum ETFs recorded a 10-day positive spell between April 9 and April 22, bringing in $633.5 million during this period. It’s worth noting that ETH funds remain in red despite the recent inflows, with about $413 million in net outflows during the first four months of 2026. XRP funds also rebounded in April, with inflows totaling $81.59 million. This marked a strong recovery from March’s performance, when the category saw the first red month since its November launch. Related Reading: Bitcoin Faces ‘Most Critical Week In Months’ Amid $76,000 Retest – Should Investors Worry? Similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, the XRP-based products recorded their best daily streak of the year, seeing 14 days of positive net flows between April 10 and April 29. Following this performance, the funds have seen around $124 million in inflows during the first four months of the year, bringing their total cumulative inflows to $1.29 billion. Meanwhile, Solana ETFs continued their seven-month positive streak, posting $38.69 million in inflows last month and recording $251.8 million net inflows for 2026. As the end of April approaches, some market observers suggest that Bitcoin (BTC) could be preparing to reclaim a crucial level in the coming days, potentially opening the door to another recovery rally next month. Related Reading: Why The 42% Crash From ATH Is Actually Good For Bitcoin And The Crypto Market Bitcoin Sees First Weekly Close Above Key Levels Bitcoin has closed above a crucial level for the first time since January, setting the stage for a potential rally toward higher levels even though it failed to break through another resistance level. Notably, the flagship crypto ended the week above $78,000, a level that was lost after the late January-early February market crash. Amid this close, BTC reclaimed the 21-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA) in the weekly timeframe, one of the key barriers after the recent price jump. Last week, analyst Rekt Capital affirmed that if Bitcoin closed the week above this level, it could prevent a retest of the $73,000 area and “would be worth watching for whether the EMA can be reclaimed as support,” as it tends to act as resistance during bear markets. Now that the cryptocurrency has closed above this level, confirmation of the 21-week EMA as support could lead to a move toward the $81,000-$82,500 area. Similarly, Ali Martinez said that the price could rebound toward the $81,500 area if the $77,000 continues to hold. According to the analyst, BTC is consolidating within a rising channel on the 4-hour chart, with the lower boundary currently located around $77,000. As he noted, “If this floor holds, it could serve as a strategic rebound zone to send BTC back toward the channel mid-range near $81,500, with a secondary target at the channel top of roughly $84,500.” BTC Eyes May Breakout From ‘New Cage’ Analyst Sjuul from AltCryptoGems asserted that Bitcoin appears to have “found a new cage to be trapped in.” After breaking out of the $66,000-$74,000 consolidation range earlier this month, BTC has since traded between $74,000 and $80,000. To the market watcher, this would not be a bad sign for bulls, “as long as it consolidates above $74K and doesn’t break down below.” Michaël van de Poppe noted that the markets are “shaping up for more upside” while Bitcoin holds crucial levels, but warned that there are key levels to consider despite the bullish momentum. According to the post, a decisive reclaim of $79,000 open the gates toward the next key resistance area between $85,000-$88,000, which could lead to a retest of the $100,000 phycological barrier over time. Related Reading: Bitcoin Could Hit New All-Time High Fast On Quantum Fix, Capriole Founder Says Meanwhile, no clear breakout would lead to a consolidation period before another retest of the key resistance. In that case, holding $73,500 would be crucial, he noted, as losing this area would set the stage for a retest of the lows. Nonetheless, he suggested that Bitcoin will likely retest the $85,000-$88,000 area in May and correct or consolidate from there. It’s worth noting that this resistance area was lost in early January and has not been tested since. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com
On-chain analytics firm Glassnode has explained how a flip in Bitcoin short-term holder profitability could act as a precondition for a sustained price recovery. Bitcoin STH Supply In Profit Is Currently Under 50% In a new post on X, Glassnode has talked about the latest trend in the Supply in Profit metric for the Bitcoin short-term holders (STHs). The Supply in Profit measures, as its name suggests, the percentage of the BTC supply that’s currently being held at some net unrealized gain. Related Reading: Bitcoin Returns Mirror Late-2022 Levels Seen Before 67% Rally: Santiment In the context of the current topic, only the above-water supply held by the BTC STHs is of relevance. This cohort includes all addresses that purchased their tokens within the past 155 days. The STHs make up one of the two main divisions of the market, based on holding time, with the other side being known as the long-term holders (LTHs). Statistically, the longer an investor holds onto their coins, the less likely they are to sell them in the future. As such, the STHs with their relatively low holding time are considered to represent the weak-minded side of the market, while the LTHs include the diamond hands. As the chart below for the Supply in Profit of the STHs shows, the new entrants to the market were enjoying a high degree of profitability before Bitcoin experienced a bearish shift in Q4 2025: The price decline has caused the indicator’s value to plummet, meaning a chunk of the tokens held by the Bitcoin STHs have gone underwater. From the graph, it’s apparent that the indicator dropped below the 50% mark a while ago and has continued to be in this low profitability zone since. In the past, this cohort being under stress has generally meant a lack of demand in the market. “Demand-side risk appetite tends to remain suppressed until this flips back above 50%,” noted Glassnode. In the chart, a few examples of the STH Supply in Profit flipping back above 50% are visible, with the latest one being the price rebound from the first half of 2025. Back then, a return of profits for the cohort led to a Bitcoin rally that set new price all-time highs (ATHs). Related Reading: Bitcoin Bull Score Surges To 30, Exits ‘Extra Bearish’ Zone Given this trend, it’s possible that a flip in the metric above the 50% level could once again be of significance for the cryptocurrency. “Watch this level as a precondition for any sustained recovery,” explained the analytics firm. Bitcoin (BTC) is retesting resistance levels as its price recovers the $71,000 mark. However, an analyst has warned that the bear market is expected to continue and that the latest bounce could be short-lived. Related Reading: Dogecoin Risks More Pain As Price Retests Critical Support – Analyst Warns Of 37% Breakdown Bitcoin Eyes Reclaim Of Former All-Time High Resistance On Tuesday, Bitcoin surged 7.5% from the Sunday lows toward the $71,000 area, retesting this key level for the second time in a week before momentarily retracing toward the $69,000 level. The cryptocurrency has been trading between the $63,000-$71,000 price range over the past month, briefly surging above the upper boundary during last week’s market bounce. However, BTC’s price has failed to hold its multiple breakout attempts amid the market volatility. In a Monday analysis, market watcher Rekt Capital observed that Bitcoin is interacting with two key levels that form “an important overhead resistance”: the 2021 and 2024 all-time highs (ATHs) at $69,000 and $71,300, respectively. As the analyst explained, these levels turned into resistance in the monthly timeframe after the flagship cryptocurrency closed February at $66,970. Since then, BTC has repeatedly tested these key levels from below in the daily timeframe but has failed to reclaim them. Instead, it has produced upside wicks above $69,000 and $71,300, signaling that the former ATHs are acting as rejection levels in shorter timeframes and could become key resistance if it monthly closes below them. “For Bitcoin to begin shifting this structure, price would need to Monthly Close above $69,000 by the end of March to position itself for a reclaim of the 2021 All Time High as support,” the analyst asserted. “Similarly, the 2024 All Time High at $71,300 would likely require multiple Monthly Closes above the level in order to properly establish a reclaim process,” he added. BTC Bounce To Be Short-Lived? While the former ATHs risk turning into resistance, Rekt Capital noted that Bitcoin is currently finding crucial support at the 50-month Moving Average (MA), around the $64,000-$65,000 area. Historically, the flagship crypto has initially reacted from this level in bear markets, but eventually loses it as support. The recent bounce from the 50-month MA is enabling BTC to test the 2021 and 2024 ATHs as resistance “for the time being.” However, once the breakdown occurs, the level usually becomes a new resistance before further downside continuation follows. Now, “Bitcoin is effectively sandwiched between two key reactive zones,” he affirmed, which could lead to short-term relief before the mid-term downside continues. Related Reading: Hyperliquid Traders Rise in Arms as Bitcoin Hits 7-Day Low And Oil Soars The analyst also observed that BTC appears to be only halfway through the bear market, leaving the door open for further downside. In an X post, he noted that BTC’s shortest bear market lasted around 365 days, while it is currently just over 150 days into the current one. Other analysts have suggested that the cryptocurrency could follow the 2022 cycle playbook. At the time, the price significantly retraced from the cycle peak, consolidated for months, and then had a final bull trap before its second major correction wave toward the market bottom. As of this writing, Bitcoin trades at $71,307, a 3% increase in the daily timeframe. Featured Image from Unsplash.com, Chart from TradingView.com
Bitcoin is regaining strength after pushing back above the $70,000 level, a move that has helped restore a degree of bullish sentiment following weeks of heightened volatility. The recovery comes after a turbulent period for global markets, during which geopolitical developments and macro uncertainty triggered sharp swings in price action across risk assets. Related Reading: Manufacturing The Bitcoin Reserve: Inside The Trump Family’s 11,000-Miner Expansion At American Bitcoin According to a recent report from CryptoQuant by XWIN Research Japan, Bitcoin experienced notable volatility between late January and early March 2026. During this period, the asset briefly fell into the mid-$60,000 range before staging a sharp rebound in early March that lifted prices back toward the $73,000 area. The report notes that the initial decline was largely triggered by geopolitical developments. On February 28, reports of a US–Israel military strike on Iran escalated tensions across the Middle East, injecting significant uncertainty into global markets. As risk sentiment deteriorated, Bitcoin quickly dropped to roughly $63,000 on February 29. However, the sell-off proved short-lived. Market conditions stabilized within days, and by March 2 Bitcoin had already recovered to around the $70,000 level. Momentum accelerated shortly afterward, as renewed buying pressure between March 4 and March 5 pushed BTC above $73,000, signaling a potential shift in short-term sentiment as investors reassess the broader market environment. ETF Inflows And Short Covering Fuel Bitcoin’s Rebound The CryptoQuant report further explains that renewed inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs played a major role in driving the recent rebound. In early March, several hundred million dollars flowed into these investment vehicles, providing direct support to spot market demand. On March 4 alone, ETF inflows exceeded $200 million, highlighting a resurgence in institutional participation after a period of weaker activity. Derivatives markets also contributed significantly to the rally. Open Interest increased sharply while funding rates shifted into negative territory, indicating that many traders had positioned aggressively on the short side. As Bitcoin’s price began to rise, these crowded short positions were forced to unwind, triggering waves of short liquidations that amplified upward momentum through short covering. On-chain indicators present a more nuanced picture. The report notes that some bearish signals remain, including the 90-day Realized Profit/Loss Ratio staying below 1.0 and a growing share of coins currently held at unrealized losses. At the same time, constructive developments are emerging beneath the surface. One example is the Coinbase Premium Index, which recently returned to positive territory after an extended period of negative readings. This shift suggests that demand from US-based investors is beginning to recover. The move toward $73,000 appears to be driven primarily by a combination of ETF inflows and short-covering in derivatives. Related Reading: The $11,000 Deficit: Why the Record $8.9B Bitcoin ETF Drawdown Is Paralyzing Wall Street’s BTC Appetite Bitcoin Breaks Above Key Resistance As Momentum Strengthens The chart shows Bitcoin trading near $73,100 after a strong upward move that pushed the price decisively above the $70,000 level. This breakout follows several weeks of consolidation between roughly $64,000 and $69,000, where the market repeatedly tested both support and resistance without establishing a clear direction. From a technical perspective, the recent rally allowed Bitcoin to reclaim its short-term moving averages, including the 50-period and 100-period lines, which had previously acted as resistance during the consolidation phase. The ability to break above these levels suggests a shift in short-term momentum as buyers regain control of the market. Related Reading: Surpassing FTX-Era Lows: 38% Of Altcoins Hit Record Lows As Liquidity Abandons The Crypto Fringe Price is now approaching the 200-period moving average, which sits slightly above the current level and represents a key technical barrier near the $74,000 region. This level could act as the next resistance zone, as longer-term participants often use it as a reference for trend confirmation. Volume has also increased during the breakout, indicating stronger participation as the market moves higher. The sharp upward candles reflect aggressive buying pressure, which aligns with the short-covering dynamics observed in derivatives markets. If Bitcoin manages to consolidate above $70,000, the breakout could establish this level as a new support zone. However, failure to maintain this structure could lead to another retest of the $68,000–$69,000 region before the market attempts a new directional move. Bitcoin is facing a critical test as volatility returns and price action remains unstable around the $90,000 level. Bulls are attempting to defend this psychological zone after recent turbulence, but confidence across the market is still fragile. With uncertainty dominating short-term sentiment, many traders are treating every bounce as a potential trap rather than the start of a confirmed recovery. Related Reading: Bitcoin’s Power Shift: New Whales Now Control The Market According to top analyst Darkfost, the market is still missing a key ingredient for a sustainable bullish continuation: a broad base of investors sitting in profit. He argues that despite Bitcoin’s resilience, there are not yet enough participants in positive territory to build the kind of structural comfort that fuels long-lasting uptrends. This matters because latent profits are not inherently bearish. In healthy conditions, when most holders are in profit, the market tends to stabilize. Investors feel less pressure to sell, panic fades, and holding becomes easier. That environment often supports stronger trend development and reduces the risk of sharp downside reactions. Still, Darkfost warns that profit dynamics only help up to a point. When unrealized gains become extreme across the entire market, they can eventually turn into overhead supply, triggering corrective phases. Bitcoin’s Profit Structure Still Isn’t Bullish Enough Profit distribution across holders can become a double-edged sword for Bitcoin. When the supply in profit climbs above 95% and approaches 100%, unrealized gains stop being supportive and begin turning into overhead pressure. At those extremes, investors have little incentive to hold through volatility, and even small shocks can trigger profit-taking that fuels corrective phases. From a structural perspective, Darkfost argues the market needs to reclaim the 75% supply-in-profit threshold to rebuild a healthier foundation. Historically, Bitcoin has tended to sustain bullish conditions when this metric holds above that level, as most participants remain comfortable and less reactive to downside volatility. Right now, however, the market sits near 71%, after dropping as low as 64%. Darkfost notes that readings this low have often appeared near the early stages of bear markets, even when the headline drawdown looks relatively contained. In this case, the decline of roughly 31% was enough to push a large portion of recent buyers underwater, suggesting many entered late in the move. The recent rebound briefly lifted supply in profit back to 75%, but it failed to hold. That rejection likely reflects investors using the bounce to exit at breakeven or reduce losses. Going forward, reclaiming 75%–80% would signal stabilization, while further weakness could amplify panic-driven selling. Related Reading: Ethereum Supply Tightens On Binance As Reserves Hit Lowest Level Since 2016 Volatility Keeps Bulls on the Defensive Bitcoin is attempting to stabilize near the $90,000 mark after a volatile correction that reshaped the market structure over the past few months. The chart shows BTC printing a major peak around $125,000 before rolling over into a sharp selloff. Accelerating into November and eventually finding a local floor near the mid-$80,000s. That drop marked a decisive break in momentum and triggered a shift toward a lower range, where price has struggled to regain prior support levels. Since the rebound off the lows, Bitcoin has moved into a consolidation phase, repeatedly testing resistance around $92,000–$95,000 but failing to generate sustained continuation. Each recovery attempt has been met with selling pressure, suggesting that short-term supply is still active near former breakdown zones. The latest bounce back toward $90,000 signals buyers are defending the level. But the structure still looks fragile without a clean breakout. Related Reading: Binance Order Flow Suggests Ethereum Is In Correction Mode: Demand Still Missing Volume also reflects uncertainty, with higher activity during selloffs and more muted participation during rebounds. Bitcoin has pushed above the $97,000 level, extending a recovery that has brought short-term relief to a market weighed down by weeks of uncertainty. While the move has reignited optimism among some investors, a large share of analysts remains cautious, arguing that the rally could still be a counter-trend bounce within a broader bearish setup for 2026. Price strength alone, however, does not fully explain the current move. According to a CryptoQuant analyst, Bitcoin has shown notable resilience after decisively breaking the $94,200 resistance zone and accelerating toward the $97,500 area, with on-chain data offering important context behind the advance. Related Reading: Bitcoin Bulls Take Control: Futures Positioning Turns Bullish for First Time Since October One of the key indicators supporting this move is Value Days Destroyed (VDD), a metric that sheds light on long-term holder behavior. VDD measures how long coins remained inactive before being spent, weighted by transaction size. In simple terms, it helps distinguish whether price movements are driven by experienced holders distributing old coins or by newer coins changing hands. As of January 2026, VDD is hovering around 0.53, a historically low reading. This implies that the coins currently moving on the network are relatively young, while older holdings remain largely dormant. Such behavior suggests that long-term holders are not rushing to sell into strength, lending structural support to the recent breakout—even as the broader market debates whether this surge marks renewed strength or merely a temporary reprieve. Long-Term Holders Reinforce Bitcoin’s Breakout Quality The report by Carmelo Alemán, Verified On-Chain Analyst at CryptoQuant, highlights an important dynamic behind Bitcoin’s recent move above key resistance levels. Despite the sharp price appreciation, long-term holders remain largely inactive. In practical terms, this means that investors who have held Bitcoin through multiple cycles are not using the current strength as an opportunity to exit positions. Their restraint significantly improves the quality of the rally. Historically, this behavior has mattered. When Bitcoin advances while Value Days Destroyed (VDD) stays low, it signals that older coins are not entering circulation. Demand is being met primarily by younger supply, allowing price to rise without triggering structural selling pressure from the most experienced market participants. These phases have often aligned with healthier expansion periods rather than short-lived speculative spikes. The current breakout fits that historical pattern. Bitcoin’s move through resistance has not been accompanied by a surge in long-dormant coins being spent. Instead, long-term capital appears comfortable holding through higher prices, suggesting confidence in the broader market structure rather than urgency to lock in gains. This supportive backdrop remains conditional. As long as VDD stays suppressed, the rally retains a strong foundation. However, a sustained increase in the indicator would change the narrative, signaling that long-term holders are beginning to distribute and potentially marking a shift toward heavier selling pressure. Related Reading: OG Bitcoin Selling Slows Sharply: Long-Dormant Coins Go Quiet Price Tests Key Resistance After December Rebound Bitcoin price is trying to stabilize after a sharp rebound from the December lows, with the chart showing BTC reclaiming the $96,000–$97,000 zone. This level coincides with a confluence of technical factors, making it a critical area for short-term direction. The recent recovery followed a strong sell-off from the November highs. Where the price broke below the 50-day and 100-day moving averages and briefly capitulated toward the low $80,000s. From a structure perspective, BTC is now printing higher lows on the daily timeframe, signaling a potential short-term trend reversal. Price has also reclaimed the 50-day moving average, which often acts as dynamic resistance during downtrends. Holding above this level would be constructive, as it suggests buyers are regaining control after weeks of distribution and volatility. Related Reading: Bitcoin LTH SOPR Signals Early Capitulation, But Selling Pressure Remains Contained However, overhead resistance remains significant. The 100-day and 200-day moving averages, currently clustered between $100,000 and $108,000, represent a heavy supply zone where previous breakdowns occurred. A failure to push higher could lead to renewed consolidation or a pullback toward the $92,000–$94,000 support range. Volume has increased during the rebound, showing genuine participation rather than a low-liquidity bounce. Still, the broader trend remains unclear. For bullish momentum, Bitcoin needs acceptance above $97,000 and a clear attempt toward the $100,000 psychological level. Otherwise, the move risks being a technical rebound within a larger corrective phase. Featured image from ChatGPT, chart from TradingView.com
In the last week, Bitcoin’s correction took another drastic turn as prices retested the psychological $100,000 price zone, triggering heavy waves of liquidation. Although the premier cryptocurrency witnessed some rebound after, the current market price remains 19.02% away from the all-time high at $126,198. In the hope of a sustained recovery, a popular analyst with the X username PlanD has outlined one critical market condition. Related Reading: Bitcoin Valuation Reset: MVRV Slides Into Macro Correction Territory — What This Means Bitcoin 50-Week EMA Holds Bullish Structure – Analyst In an X post on November 7, PlanD shares insightful analysis on Bitcoin’s latest price movement. The prominent market expert notes Bitcoin’s bounce of $100,700 may have confirmed a bottom formation. Although price dips below $100,700 could still occur, PlanD emphasized the importance of watching out for a bullish weekly close above this crucial support level. Notably, the importance of the $100,700 price zone comes from its alignment with Bitcoin’s 50-week exponential moving average (EMA). Since 2022, this indicator has acted as a crucial metric, with price crosses often signaling a change in market trends. In the present bull run, Bitcoin has decisively retested the 50-week EMA thrice, each time resulting in a price bounce to higher levels. Amid the recent correction, Bitcoin famously hit this support zone again, which PlanD describes as critical to keeping a bullish structure for a possible rebound. As long as market bulls hold the price point above this indicator, the analyst predicts another bullish price action with potential targets between $116,000 – $120,000 in the short-term. Following a steady recovery, PlanD’s further analysis suggests that Bitcoin maintains strong upside potential, with its current momentum aligning with an ascending channel that began in late 2024 and projecting a possible move toward $176,000. In parallel, a broader cup-and-handle formation has been developing since 2023, signaling an even larger long-term target around $340,000, reinforcing the bullish outlook for the asset. In tandem, weekly and monthly losses of 6.98% and 16.23% indicate that bearish sentiment remains dominant despite a modest price bounce off $100,000. Bitcoin’s retest of the $100,000 level proved pivotal in the ongoing correction, triggering several adverse developments. These included a drop in the investors’ realized price to below $50,000, and losses among top buyers reaching approximately $0.16 billion per hour. All these events, including the subsequent price rebound all underscore the critical psychological importance of the $100,000 zone in the current market structure. Bitcoin has retraced its recent recovery above $104,000 as data shows the Coinbase Premium Gap has continued to be negative. Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium Gap Has Been Red Recently As pointed out by CryptoQuant community analyst Maartunn in a new post on X, investors on Coinbase keep selling Bitcoin. The indicator of relevance here is the “Coinbase Premium Gap,” which measures the difference between the BTC price listed on Coinbase (USD pair) and that on Binance (USDT pair). Related Reading: Bitcoin At Increased Risk Of Falling To $88,500 Support, Glassnode Warns When the value of this metric is positive, it means the asset is trading at a higher rate on Coinbase than Binance. Such a trend suggests the users of the former are applying a higher buying pressure (or lower selling pressure) than those of the latter. On the other hand, the indicator being under the zero mark implies Binance users are the ones participating in a higher amount of accumulation as they have pushed the asset to a higher price on the platform. Now, here is the chart shared by Maartunn that shows how the Coinbase Premium Gap has fluctuated over the past week: As displayed in the above graph, the Bitcoin Coinbase Premium Gap has stayed mostly in the negative zone during the past week, implying users on Coinbase have been participating in selling. The metric briefly turned neutral-green as the cryptocurrency witnessed a surge back above $104,000, but since then, the indicator’s value has again plummeted, and with it, the BTC price has erased its recovery. Since the start of 2024, Bitcoin has often reacted to movements in the Coinbase Premium Gap in a similar manner, showcasing how Coinbase users have been a driving force in the market. The exchange is mainly used by American investors, especially large institutional entities like the spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), so the Coinbase Premium Gap essentially reflects how the US-based whales differ in behavior from Binance’s global traffic. Since the indicator has been red recently, it would appear that the American institutions have been distributing the cryptocurrency. Considering the pattern over the last couple of years, it’s possible that BTC’s recovery might depend on whether a bullish sentiment can return among this cohort. Related Reading: Cardano Retests Line That Has Triggered Strong Rebounds Since Nov 2024 In some other news, a movement of old tokens has just been spotted on the Bitcoin blockchain, as Maartunn has highlighted in another X post. Data shows cryptocurrency short investors have suffered large liquidations during the past day as Bitcoin and altcoins have made a recovery. Bitcoin, Ethereum Have Surged In The Last 24 Hours Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have witnessed a rally during the past day, breaking away from the slump the market had earlier fallen into. At the height of this surge, Bitcoin broke past $116,000, while Ethereum touched $4,250. Related Reading: XRP Flashes TD Buy Signal: Start Of Fresh Rally? The assets have since seen a small retracement. The chart below shows how BTC’s latest trajectory has looked. At its current price of $115,400, Bitcoin is up about 4% on the weekly timeframe. Similarly, Ethereum at $4,160 is in a profit of 3.4%. Most other digital assets have seen similarly positive returns, although there are some outliers like Tron, which is down more than 7%. The market-wide recovery during the past day has meant that a large amount of short liquidations have piled up on the derivatives exchanges. Crypto Market Liquidations Have Totaled At $467 Million According to data from CoinGlass, about $467 million in cryptocurrency-related derivatives contracts have been liquidated over the last 24 hours. A contract is said to be “liquidated” when its platform forcibly shuts it down after it accumulates losses of a certain degree (as defined by the exchange). Given that coins across the board have rebounded, the contracts crossing this threshold would mostly be the short ones. And indeed, the data would confirm so. As is visible above, liquidations related to bearish cryptocurrency bets have reached $358 million in this window, representing 76.6% of the total flush in the sector. Bitcoin led the liquidations with $177 million in contracts involved, while Ethereum contributed the second most with $130 million in contracts. Out of the rest, Solana witnessed the largest flush at $34 million. In some other news, Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have observed a notable amount of inflows over the past month, as CryptoQuant community analyst Maartunn has pointed out in an X post. An analyst has revealed the key Bitcoin charts that could be to keep an eye on while Bitcoin is slowly making recovery from its latest crash. These Bitcoin Charts Could Be Ones To Watch In a shock to the market, Bitcoin ended last week with a steep crash, falling from above $122,000 to below $110,000. The coin managed to make some recovery on Sunday, and that rebound has held so far into Monday. Related Reading: XRP Whales Are Selling: $50 Million Exiting Wallets Every Day However, while BTC appears to be rebuilding its structure, its direction remains unclear, as noted by CryptoQuant community analyst Maartunn in an X thread. Maartunn has shared a few key charts that could determine whether the recovery will hold or fade. First, the analyst has revealed a chart that points out a similarity between the recent Bitcoin price action and the November 2021 bull market top. As displayed in the above graph, BTC broke above its weekly resistance with the recent price rally, but immediately fell below the line after the crash. A similar failed breakout also took place back in November 2021. According to Maartunn, such a trend typically signals exhaustion. On-chain data also suggests the cryptocurrency is currently trapped below a notable resistance level, as the chart for the UPRD shows. The UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) here is an indicator that tells us about the amount of Bitcoin that was last purchased/transferred at the various price levels that the asset has visited in its history. From the metric’s chart, it’s visible that a significant amount of supply has its cost basis between $117,500 to $120,000. The holders of these coins would naturally be underwater right now, so there is a chance that if BTC recovers to their break-even level, they might panic sell, fearing going into losses again. Given the scale of the supply involved, selling pressure of this kind could be notable on a retest of the range, potentially making it a major resistance barrier for the asset. A support level that could be key is the average cost basis or Realized Price of the short-term holders (STHs). The line has historically helped the asset find a rebound during bullish trends, with three instances of the trend occurring within the last six weeks alone. The analyst has warned, however, that conviction among the cohort is fading. Related Reading: Bitcoin Investors Pivoting To Accumulation, But Mega Whales Are Still Selling The Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) Ratio suggests profitability among the Bitcoin STHs has been following a long-term decline, with the boundary level of 1 again being retested. “If this level breaks, expect downside. If it holds, it confirms demand — but manage risk accordingly!” noted Maartunn in the thread. Data shows the Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index has retreated into the neutral territory as the BTC price has made recovery back above $114,000. Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index Is Exactly In The Balance Right Now The “Fear & Greed Index” refers to an indicator created by Alternative that measures the average sentiment present among traders in the Bitcoin and wider cryptocurrency markets. Related Reading: XRP Bounce Incoming? Analyst Targets $3–$3.15 After Support Holds The index uses the data of the following five factors to determine the investor mentality: volatility, trading volume, market cap dominance, social media sentiment, and Google Trends. The metric represents the sentiment as a score lying between zero and hundred, where all values above 53 correspond to a sentiment of greed and those below 47 to one of fear. Its value being between these two thresholds implies a net neutral mentality. Besides these three regions, there are also two “extreme” zones called the extreme fear (below 25) and extreme greed (above 75). Historically, these two regions have held significance for Bitcoin and other digital assets, as tops and bottoms have occurred while the investors have held these sentiments. The relationship has been an inverse one, however, meaning extreme fear has been where bottoms have taken place, while extreme greed has facilitated top formations. Now, here is how the sentiment in the cryptocurrency sector is like at the moment, according to the Fear & Greed Index: As displayed above, the Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index has a value of 50 right now, which suggests the average trader sentiment is exactly in the balance. This is a change from how it was in the last few days, when the investors were fearful. From the chart, it’s visible that the indicator fell to a low of 28 just a few days ago, implying investor sentiment was deep in the fear zone, just shy from turning into extreme fear. The fearful mentality was a result of the crash in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Related Reading: Crypto Suffers Nearly $1 Billion In Liquidations As Bitcoin Extends Decline Interestingly, since this peak in fear, BTC has regained footing and made some recovery. This could be an indication that the contrary effect of crowd sentiment may have once again come into play, despite the index not quite reaching extreme fear. With the market rebound, sentiment has quickly improved. But with it still being at neutral levels, the crowd is uncertain about where the asset would head next. It now remains to be seen how the investors will respond if the price recovery continues in the coming days. On-chain data shows the cryptocurrency market as a whole has witnessed capital inflows of nearly $19 billion while Bitcoin and others have gone through their recovery. Crypto Market Has Enjoyed Net Capital Inflows Over The Past Month In a new post on X, analyst Ali Martinez has talked about the latest trend in the capital inflows for cryptocurrencies. In the digital asset sector, capital mainly flows in and out through three asset classes: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the stablecoins. The altcoins usually only see a secondary rotation of capital from these coins. Related Reading: Bitcoin Sandwiched Between Major Support & Resistance Levels—Can Bulls Win Out? As such, the netflows related to the three of BTC, ETH and the stables can provide a sufficient-enough estimation for the situation of the entire cryptocurrency market. For calculating the capital inflows/outflows related to Bitcoin and Ethereum, the “Realized Cap” indicator can be used. The Realized Cap is an on-chain capitalization model that finds the total value of any asset’s supply by assuming the value of each individual token as the same as its last transaction price. This is different from the usual Market Cap, which just sums up the supply at the current spot price. In short, what the Realized Cap reflects is the amount of capital that the investors of the cryptocurrency as a whole have put into it. Changes related to the metric, therefore, reflect the inflow or outflow of capital. In the case of the stablecoins, the change in the Market Cap is enough to gauge the capital netflow. This is down to the fact that the Realized Cap is no different from the Market Cap for them, as a result of their price never varying from the fiat currency that they are pegged to. Now, here is the chart shared by the analyst that shows the trend in the 30-day aggregate cryptocurrency market netflow based on these indicators over the past month: As displayed in the above graph, the combined 30-day Bitcoin and Ethereum Realized Cap change is currently at a positive $12.58 billion. This means that these two cryptocurrencies have enjoyed a notable net capital inflow during the past month. Similarly, the stablecoins have seen a net inflow of $6.19 billion in the same period. Thus, it seems the digital asset sector as a whole has witnessed the incoming of $18.77 billion in capital. Related Reading: Bitcoin HODLer Selling Expected Around This Level, Report Says While this trend has occurred, Bitcoin and the other assets have gone through their price recovery runs, so it’s possible that as long as these inflows keep up, the rallies could be sustainable. Data shows the Bitcoin sentiment is currently not far from the extreme fear region, something that could be positive for the asset’s recovery. Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index Is Deep Into The Fear Zone The “Fear & Greed Index” is an indicator made by Alternative that tells us about the average sentiment present among the traders in the Bitcoin and wider cryptocurrency markets. The index uses the data of these five factors in order to determine the market sentiment: trading volume, volatility, market cap dominance, social media sentiment and Google Trends. Related Reading: Bitcoin Supply In Profit Hasn’t Lost This Key Level Yet—Bull Cycle Intact? To represent the mentality, the indicator uses a numeric scale running from zero to hundred. All values under the 47 mark correspond to a sentiment of fear, while those above 53 to that of greed. Now, here is how the sentiment is like in the sector right now, according to the Fear & Greed Index: As is visible in the above graph, the Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index has a value of 29 at the moment, which means the investors as a whole share a sentiment of fear, a particularly strong one at that. In fact, the indicator’s value is currently so deep that it’s quite close to a special region known as the extreme fear (25 and under). Just earlier, the sentiment had seen an improvement as a result of the news related to the 90-day pause on the tariffs and the price surge that had followed. But it would appear that the obstacle that BTC has encountered in its recovery has worsened market mood once more. So far, BTC’s pullback has been small, yet the sentiment has already returned nearly to extreme fear levels. This could be an indication that the earlier renewed confidence was still quite weak. This fact may not actually be a bad sign for Bitcoin, however, if history is to go by. In the past, the asset’s price has tended to move in the direction that’s the opposite of the crowd’s expectations. The probability of such a contrary move taking place has also only grown the more sure the investors have become. The extreme fear happens to be where a fearful mentality is the strongest, so bottoms have historically occurred when the Fear & Greed Index has been inside the zone. There is also a similar region on the greed side as well, known as the extreme greed. Naturally, it’s where tops can be likely to form. Crypto and stock prices have surged in the past hour after US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause for tariffs on multiple nations, except China. Open Interest Says ‘Get Ready’ Trump Authorizes 90-Day Pause On Tariffs In a Truth Social post, President Trump announced he was raising China tariffs to 125% “effect immediately” due to a “lack of respect” shown to the World’s markets. This move follows China’s recently announced reciprocal 84% tariff rate on US goods, starting April 10. “Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable,” Trump explained. In the Wednesday post, the US President also revealed he had authorized a “90 days PAUSE” for other countries, as 75 nations reached out to multiple US Representatives, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the US Trade Representative, to “negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non-Monetary Tariffs.” Additionally, he authorized an immediate substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff of 10% during the 90-day pause. In a second post, the President stated, “This is a great time to buy.” Following the news, stock prices surged, with the S&P 500 (SPX) surging around 6% since the announcement. Meanwhile, the crypto market saw its total market capitalization jump around 5%, with assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), XRP, and Solana (SOL) increasing 6%-12% in an hour. Bitcoin Price Surges To $82,000 The flagship crypto climbed from the $76,000-$77,000 range to the $82,000, momentarily reclaiming this level for the first time since Sunday. Its 6% surge has sparked optimism among investors, who saw Bitcoin fall to a five-month low over the weekend. BTC dropped nearly 10% between Sunday and Monday, fueled by the ongoing tariff war. All values above 53 correlate to a sentiment of greed, while those under 47 that to fear. The territory between these cutoffs represents a net-neutral mentality. Now, here is what the current Bitcoin sentiment is like, according to the Fear & Greed Index: As is visible above, the Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index has a value of 44 at the moment, which suggests the investors as a whole share a sentiment of fear. This crowd despair is only slightly dominant, though, as the metric is just three units away from the neutral zone. The same wasn’t the case just yesterday, however, as the indicator held a value of 34, firmly placing it in the fear region. Below is a chart that shows how the index’s value has developed during the past year. Looks like the metric has seen a sharp improvement compared to a few days ago | Source: Alternative From the chart, it’s apparent that the Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index was around the neutral zone in the final week of March, but the price plunge that came during the last couple of days of the month led to a rapid deterioration of sentiment. At its lowest, the indicator touched the 26 mark during the plummet. This value was so deep into the fear region that it was on the entryway to a special zone called the extreme fear (25 and under). Historically, Bitcoin and other digital assets have tended to move in the direction that the crowd least expects. The probability of such a contrary move rises, and the stronger investor sentiment becomes, so extreme fear is where bottoms are likely to take place. The correction also saw BTC drop nearly 30% from its January all-time high (ATH) and trade below its post-US election price range. A week after the market bleeding started, Bitcoin hit a new three-month low, retesting the $78,000 support on Friday morning. Various market watchers noted that BTC’s most recent decline reached and partially filled its November 2024 CME Gap between $78,000 and $80,700. Rekt Capital pointed out that Bitcoin is experiencing a “strong rebound against the partially filled CME Gap and is doing so on above-average seller volume.” The flagship crypto has surged around 7% from today’s lows, hovering between the $83,000 and $84,000 support zone for the past few hours. To the analyst, the CME Gap support and sell-side volume will be two key indicators to pay attention to over the weekend as constant, uninterrupted BTC sell-side pressure is unsustainable, and seller exhaustion potentially accelerates in the next few days. Bitcoin is finally starting to experience above-average seller volume. There’s still scope for more seller volume to come in, but the chances of Seller Exhaustion occurring are increasing. And Seller Exhaustion tends to precede price reversals. Is A Weekend Rebound Coming? Crypto analyst Jelle highlighted that Bitcoin has done “three drives in deeply oversold territory” this week and is retesting the local lows before today’s drop, which suggests that a “weekend relief seems likely.” The analyst stated that reclaiming the $84,500 support is key for BTC’s recovery as “the past two retests ended up resulting in new lows.” Nonetheless, he noted that today’s rebound seems different due to BTC “touching the 200-ema cluster” for the first time this week and breaking above it. To Jelle, this could signal an “interesting weekend,” with the new CME Gap at $93,000 open. Rekt Capital pointed out that Bitcoin “has filled every CME Gap that has formed since mid-March 2024” and that only the newly formed CME Gap between $92,800 and $94,000 remains open after this retrace. If BTC continues this pattern, the price could see a rebound to fill the new gap soon. An analyst has revealed how XRP and Bitcoin are among the cryptocurrencies seeing a sell signal on the Tom Demark (TD) Sequential after the market recovery. XRP & Bitcoin Among Coins Seeing TD Sequential Sell Signal In a new post on X, analyst Ali Martinez has talked about the TD Sequential pattern that four top assets in the sector have formed recently. The “TD Sequential” refers to an indicator from technical analysis (TA) that’s used for locating probable points of reversal in any asset’s price. The indicator involves two phases: the setup and countdown. During the first of these, candles of the same color in the cryptocurrency’s chart are counted up to nine. These candles don’t have to be one after the other. Related Reading: Social Media Turns Bullish On Dogecoin, Solana As Market Rebounds Once the candles are in, the coin may be considered to have arrived at a spot of reversal. Naturally, this would suggest a shift to a downtrend if green candles completed the setup and that to the upside in case of red ones. As soon as the setup is done, the second phase, the countdown, begins. There isn’t anything different about how the countdown works, except for the fact that here thirteen candles are counted, not nine. This phase’s finish, too, can be assumed to coincide with a likely turnaround in the asset. Four cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), and Solana (SOL) have completed a TD Sequential phase of the former type on their 4-hour prices recently. Here are the charts shared by the analyst that shows the trend leading up to this signal: As is visible in the above graphs, all of these assets have just finished a TD Sequential setup with nine green candles. These candles have corresponded to the recovery that the coins have enjoyed during the last couple of days. Considering what such a TD Sequential setup implies, though, this uptrend may not be here to stay for the cryptocurrency market. So far, XRP, Bitcoin, and the others have continued to rise despite this signal, but it remains to be seen how long the trend would last. In some other news, whale activity on the XRP network has witnessed an increase recently, as Martinez has pointed out in another X post. The chart shows the data for the “Whale Transaction Count” metric from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment. This indicator keeps track of the total amount of transfers taking place on the XRP network that are carrying a value of more than $1 million. The metric has seen a jump during the last couple of days and has hit a value of 341. This implies the whales are making a high number of moves on the blockchain right now. XRP Price At the time of writing, XRP is floating around $2.95, up more than 15% over the last 24 hours. Featured image from Dall-E, charts from TradingView.com

On-chain data shows that Bitcoin long-term holders have potentially been selling recently, something that may explain BTC’s continued bearish momentum. Bitcoin Exchange Inflow CDD Has Registered Huge Spikes Recently As an analyst in a CryptoQuant Quicktake post explained, old cryptocurrency tokens have recently been deposited in large quantities in centralized exchanges. The on-chain metric of interest here is the “Exchange Inflow Coin Days Destroyed (CDD).” A “coin day” refers to a quantity that 1 BTC accumulates after staying dormant on the blockchain for 1 day. Related Reading: Bitcoin Crash Forced Weak Hands Into Largest Loss-Taking Since 2022 Lows: Report When a coin that had been sitting still inside a wallet is finally moved, its coin days counter naturally resets back to zero, and the coin days it had been carrying before the move are said to be “destroyed.” The CDD keeps track of the total amount of coin days being reset in this manner across the network. In the context of the current topic, though, the general CDD isn’t the one of focus, but rather the Exchange Inflow CDD, which only keeps track of the coin days being destroyed through transactions into wallets connected to exchanges. Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Bitcoin Exchange Inflow CDD over the past month or so: As is visible in the above graph, the Bitcoin Exchange Inflow CDD has registered some spikes of considerable scale this month. This would imply that many dormant coins have recently seen deposits into exchanges. Generally, spikes in the CDD correlate to movement from the long-term holders (LTHs), as these HODLers tend to accumulate large amounts of coin days. Therefore, the recent spikes in the Exchange Inflow CDD suggest that these diamond hands have been transferred to exchanges. Holders make transactions into exchanges when they want to use one of the services these platforms provide, which can include selling. The chart shows that the spikes earlier in the month had come when Bitcoin had plunged towards its lows, implying that the selling pressure from this cohort may have played a role in the crash. The latest spike, larger in scale than the others, has come while BTC has been trying to start a recovery rally from these recent lows. So far, BTC has had no luck, suggesting that the selling from the LTHs has potentially been holding the coin back. Related Reading: Chainlink Traders Capitulate After 10% Plunge: Bottom Here?
