Senator Richard Blumenthal has escalated his scrutiny of Binance, sending a follow‑up letter on April 1 to co‑CEO Richard Teng that presses the crypto exchange to explain apparent discrepancies between its testimony to the Senate and subsequent media reporting about transactions tied to Iran. The New Haven Democrat said he is concerned that Binance may have provided “misrepresentations or misleading information to the Subcommittee and to the public,” and he demanded documents and records the company relied on in preparing its earlier responses. Senate Probe Seeks Wallets, Transactions, And Answers Blumenthal’s letter comes after reporting by Fortune and The New York Times that traced roughly $1.7 billion in flows from Binance‑linked accounts to entities with ties to Iran, a far larger sum than the $110,000 figure Binance cited last year for direct transactions with four major Iranian exchanges. The senator said that gap, together with Binance’s partial or delayed production of materials requested by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), raised “further alarms about its candor and compliance with Congressional oversight.” Related Reading: New Bitcoin Crash Ahead? Bloomberg Strategist Forecasts Return To $10,000 – Here’s Why Blumenthal’s letter lays out a long list of specific questions and records requests. He asked Binance to disclose whether any accounts sent or received funds to or from a set of Iran‑linked wallets referenced in the reporting, and to provide the wallet addresses. He demanded a full, year‑over‑year accounting of transactions between Binance and known Iranian exchanges, and asked to explain the methodology it used to calculate the $110,000 figure, including whether it counted transfers that were later associated with Iranian exchanges. Blumenthal also pressed the crypto exchange on internal compliance practices. He asked whether Binance has removed, weakened, or relaxed any detection, screening, freezing, or reporting mechanisms since January 1, 2025, including tools designed to spot illicit indirect transfers. He sought clarity on whether Binance has ever declined to investigate, suspend, or remove accounts tied to individuals inside Iran — including those using VPNs or “drop accounts” (KYC‑verified accounts that are bought, shared, or stolen). Relatedly, he asked whether Binance had ever disciplined compliance staff who raised concerns internally or provided information to law enforcement or external partners, noting reports that Binance had dismissed personnel for “unauthorized disclosure.” Binance Given April 14 Deadline The senator further criticized what he characterized as delayed or inadequate action by Binance in response to law enforcement warnings. He said Binance took two months to respond to law enforcement regarding alleged terrorist financing by entities such as Hexa Whale and another two months to remove an implicated shell entity. He also alleged it took at least five months for Binance to remove Blessed Trust as a vendor after being warned about its role in suspected terrorist financing. Blumenthal wrote that Binance appeared, in some cases, to have labeled certain accounts with internal tags like “Don’t block. Internal accounts,” which he said should have signaled the need for heightened scrutiny rather than protection from enforcement. Related Reading: ICBA Opposes OCC’s Conditional Nod For Coinbase National Trust Bank Charter He asked for exact dates showing when the companies and people involved opened Binance accounts, started sending funds to Iranian intermediaries, were reported to US law enforcement, and when they were suspended or removed. The Senator also demanded explanations for any delays between being notified and taking action. Blumenthal invoked Senate rules and gave Binance until April 14 of this year to turn over records. Cryptocurrency exchange Binance is once again facing mounting scrutiny in Washington, as lawmakers question whether the company is living up to the terms of its 2023 settlement with US authorities — an agreement that ultimately led to the resignation of its founder and former CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ). Democrats Urge DOJ And Treasury Investigation On Friday, journalist Eleanor Terrett of Crypto In America reported that eleven Democrats on the Senate Banking Committee, led by crypto-skeptic Elizabeth Warren, sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urging their departments to examine Binance’s operations. Related Reading: Jane Street Faces New Lawsuit: Trump Media Calls For Federal Investigation The lawmakers pointed to recent media reports alleging illicit finance activity on the platform, including transactions reportedly linked to Iran, and warned that such conduct could place Binance in violation of its 2023 settlement. In their letter, the senators also referenced Binance’s expanding business relationships with President Donald Trump’s crypto ventures, as well as Trump’s pardon of Zhao. They called for what they described as a “thorough, impartial” investigation into whether the exchange is adhering to its legal obligations. The latest pressure follows a separate inquiry launched earlier in the week. As previously reported by Bitcoinist, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal initiated a formal probe through the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Binance Denies Sanctions Violations In a letter dated February 24 and addressed to Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, Blumenthal cited reporting that suggested the exchange may have facilitated “large-scale violations” of US and international sanctions on Iran. Related Reading: Circle Tops Q4 Revenue Forecasts, Shares Surge 30% — Key Numbers Inside Blumenthal noted that Binance appeared to ignore warnings and recommendations aimed at reducing Iranian money laundering operations. He also referred to the same reports cited by the Senate banking committee Democrats, indicating that $1.7 billion in transactions to Iran may have passed through the platform. Binance has strongly denied the allegations. The company said it conducted an internal review and found “no evidence of violations of applicable sanctions laws.” The exchange also rejected claims that it had dismissed investigators for raising concerns related to sanctions compliance. Binance is pushing back against claims that it played a central role in the massive liquidation wave that swept through crypto markets on October 10, an event widely described as the largest in the industry’s history. In the aftermath of roughly $19 billion in wiped‑out positions, some market participants accused the exchange of manipulating prices for its own gain. Binance co‑CEO Richard Teng has now addressed those allegations directly, insisting the platform was not “the sole trigger” of the turmoil and that the selloff hit the entire digital asset ecosystem. Binance Co-CEO Breaks Down $19B Liquidation Event Speaking about the incident, Teng said the sharp downturn was not isolated to Binance. Both centralized and decentralized exchanges experienced comparable spikes in liquidations at the same time, he noted. According to him, intense selling pressure emerged across trading venues as volatility surged. Teng attributed the market shock to external forces rather than internal exchange activity. He pointed to a mix of macroeconomic and geopolitical developments, including new US tariffs on China and broader uncertainty in global financial markets. These factors, combined with highly leveraged positions across crypto derivatives markets, created what he described as a “classic leverage flush.” Related Reading: Is Bitcoin Already Pricing A US Recession? Analyst Sees Major Risk‑Reward Setup Teng drew comparisons to traditional markets, noting that US equities lost $1.5 trillion in value on the same day, with about $150 billion in liquidations occurring in equities alone. By contrast, the crypto market—significantly smaller in size—saw $19 billion in forced position closures, spread across all major exchanges. While acknowledging that many users suffered losses, Teng said Binance took steps to support affected customers, adding that other exchanges did not implement similar measures. He also stressed that there were no signs of abnormal mass withdrawals from Binance during the episode. According to the company, there were no indications of internal technical failures or systemic weaknesses. The price action, Teng argued, was driven by exogenous market forces rather than any exchange‑specific issue. SAFU Fund Hits $1 Billion In BTC Despite the volatility, Teng struck a cautiously optimistic tone about the broader trajectory of digital assets. He said institutional investors continue to allocate capital to the sector, describing their participation as evidence that “smart investors are putting money to work.” While retail demand has softened compared to last year, he said investment from institutions and corporations remains resilient. In his view, the long‑term development of the industry should be judged by its fundamentals rather than short‑term price swings. Related Reading: UNI Rallies 10% As BlackRock Brings Treasury‑Backed BUIDL Token To Uniswap Alongside its comments on the liquidation event, the exchange announced it has completed a previously outlined $1 billion Bitcoin purchase plan for its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU). The exchange acquired 4,545 BTC worth approximately $304.58 million, bringing the reserve wallet’s total holdings to 15,000 BTC, currently valued at about $1.005 billion. Binance also stated that if the fund’s value falls below $800 million due to market declines or legal expenses, it will automatically replenish the balance back to $1 billion. At the time of writing, the exchange’s native token, BNB, is trading at $605. It has registered losses of 5% and 29% over the last seven and fourteen days, respectively. Changpeng Zhao has debunked four narratives that have been circulating on social media within the crypto community in recent days, ranging from a fabricated Polymarket screenshot to claims about Binance “dumping” Bitcoin. He argues that traders were stitching together on-chain observations and clipped quotes into conclusions that weren’t supported by the underlying facts. Former Binance CEO Debunks “FUD” The first rumor centered on an image framed as a Polymarket market showing odds, circulated by several accounts, as high as “79%” that someone would throw something at Zhao’s face at a crypto event in 2026, supposedly backed by more than $7 million in volume. Zhao said the market was fictional, writing: “That event does NOT exist on Polymarket. There is no $7m volume. If it did, I would be the first one to throw a cake in my own face.” Polymarket’s own “CZ predictions & odds” landing page lists various markets historically tied to Zhao, such as questions about his role at Binance, legal outcomes, and other “mention markets”, but no market matching the viral “throw something” prompt appeared there. Related Reading: Binance Founder CZ Addresses Trump‑Related Controversy In Latest Statement A second claim: “CZ cancelled the supercycle” appears to have grown out of Zhao’s comments in a Jan. 30 AMA recap posted on Binance Square, where he described himself as “a bit less confident” about a Bitcoin supercycle than before, while still pointing to longer-term upside. Zhao rejected the idea that a change in his confidence equated to calling off a market regime shift. “Oh, if I had that power, I wouldn’t be on CT with you a lot. I would be snapping my fingers all day long.” The third rumor alleged Binance sold $1 billion of Bitcoin over the past weekend when the market saw a severe drawdown. Zhao’s rebuttal drew a sharp line between user flow and corporate activity: he said it was “Binance users” selling on the venue, not Binance itself as principal. Related Reading: Binance Forms New Company In Greece, Moves Forward With MiCA Licensing The distinction matters because centralized-exchange trading is largely internal ledger movement; a burst of selling pressure can occur without a corresponding on-chain “Binance sold” footprint. Zhao added that Binance’s wallet balances “only change when users withdrawal,” arguing that observers were treating exchange-labeled addresses like a live P&L feed. The fourth thread questioned Binance’s execution of its plan to convert the roughly $1 billion SAFU fund from stablecoins into Bitcoin over 30 days, after some users said they couldn’t “see” buying or on-chain movement. Binance has said it intends to complete the conversion within 30 days and to top the fund back up to $1 billion if market moves push it below $800 million. Zhao countered: “I am guessing their original plan was to buy it over 30 days and move the funds to the address near the end of the 30 days, or once a week or something. You won’t see them buying using a DEX. Binance is a CEX with the best liquidity in the world.” Moreover, CZ dispelled speculations that the decision could have a significant impact on the Bitcoin price. “Also, you think $1b over 30 days is going to make a difference for BTC’s $1.7 trillion market cap? That’s 1/1700/30 = … anyway, you do the math. It’s a gesture. Will it help with confidence, your call,” he wrote. At press time, BNB traded at $767.23. Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has pushed back against growing scrutiny surrounding his relationship with President Donald Trump, saying his ties to the president and his family have been widely misunderstood following Trump’s decision to grant him a pardon last year. CZ Rejects Allegations Of Binance’s Political Links Attention on Zhao intensified after President Trump issued a pardon in October 2025, a move that prompted renewed criticism from Democratic lawmakers and fueled questions about Binance’s alleged political and business connections. Addressing the controversy in a recent interview with CNBC, Zhao said claims of a business relationship with the Trump family are inaccurate. “There’s no business relationship whatsoever,” Zhao stated. The former executive added that the narrative surrounding the pardon and Binance’s alleged ties to Trump had been “misconstrued.” Related Reading: Binance Forms New Company In Greece, Moves Forward With MiCA Licensing Much of the scrutiny centers on Binance’s connection to the Trump-linked decentralized finance (DeFi) venture World Liberty Financial (WLFI). That connection traces back to a $2 billion investment made in March 2025 by MGX, a state‑owned firm based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. MGX invested in Binance using USD1, a stablecoin created by World Liberty Financial. Zhao emphasized that the payment method was chosen by the investor, not Binance. “MGX is the investor. They choose USD1,” he said. “My request to them was they pay us in crypto. I don’t want to deal with banks, really.” According to Zhao, the use of the venture’s USD1 stablecoin has been wrongly interpreted as evidence of a deeper relationship. “Many people misconstrued that,” he added. WLFI Push Back On Political Influence Claims In a statement, WLFI spokesperson David Wachsman said the company played no role in the pardon process. “As we have stated many times, WLFI is not a political organization and had zero role in the pardon process,” Wachsman said. “To imply otherwise is dangerous and false.” Trump himself downplayed any personal connection in a November interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes. “I have no idea who he is,” the president said of Zhao. Trump added that he had been told Zhao was “a victim, just like I was and just like many other people, of a vicious, horrible group of people in the Biden administration.” Additional attention has focused on Binance’s lobbying efforts in Washington. NBC News reported during the week of the pardon that Binance had hired Checkmate Government Relations, a lobbying firm led by Charles McDowell, who is a friend of Donald Trump Jr. Related Reading: Expert Analyzes XRP, Ethereum, And Solana: Predictions For The Next Altcoin Season According to disclosures, the firm was paid $450,000 to lobby the White House and the Treasury Department on matters including “executive relief” and digital asset‑related financial services policy. Zhao denied that any lobbying effort was connected to his pardon. “There is a lot of media saying that there is some deal in place to get me the pardon,” he told CNBC in Davos. “As far as I know, that does not exist at all.” Binance’s former CEO also said he has never spoken directly with President Trump. “The closest that I got to him was today when he was doing the Board of Peace session,” Zhao said. “I was in the audience, about 30 to 40 feet away from him.” At the time of writing, Binance Coin (BNB) was trading at $893, having recorded a 4% drop over the previous week. However, it is one of the few cryptocurrencies to have retained gains year-to-date, with an increase of 30% in that time. Featured image from OpenArt, chart from TradingView.com

As Pakistan continues to deepen its involvement in the digital asset landscape, the country has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with crypto exchange Binance, aiming to explore the tokenization of up to $2 billion in sovereign bonds, treasury bills, and commodity reserves to enhance liquidity and attract foreign investors. $2 Billion Asset Tokenization Initiative According to Reuters, the agreement sets the stage for a potential collaboration focused on allowing the tokenization and blockchain-based distribution of various real-world assets (RWAs) held by the Pakistani government. These assets may include sovereign bonds, treasury bills, and a range of commodity reserves such as oil, gas, metals, and other raw materials. Related Reading: Crypto Market Dips: The Reasons Behind Bitcoin Plunge Below $90,000 Despite FOMC Optimism The country’s finance ministry, Muhammad Aurangzeb, indicated that while the initiative could involve assets valued at up to $2 billion, final approval is still pending. The goal is to improve liquidity, transparency, and access to international markets for these assets. Aurangzeb remarked that the memorandum of understanding signifies Pakistan’s commitment to a reform-oriented economic trajectory and establishes a long-term partnership with Binance. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao expressed optimism about the agreement, calling it “a great signal for the global blockchain industry and for Pakistan.” He suggested that this partnership marks the beginning of a significant shift toward fully implementing the tokenisation initiative. PVARA Provides Initial Clearance For Binance And HTX In addition to this MoU, Pakistan has granted initial clearance for Binance and cryptocurrency exchange HTX, to register with local regulators as part of their efforts to establish domestic subsidiaries. This step allows both companies to prepare applications for full exchange licenses. The Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) provided these early approvals after assessing the governance and compliance frameworks of both platforms. Chairman Bilal bin Saqib indicated that these clearances initiate Pakistan’s phased licensing process, emphasizing that the strength of compliance will play a crucial role in determining which exchanges will proceed. This move comes as Pakistan accelerates its digital finance overhaul, which has included the formation of the Pakistan Crypto Council and the establishment of the PVARA, alongside the drafting of a formal licensing regime. Following speculation regarding a potential return, Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, the co-founder and former CEO of Binance, has sparked discussions about the implications of his recent presidential pardon for the exchange’s operations in the United States. Will CZ Reclaim His CEO Position At Binance? Industry observers suggest that this major development for CZ and Binance as a whole could pave the way for Zhao to resume leadership roles and consolidate Binance’s US operations. According to Bloomberg, the company is exploring several options, including the possibility of integrating Binance.US into its global operations or having its global exchange enter the US market, as indicated by a source familiar with the matter. Related Reading: Binance Founder Suggests President Trump Could Be Satoshi Nakamoto In Latest Statement “This cycle is largely being driven by U.S. institutional investors and investment products, and that’s precisely where Binance can now shift its focus,” stated Markus Thielen, CEO of 10x Research. He added that the US affiliate will likely be reintegrated into Binance’s global ecosystem, providing US investors with direct access to the platform’s “deep liquidity and comprehensive derivatives offerings.” Attention is now focused on whether Zhao will attempt to reclaim the CEO role he previously stepped away from. In recent weeks, he updated his profile on social media platform X from “ex-Binance” to simply “@Binance,” a subtle change that has fueled speculation about his intentions. However, not everyone believes Zhao is eager to return as CEO. David Namdar, who manages a BNB treasury company backed by Zhao’s family office, commented, “I think he is operating with more of a weight off his shoulders not running the exchange. I’d be surprised if he stepped back into that role.” Industry Leaders Predict Increased Involvement Patrick Horsman, chief investment officer of digital asset treasury (DAT) firm Applied DNA Sciences, which invests in Binance Coin (BNB), emphasized that Binance’s technology, liquidity, and relatively low fees could position it as a dominant player in the American crypto market. However, Bloomberg highlights that the pardon may not only enhance Zhao’s personal prospects but also unlock new opportunities for Binance’s global expansion. In a provocative statement, laced with sarcasm, Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, the co-founder and former CEO of Binance, suggested that President Donald Trump and Bitcoin’s (BTC) creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, could be the same person. This came in the wake of a presidential pardon granted to CZ, as announced by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The pardon was described as an exercise of President Trump’s constitutional authority, aimed at addressing charges brought against Zhao by the Biden Administration during its crackdown on the crypto sector. Binance Founder Links Trump To Bitcoin’s Creator CZ’s comments followed a statement from President Trump, who remarked, “Let me just tell you that he was somebody that, as I was told, I don’t know him, I don’t believe I’ve ever met him … he had a lot of support, and they said that what he did is not even a crime.” Related Reading: HYPE Soars Beyond $40 Following Robinhood Listing: What’s Next For Hyperliquid’s Price? BNB continues to dominate market headlines after surging to a new all-time high of $1,223 just a few hours ago. The price has shown remarkable resilience, holding firm above the key $1,200 level, as bullish momentum accelerates across the broader crypto market. The breakout underscores the growing strength of BNB, which has now become one of the clear leaders of this cycle’s rally. Related Reading: Ethereum Matches Bitcoin In Annual Gains: What This Means For The Market Analysts note that BNB’s upward trajectory reflects a powerful combination of technical and market-driven factors. The coin’s consistent growth, fueled by strong demand within the Binance ecosystem and increasing on-chain activity, has positioned it as one of the standout performers in 2025. As the broader market trends upward, BNB’s performance is not only driving sentiment but also signaling renewed confidence in large-cap altcoins. Some analysts now expect the token to push even higher in the coming weeks, with projections pointing toward potential targets around $1,300–$1,400 if momentum continues. The market’s strength, coupled with BNB’s leadership role, suggests that the current rally could extend further — and that BNB may once again set the tone for altcoin performance as investors chase new highs. BNB Chain Activity Hits Record Addresses According to Token Terminal, BNB Chain’s monthly active addresses have reached a new all-time high of 60 million, marking a major milestone for the network and adding strong on-chain support to BNB’s recent price surge. This record growth reflects expanding user activity across decentralized applications, DeFi protocols, and gaming platforms built on the BNB ecosystem. It also highlights the network’s growing adoption, even amid a highly competitive layer-1 landscape dominated by Ethereum and other emerging chains. The timing of this spike in activity is particularly significant. As BNB’s price climbed to a new all-time high at $1,223, the surge in active users underscores that the rally is being driven not only by speculation but also by genuine network engagement. Analysts point out that such increases in activity often precede further bullish momentum, as more users and developers participate in on-chain transactions, staking, and trading. The coming days promise to be very exciting for investors. With Bitcoin consolidating near record levels and Ethereum reclaiming key price zones, BNB and ETH are now leading the charge into what could become a new bullish phase for altcoins. If market momentum continues, this combination of strong fundamentals and technical breakouts could drive altcoin valuations to levels not seen in years. Related Reading: BNB Reaches $1,111 All-Time High: Altseason Signal? Price Analysis: Bulls Maintain Momentum Above $1,200 BNB continues its strong uptrend, consolidating above $1,200 after briefly touching a new all-time high at $1,223 earlier today. The 4-hour chart shows a clear bullish structure, with price action consistently making higher highs and higher lows since late September. BNB remains well-supported by the 20-day moving average (blue line), which has acted as dynamic support throughout this rally. The recent breakout above the $1,175–$1,180 zone confirmed a key resistance flip, allowing bulls to extend the move toward uncharted territory. If BNB manages to close multiple candles above $1,200, the next potential target could be the $1,250–$1,300 range, which would mark the continuation of its parabolic move. Momentum indicators suggest strong buying pressure, though traders should remain cautious of short-term pullbacks. A temporary correction toward $1,150 or even $1,100 could occur if buyers take profits after the rapid appreciation. Related Reading: Bitcoin Dynamics Show Healthy Market Structure: Analyst Sets $130K Target Still, as long as BNB holds above its 50-day moving average (green line), the broader market structure remains decisively bullish. BNB has once again captured market attention after reaching a fresh all-time high around $1,111 just a few hours ago. The milestone marks another historic moment for the token, which only recently crossed the $1,000 threshold for the first time in late September. Its rapid ascent has fueled intense speculation about how far BNB’s bullish momentum can carry it as the broader market gains strength. Related Reading: Bitcoin Dynamics Show Healthy Market Structure: Analyst Sets $130K Target This surge has also reignited debates about BNB’s position in the crypto hierarchy. With Ethereum still holding its dominance as the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, some analysts are beginning to ask whether BNB could eventually challenge ETH’s place. While Ethereum boasts unmatched network effects, smart contract activity, and institutional adoption, BNB’s consistent performance and utility within the Binance ecosystem provide a strong foundation for its growth narrative. The move above $1,100 cements BNB’s reputation as one of the strongest performers in the current cycle. For investors, the question now is whether this breakout signals a new sustained trend or a moment of overheating that could trigger a correction. Either way, BNB’s rally has placed it firmly in the spotlight as one of the most closely watched assets in the market today. BNB Leads the Charge as Market Eyes Altseason The crypto market is heating up once again as major players begin to wake up, setting fresh structural highs across the board. Bitcoin is currently testing its critical resistance just below the all-time high, a level that has historically acted as the springboard for explosive rallies when finally broken. Meanwhile, Ethereum is establishing leadership among altcoins, with its recent strength signaling a shift in momentum that could spill over into the broader market. Within this backdrop, BNB has emerged as one of the standout performers. This breakout above ATH has sparked conversations among analysts who see BNB’s surge as more than just an isolated move. For many, it represents a potential leading indicator that altseason may be approaching. Historically, strong breakouts in large-cap altcoins have often preceded broader market rotations, as capital flows down from Bitcoin and Ethereum into other assets. BNB’s decisive performance has fueled speculation that the same dynamic could be unfolding now. Its utility within the Binance ecosystem, combined with strong liquidity and institutional recognition, makes it a natural bellwether for the altcoin sector. As BTC hovers near record highs and ETH sets the tone, BNB’s surge to fresh highs could be signaling that the next phase of the cycle is beginning. If momentum holds and capital rotates into other large caps, the conditions for a full-fledged altseason may be falling into place. For now, traders are closely watching BNB’s trajectory as it takes center stage in shaping market sentiment. This surge underscores the intensity of current buying pressure as bulls remain firmly in control. The chart shows clear support from the 50-period (blue) and 100-period (green) moving averages, both trending upward and reinforcing the bullish structure. Each minor dip over the past weeks has been quickly absorbed, suggesting that demand remains strong. Senator Elizabeth Warren is intensifying her scrutiny of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, by demanding clarifications from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the crypto company’s compliance with a 2023 settlement agreement. This comes in the wake of concerns about the exchange’s alleged ties to President Donald Trump’s administration and the potential easing of regulatory oversight. Warren Pressures DOJ On Binance Compliance Following years of legal challenges, which culminated in the resignation and brief imprisonment of former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) over allegations of money laundering in the US, Binance appeared to have navigated a path toward a more favorable regulatory environment during Trump’s presidency. However, in a recent letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Warren, along with two fellow Democratic senators, pressed for confirmation that Binance is adhering to the ongoing requirements stipulated in its plea agreement related to charges, including money laundering and violations of US sanctions laws. Related Reading: REX Shares Claims Its DOGE And XRP Spot ETFs Will Be Approved By US SEC Tomorrow The senators expressed their concerns over reports of meetings between Binance executives and Treasury Department officials, seeking clarity on the administration’s role in ensuring the exchange’s compliance with the settlement. Warren’s letter highlighted several specific inquiries. She requested information about the Department’s efforts to guarantee Binance’s compliance with its plea agreement, the status of the company’s anticipated exit from the US market, and any discussions regarding a potential pardon for Zhao. This follows the former CEO’s official request for a presidential pardon earlier this year, after rumors from The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg suggested that CZ and Trump would be collaborating. The senators also sought details about conversations relating to World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a decentralised finance (DeFi) venture run by the president’s sons, and its plans to list a new stablecoin called USD1 on the Binance platform. Lawmakers Demand Clarity In a response from the Department of Justice on September 12, officials summarized Binance’s plea agreement and confirmed that the exchange had paid all penalties due. However, the senators asserted that the response failed to address their key questions, particularly regarding Binance’s compliance with ongoing requirements. The letter concluded as follows: These reports make it more important than ever that the public understand the Trump Administration’s interactions with, and relationship to, Binance and its employees. We therefore once again request meaningful answers to the questions above by no later than October 1, 2025. Related Reading: Coinbase Vs. BNB Chain (BNB) has reached a historic milestone after its native token, BNB, broke past the $1,000 mark for the first time. The achievement comes on the heels of the Federal Reserve’s decision to cut interest rates by 25bps, a move widely seen as supportive for risk assets. The broader crypto market quickly responded, entering what many analysts describe as a new, more constructive phase with optimism for the weeks ahead. Related Reading: Bitcoin Advanced Sentiment Signals Bullish Edge As Traders Eye Fed Pivot The milestone carries symbolic weight, marking BNB’s transformation from a utility token to one of the most valuable assets in the digital economy. The surge reinforces Binance’s dominance as the largest exchange by trading volume, while highlighting the platform’s growing ecosystem, which continues to expand across DeFi, payments, and blockchain infrastructure. Co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) reflected on the moment in a post on X, writing: “Watching BNB go from $0.10 ICO price 8 years ago to today’s $1000 is something words cannot explain. I, not representing any entity or title, as just a community member and a #BNB holder, thank everyone in the BNB and crypto ecosystem, for your support.” BNB Chain (BNB) Enters Uncharted Territory With Momentum BNB chain’s native token has surged more than 65% since June, cementing its position as one of the strongest performers in the current bull cycle. What makes this rally particularly notable is its relative strength against the broader market, a trend that began in late 2023 and has only accelerated in recent months. While many altcoins experienced prolonged corrections and uneven recoveries, BNB has consistently defended key levels, building a resilient foundation for its breakout past the $1,000 milestone. With a market capitalization of around $140 billion, BNB has secured its spot as the 5th largest cryptocurrency in the world, surpassing long-time competitors and reaffirming its status as a cornerstone of the digital asset ecosystem. This remarkable achievement highlights the token’s dual role: as both a utility asset within Binance’s vast ecosystem and as a store of value increasingly favored by institutional and retail investors. The coming weeks are expected to be decisive as BNB enters uncharted price territory. Optimism surrounding the market is high, with analysts pointing to the favorable macroeconomic backdrop—most recently reinforced by the Federal Reserve’s 25bps rate cut—as a catalyst for further growth. However, entering new highs also brings challenges, as volatility often spikes in discovery zones. The weekly chart shows a clean breakout from prior resistance zones, with momentum accelerating over the past several weeks. This surge highlights strong demand and institutional accumulation, especially following the Fed’s 25bps rate cut, which has acted as a catalyst for renewed optimism across the market. The chart reveals a well-structured rally with BNB consistently respecting its 50-week moving average, which now acts as a reliable dynamic support around $680. Both the 100-week ($572) and 200-week ($443) moving averages are trending higher, underscoring the token’s long-term strength and confirming a bullish market structure. Importantly, the recent breakout places BNB in uncharted territory, leaving price discovery as the next phase. Conversely, if selling pressure intensifies, support levels around $850 and $780 could be retested. Featured image from Dall-E, chart from TradingView
Binance Coin (BNB), the native token of the world’s largest crypto exchange by trading volume, Binance, surged to a new all-time high on Tuesday, driven by speculation surrounding a potential agreement between Binance and the US Department of Justice (DOJ). This development comes in the wake of ongoing discussions regarding compliance monitoring requirements tied to Binance’s significant $4.3 billion settlement related to allegations of insufficient measures to prevent money laundering. Binance Negotiates With DOJ According to a report by Bloomberg, the crypto exchange is negotiating with federal prosecutors over the possibility of eliminating a key oversight condition that mandates the retention of an external compliance monitor. Related Reading: Analyst Raises Red Flags On Bitcoin Price: Allegations Of Market Manipulation Sources familiar with the confidential discussions indicated that a successful negotiation could lead to a notable shift in the Department of Justice’s approach to independent oversight, particularly as the agency has already started to reduce the number of monitors initially appointed during the Biden administration. Under President Donald Trump’s administration, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), have been among the regulators shifting their stance towards digital assets. For instance, the SEC has opted to drop enforcement cases against Coinbase, Uniswap, Robinhood, and Binance. This comes after a harsh crackdown on the industry over the past couple of years, which resulted in the resignation of the exchange’s former CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ). BNB Outperforms Market The potential deal between Binance and the US Department of Justice has generated considerable demand for BNB tokens, contributing to the altcoin’s price rally which surpasses growth of 12% on the monthly time frame. In a recent post on X, crypto analyst Pumpius argued that the recent drop in XRP’s price is not natural but the result of deliberate actions by Binance. According to him, the exchange wants to protect its position because the digital currency poses a threat to the system it has built over the years. He says the exchange is doing more than just selling tokens; it is working to hold XRP back. Binance Accused Of Coordinating XRP Price Suppression Pumpius says Binance is not only selling XRP but is also actively manipulating the market around it. He points to sudden drops in liquidity, heavy waves of sell pressure, and red flashes on charts that appear whenever there’s an announcement of positive Ripple news. He claims this is not a coincidence but evidence of coordination and a strategy to keep XRP from breaking out. Related Reading: Dogecoin Price Set For Explosive Rally If This Structure Holds The analyst stresses that the real reason Binance targets XRP is that it is different. XRP is not a meme or speculative bet but a payment infrastructure. Pumpius argues it could replace the liquidity pools that Binance has used for years, and if that happens, the exchange’s market-making business could crumble. He also warns that it is not only Binance that is involved. According to him, powerful investors, legacy financial players, and offshore networks all see XRP as a threat. He says that because XRP runs on transparent rails, it could expose money flows they prefer to keep hidden. Therefore, price suppression becomes their primary tool to slow down the process. Why Suppression Could Backfire As XRP Price Fundamentals Strengthen Despite these heavy claims, Pumpius argues that the pressure on XRP may backfire. The crypto expert points to Ripple and its ecosystem, noting that the fundamentals are strengthening every day. New payment corridors are opening in Japan and the UAE. Projects such as DNA Protocol are using the XRP Ledger to anchor IDs and even genetic data. Related Reading: Crypto Adviser For The Ultra Wealthy Tells XRP Investors What To Do As Coins Turn To Real Money Pumpius believes this shows the suppression is artificial. The fundamentals are exploding, he says, while the adverse price action comes from deliberate dumping. He adds that every time Binance sells, more XRP moves into self-custody wallets. Instead of weakening the community, this decentralizes the asset even more. Holders are preparing for the day when real utility drives demand at a scale far beyond speculation. In his view, when that switch flips, Binance’s paper games will be meaningless compared to trillion-dollar settlement flows. He warns that the exchange may think it is winning now, but it’s only exposing the truth about the digital currency. XRP, he says, is not just a trader’s coin. It is the backbone of a new financial order. And according to him, no amount of dumping can stop already living rails. Featured image from Dall.E, chart from TradingView.com
Binance is once again in the spotlight as its native token, BNB, tests a crucial level after recently reaching fresh all-time highs. The momentum has been strong, with bulls showing resilience and holding price action above former resistance, now turned into support. This behavior signals the continuation of a broader bullish trend, one that has defined Binance’s performance through much of 2025. Related Reading: Ethereum Demand Spikes As Whales Add 260K ETH In 24 Hours However, what makes this moment even more significant is not only the price but also the underlying fundamentals of the BNB ecosystem. Top analyst Darkfost highlighted a major milestone that underscores BNB’s growing adoption. The BNB Chain has officially crossed 650 million unique addresses—wallets that have carried out transactions on the network. This achievement is a true testament to the scale of Binance’s reach in the blockchain space and highlights the network’s growing importance in global crypto adoption. Such growth in user activity mirrors the strong price action seen this year, reinforcing the narrative that BNB remains one of the most widely used and trusted blockchains in the industry. With bulls defending critical levels and network adoption soaring, Binance now faces a pivotal stage that could determine the sustainability of its current bullish trend. Binance Adoption And Market Outlook According to Darkfost, Binance’s latest milestone of surpassing 650 million unique addresses is more than just a number—it is a testament to adoption, user activity, and the strong interest surrounding the Binance ecosystem. This achievement underscores how deeply embedded BNB has become within the broader blockchain space, solidifying its reputation as one of the most widely used networks globally. From a market perspective, Binance continues to stand out as one of the few altcoins that has already exceeded its previous 2021 all-time highs, doing so back in June 2024. This makes BNB unique compared to most other large-cap cryptocurrencies, which are still battling to reclaim their former peaks. Holding above these levels reinforces investor confidence and highlights the strength of its underlying fundamentals, especially given the network’s rapid adoption and consistent activity growth. Analysts broadly agree that the uptrend for BNB is intact and likely to continue if adoption metrics remain strong. However, there is a recognition that broader market conditions could still introduce risk. A potential correction across crypto markets could bring BNB back to retest lower support levels, even if its fundamentals remain solid. For now, the balance between bullish momentum and market-wide caution will define Binance’s short-term trajectory. Related Reading: Bitcoin Mirrors Historical Pullback Ranges – Healthy Correction Or Trouble Ahead? BNB Price Testing Momentum After ATH The chart shows Binance Coin (BNB) trading around $853 after pulling back slightly from recent highs near $880. Despite the correction, BNB remains firmly above its key moving averages, with the 50-day SMA trending strongly upward and providing dynamic support around the $780–$800 region. This setup reflects a healthy bullish structure, with the coin consolidating after an extended rally. The breakout above $800 earlier in August marked a critical moment, pushing BNB into new all-time high territory not seen since June 2024. While short-term momentum has cooled, the higher lows established since mid-July suggest that bulls are maintaining control. For now, immediate resistance lies at $880, the recent peak, while support rests at $820 and further down at $780. Related Reading: Binance Network Activity Outpaces Ethereum As Active Addresses Double Since April If BNB holds above the $820–$800 zone, the bullish case remains intact, with a possible retest of the $900 level in the coming weeks. However, a break below $780 could invite a deeper correction toward $700, especially if broader market conditions turn risk-off. BNB remains one of the strongest large-cap performers, but volatility will likely persist as it tests this new range. Featured image from Dall-E, chart from TradingView
Binance has been one of the strongest performers in the crypto market since 2024, consistently setting new highs and establishing itself as a leader among altcoins. Now, BNB sits quietly just below its all-time high of $900, consolidating as bulls continue to show resilience despite broader market uncertainty. The recent pullback in Bitcoin, which fell below key demand levels, has fueled volatility across the market, but Binance has managed to hold its ground, signaling underlying strength. Related Reading: Galaxy Digital Sells 1,167 Bitcoin Amid Ongoing Volatility Adding to this bullish narrative, top analyst Darkfost shared fresh data highlighting a surge in network activity. Since April 2025, the number of active addresses on the BNB network has more than doubled, a striking sign of adoption and usage growth. Today, daily active addresses range between 2 million and 2.5 million, with some spontaneous spikes exceeding 3 million. This robust activity places Binance ahead of other major blockchains, including Ethereum and Bitcoin, when measured by network usage. The growing demand for the BNB chain, coupled with its ability to maintain price stability near record highs, points to strong fundamentals. As adoption accelerates, Binance may be setting the stage for another breakout in the months ahead. Binance Network Activity Surges As Altcoins Prepare For Next Phase According to Darkfost, Binance’s blockchain has quietly moved into a position of dominance in terms of activity, surpassing even some of the most established networks. When compared to Ethereum, Bitcoin, or newer competitors like Base, BNB now leads with a significantly higher number of active addresses. Since April 2025, active daily addresses on the Binance network have consistently ranged between 2 million and 2.5 million, with occasional spikes exceeding 3 million. This doubling of user activity highlights a remarkable growth trajectory for the chain, reinforcing its role as one of the most widely used blockchains in the market. This surge in active addresses has coincided with a sharp increase in transactions. During the same period, daily transactions on the BNB chain have nearly tripled, fluctuating between 10 million and 14 million per day. What’s more impressive is that this growth has come with a relatively low transaction failure rate, reflecting both the efficiency and scalability of the network. Looking ahead, the coming months are expected to be critical for altcoins. Ethereum is currently leading the way with whale accumulation and strong network activity, but large-cap assets like Binance Coin (BNB) are preparing to follow. If current adoption trends persist, BNB could consolidate its position as one of the strongest players in the next stage of the cycle, potentially setting the stage for new highs once broader market volatility stabilizes. Related Reading: Solana Investors Cash Out Nearly $1-B As SOL Tests Key Price Level BNB Consolidates Near Record Highs BNB is trading at $863.7, holding steady just below its all-time high near $900, as shown in the chart. After a strong rally through July and early August, BNB entered a consolidation phase where bulls are defending higher ground while sellers attempt to cap momentum. The 50-day moving average (blue line) is trending sharply upward, reflecting strong short-term momentum, while the 100-day (green) and 200-day (red) moving averages provide solid underlying support in the $730–$670 zone. The chart also highlights that BNB’s recent rally has created a tight consolidation channel between $850 and $875, suggesting that the market is pausing before deciding its next move. A confirmed breakout above $900 would likely trigger a push into price discovery, potentially extending gains if broader market conditions stabilize. On the downside, losing $850 could open a path to retest the $800 level, where the rising 50-day moving average converges with prior support. Related Reading: Ethereum Leads Market While Altcoins Lose Ground – Details BNB’s structure remains bullish, but momentum has cooled after the sharp rally. Traders are closely watching whether consolidation leads to another leg higher, especially as network fundamentals and activity remain strong. According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is facing significant challenges as its market share continues to decline. In September, Binance’s share of trading volume in the roughly $2 trillion digital asset market fell to 36.6%, down sharply from 42.7% at the start of the year and the lowest level in four years, according to data from CCData. Binance Spot And Derivatives Trading Hits Four-Year Lows The drop in market share is particularly pronounced in both the spot and derivatives trading arenas. Binance’s 27% share of the spot market represents its lowest level since January 2021, while its derivatives trading share stands at 40.7%, also the lowest in four years. Related Reading: Crypto Analyst Maintains $7.50 XRP Target Despite SEC Appeal Against Ripple Per the report, this decline can be attributed to the legal saga that the exchange has been experiencing globally since last year, but particularly in the US, which has not only had a notable impact on the exchange’s financial metrics, but has also led to changes in its leadership. The company has been under increased scrutiny globally, following a settlement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) last year over serious charges, including sanctions violations, which resulted in a hefty $4 billion fine. The fallout from these regulatory actions included the resignation of co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ), who served four months in prison as part of the proceedings. However, the former CEO was released by US authorities last Friday after serving his sentence. In an effort to rebuild trust and navigate the regulatory landscape, Binance appointed Richard Teng, a former regulator, as its new CEO. Teng has been actively engaged with regulators investigating Binance in various jurisdictions, while also appointing a new board of directors and the intentions of establishing a new headquarter. Centralized Crypto Exchanges Face 17% Volume Drop The report further highlights that the broader market for centralized crypto exchanges is also facing challenges, with combined spot and derivatives trading volumes dropping 17% in September. However, this decline is typical for the month, which is often seasonally weak, but it has resulted in the lowest monthly trading activity since June. Notably, Binance has seen the most severe market-share decline among top exchanges, as competitors such as Bybit, Bitget, and Crypto.com have begun to capture a larger share of the market.
