The industry’s largest stablecoin issuer, Tether (USDT), is reportedly in discussions with a series of leading firms including SoftBank Group and Ark Investment Management, for a significant funding round aimed at raising between $15 billion and $20 billion.  This capital influx could potentially value the company at an astonishing $500 billion. Bloomberg News first reported these developments, indicating that Tether is exploring private placement opportunities to solidify its position in the market. SoftBank And Ark Invest’s Potential Involvement Per the report, the involvement of SoftBank and Ark could significantly enhance Tether’s credibility in the eyes of mainstream investors, particularly as the company seeks to overcome previous scrutiny regarding its role in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Amidst this search for funding, Tether is also expanding its investment horizons beyond digital assets, venturing into sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications, cloud computing, and real estate.  Related Reading: Dogecoin (DOGE) On The Brink Of A Major Breakout: 800% Rally In Sight Adding to the momentum, Tether recently appointed Bo Hines, a former advisor to President Trump on cryptocurrency matters, as CEO of its US division.  This move aligns with Tether’s vision to establish a new operation in the US, adhering to the new regulatory environment, particularly following the introduction of a new dollar-pegged cryptocurrency aimed at businesses and institutions, dubbed “USAT.”  Tether And US Regulatory Standards As NewsBTC reported recently, the new token adheres to the regulatory framework established by the GENIUS Act, the first stablecoin legislation signed into law by President Trump, highlighting Tether’s focus on aligning with US regulatory standards. ARK Expands Its Holdings According to ARK’s trading disclosures on August 27, the firm bought 339,113 BitMine shares spread across three ETFs. The ARK Innovation ETF acquired 227,569 shares valued at a little over $10 million, while the Next Generation Internet ETF added 70,991 shares worth $3.27 million. The Fintech Innovation ETF purchased another 40,553 shares for $1.87 million. Despite this fresh round of buying, BitMine shares ended the day at $46 before sliding 7.80% in extended trading. Its balance sheet now holds 1,714,000 ETH, worth about $8.20 billion, alongside 192 Bitcoin and $562 million in cash. That makes BitMine the world’s largest corporate holder of Ethereum. Billionaire investor Peter Thiel has also taken a 9% stake, adding more weight to the firm’s rapid rise. According to latest data, the company’s strategy has fueled sharp price movements in its stock. After surging more than 3,000% to a record high of $135 in early July, shares remain up more than 400% year-to-date despite recent pullbacks. Massive Equity Offering Fuels Expansion Reports have disclosed that BitMine dramatically expanded its fundraising plans. On August 12, the company filed to boost its at-the-market equity offering from $2 billion to $24.5 billion, a move led by Cantor Fitzgerald and ThinkEquity. Observers say the new funds will give BitMine more firepower to build its Ethereum position. Analysts projected strong gains for Ethereum, predicting $5,500 in the near term and as high as $12,000 by year-end. If those targets materialize and BitMine pushes toward its 5% supply goal, the company could one day rival Michael Saylor’s Strategy in scale. Related Reading: Dogecoin Gears Up For Triple Surge Vs. The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, has notably been on a Bitcoin selling spree throughout this week, triggering a wave of sell-offs in the process. These sales have occurred due to the outflows that the asset manager has witnessed from its BTC ETF.  BlackRock Dumps Around $500 Million In Bitcoin Arkham data shows that BlackRock has offloaded around $500 million in Bitcoin this week, with transfers to Coinbase, a move that indicates a move to sell these coins. The asset manager has sold these coins following outflows from its iShares Bitcoin ETF, which was the norm throughout this week. Related Reading: BlackRock’s Crypto Holdings Balloon As Bitcoin, Ethereum Reach For New ATHs — Here Are The Numbers SoSo Value data shows that BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF first recorded a daily net outflow of $68.72 million on August 18. The fund then further saw net outflows of $220 million, $127.49 million, and $198.81 million on August 20, 21, and 22, respectively. Notably, the iShares Bitcoin ETF has accounted for most of the outflows, with the BTC ETFs as a group currently on a six-day streak of consecutive net outflows.  These Bitcoin ETFs have seen total net outflows of almost $1.2 billion since August 15. Meanwhile, in just this week alone, over $1.1 billion has left these funds, sparking a bearish sentiment for the BTC price. Given BlackRock’s position as a major player in the Bitcoin ecosystem, outflows from its fund had sparked a wave of sell-offs. This led to a massive decline for the flagship crypto earlier in the week.  The Bitcoin price had dropped to as low as $112,000 this week as BlackRock and other BTC investors took profit on their investments. This followed the flagship crypto’s rally to a new all-time high (ATH) of $124,000 last week. However, BTC has now sharply rebounded on the back of Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech, in which he indicated that a rate cut might happen in September.  An End To The BTC ETF Outflow Streak Notably, Powell’s speech was enough to spark fresh inflows into the Bitcoin ETFs on August 22, with BlackRock the only fund manager that recorded a net outflow on the day. Further data from SoSo Value shows that Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest recorded a daily inflow of $65.47 million, the most among the issuers on the day.  Related Reading: Analyst Warns Investors To Avoid Bitcoin At All Cost As Price Is Going Below $60,000 Meanwhile, Fidelity, Van Eck, Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, and Grayscale recorded inflows of $50.88 million, $26.41 million, $13.51 million, $12.70 million, and $6.42 million, respectively. However, BlackRock recorded an outflow of $198.81 million, which led to a daily net outflow of $23.15 million for the funds as a group. With the Bitcoin price rebounding, these funds, including BlackRock’s IBIT, could return to witnessing significant daily inflows from next week. At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is trading at around $115,900, up over 2% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. SharpLink is rapidly positioning itself as a leader in corporate Ethereum holdings. The company is accelerating its accumulation strategy at unprecedented speed. Combined with its existing ETH holdings, the company might be on track to outpace every other ETH treasury holder in both speed and scale. Why SharpLink’s Ethereum Strategy Could Redefine Corporate Treasuries In an X post, CryptoGucci shared a short clip of Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin’s recent remarks about SharpLink Gaming. Lubin believes that the company isn’t just participating in the race, but it’s about to lap the competition. Related Reading: Ethereum Treasury Companies Go Head To Head As Bitmine Dwarfs SharpLink — Details According to Lubin, SharpLink Gaming (SBET) has rapidly emerged as one of the largest ETH accumulators on the planet, leveraging a strategy that goes far beyond simply holding ETH. The company actively manages its treasury to maximize productivity through staking, restaking, and compounding into some of the most powerful DeFi yield opportunities available. What sets SharpLink apart is its direct backing from the ETH company itself, which is a massive advantage that few competitors can claim. This relationship provides strategic alignment, insider insight, and access to key infrastructure, positioning SharpLink to move faster and more efficiently than any other treasury operator.  The company is managed by some of the best DeFi investors in the world, combining institutional discipline with native crypto expertise. SharpLink’s approach is straightforward yet powerful. The process involves accumulating more ETH than anyone else, deploying it intelligently across high-yield opportunities, and generating steady returns while compounding for the long term. Why Ethereum Is Emerging As The Institutional Protocol Ethereum is gaining mainstream recognition at the institutional level. CryptoGucci has also shared a post where Cathie Wood, the founder and CIO of ARK Invest, laid out a bullish case for why Ethereum is becoming the institutional protocol of choice, which has captured the attention of the crypto and institutional investment communities.   Related Reading: Ethereum Surpasses MasterCard In Asset Rankings, Bullish Targets Set Wood highlighted that major infrastructure developments are signaling ETH dominance. Coinbase L2 is built on ETH, Robinhood L2 leverages ETH, and the ongoing stablecoin that is predominantly occurring on the ETH network. Unlike Bitcoin treasuries, ETH treasuries offer both utility and staking opportunities, while creating a more productive institutional asset. ETH may carry slightly higher costs and operate at a slower speed than some alternatives, but its decentralization and security make it the most resilient and reliable choice for institutional adoption. This foundational robustness is enabling ARK ETFs to take their first substantial positions in ETH, while marking a pivotal moment for institutional adoption. ARK has also strategically invested in Tom Lee’s BitMine (BMNR), which is currently the largest ETH treasury in the world, while signaling an alignment between traditional investment strategies and Ethereum-based infrastructure. Wood concluded that the foundation of the next financial system is being laid out in real time, and it’s all happening on ETH. Featured image from Getty Images, chart from Tradingview.com

Spot Bitcoin ETFs See Major Withdrawals Based on reports, the total assets under management across all spot Bitcoin ETFs now stand at $146.48 billion. That represents just 6.46% of Bitcoin’s overall market capitalization. Leading the sell-off was Fidelity’s FBTC, which saw redemptions of $331 million. Close behind was ARK Invest’s ARKB, with $327.93 million exiting the fund. The Bitcoin ETFs had $812M worth of outflows yesterday. The 2nd largest outflow day in history. Should we be worried? pic.twitter.com/YdiPolJODE — Mister Crypto (@misterrcrypto) August 3, 2025   Grayscale’s GBTC recorded $67 million in outflows, and BlackRock’s IBIT faced a comparatively small pull-back of $2.58 million. Even with big redemptions, institutions have not stepped away completely. There is a sense that they are simply shifting tactics. Trading Volumes Hold Up Strong According to trading data, daily turnover across all spot Bitcoin ETFs surged to $6.13 billion on the same day. BlackRock’s IBIT alone accounted for $4.50 billion of that figure. Such high volume suggests that buyers and sellers are still very active. It points to a market where investors are fine-tuning positions rather than abandoning them. Futures, discounted funds like GBTC, or alternative crypto products could be where some capital is moving. Ethereum ETFs Break Inflow Streak Reports have disclosed that spot Ether ETFs ended a 20-day inflow streak with net outflows of $152 million last Friday. That streak was the longest the Ether products have ever seen. Grayscale’s ETHE led the outflows with $47.68 million leaving the fund. Bitwise’s ETHW saw $40.30 million in redemptions, while Fidelity’s FETH lost $6.17 million. BlackRock’s ETHA held steady, reporting $10.71 billion in assets under management. Related Reading: No Gold? Two weeks earlier, on July 16, these same funds posted their highest single-day inflow of $727 million, followed by another $602 million on July 17. Featured image from Meta, chart from TradingView

The percentage of Bitcoin’s long-term holders’ supply has reached a 15-year high, providing a bullish outlook for the flagship crypto. Asset manager Ark Invest highlighted this development in a recent report and explained what this could mean for BTC going forward.  Bitcoin Long-Term Holders Supply Hit 74% According to the Ark Invest report, the long-term holders’ supply has reached 74% of Bitcoin’s total supply, marking a 15-year high for this metric. The asset manager noted that this trend indicates growing market conviction in BTC’s role as a store of value or “digital gold.” These long-term holders refer to addresses that have held for 155 days or longer.  Related Reading: Michael Saylor Reveals The Only Thing ‘Better Than Bitcoin’ As MSTR Stock Outperforms This development comes at a time when Bitcoin is witnessing massive demand from institutional investors through the ETFs and treasury companies. These investors are considered better ‘diamond-hands’ than retail investors, which means that this metric could keep rising, with long-term holders gaining more control of BTC’s total supply.  This institutional buying has also driven the Bitcoin price to several all-time highs (ATHs) this year, with BTC reaching as high as $123,000 last week. The flagship crypto appears to still be in price discovery, as ETFs led by BlackRock and treasury companies, led by Saylor’s Strategy, continue to accumulate at an unprecedented pace.  Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest is ultra bullish on the Bitcoin price, predicting that it could reach $1.5 million by 2030. They expect BTC to reach this target due to the rising institutional investment and global recognition of Bitcoin’s ability to serve as a store of value. In a CNBC interview, Cathie Wood also doubled down on this prediction.  She explained that they expect BTC to take a significant share from gold or grow the store of value market. Wood added that institutions are still just testing the waters despite the massive accumulation so far. As such, she still expects a rise in adoption for these companies. Meanwhile, only about 1 million unmined Bitcoins are remaining.  Other Bullish Metrics For BTC The Ark Invest report also revealed that global liquidity per bitcoin reached a 12-year high. This metric reached this high with $5.7 million in global M2 supply per BTC in circulation. The asset manager remarked that this ratio could continue to rise given Bitcoin’s diminishing future supply growth and the continued expansion of global liquidity.
