XRP is making its boldest move yet into mainstream finance as two of the biggest names in traditional finance are stepping deeper into crypto. The CME Group and Nasdaq have announced plans to introduce a new crypto index futures product, and XRP is included in the basket. The contract will give institutional investors regulated access to a range of digital assets through a single product, opening the door to the trillion-dollar Wall Street market. CME And Nasdaq To Launch XRP-Inclusive Crypto Index Futures In a landmark move, the CME Group and Nasdaq are set to launch the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index Futures on June 8, marking the first-ever market-cap-weighted crypto index futures contract. The single cash-settled product will give institutional investors regulated exposure to a basket of digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar. Related Reading: If You’re Holding XRP, This Pundit Says You Should See This Crypto expert Pumpius was among the few analysts to speak about the development on X, describing it as a turning point for XRP and the broader crypto market. He noted that XRP is now being integrated into Wall Street as traditional finance goes all-in on digital assets. For XRP holders in particular, Pumpius said the token is finally transitioning from a speculative asset to a core institutional holding. Adding more context to the recent development, market analyst Ripplexity said that crypto futures volume at CME has skyrocketed by 43% so far this year, reflecting just how high the demand is for regulated crypto products. He also said that the upcoming index futures contract will be settled using the Nasdaq CME Crypto Settlement Price Index, which already includes XRP. CME Moves To 24/7 Trading Ahead Of June Launch Crypto analyst SMQKE offered a broader view of the new milestone and its implications for the crypto industry. He described the CME Group as the world’s largest and most important derivatives exchange, noting that its partnership with Nasdaq could bring institutional capital into the altcoin market through a fully regulated channel. Related Reading: Market Analyst Outlines How The XRP Price Will Reach $300 And What Everyone Is Missing SMQKE also highlighted a major operational change happening before the June index launch. Starting May 29, the CME Group will reportedly shift its crypto futures and options trading to a 24/7 schedule, a move designed to match the round-the-clock nature of crypto markets. The analyst said that this will be a massive shift and a clear example of how fast the traditional finance sector is catching up to crypto technology. SMQKE also pointed out that XRP, Stellar, and Cardano are all ISO 20022-compliant tokens and that their inclusion in this derivatives product signals a deeper integration into mainstream finance. As the June 8 date approaches, market participants are still waiting on regulatory approval from the CFTC. According to SMQKE, the CME and Nasdaq partnership is likely to pave the way for further institutional adoption of digital assets and decentralized technologies. CME Group, the world’s largest derivatives marketplace, is expanding its footprint in crypto with the launch of new futures contracts tied to Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM). In a blog post published Monday, the exchange confirmed that the crypto contracts went live on February 9, marking another step in the steady buildout of its regulated cryptocurrency product suite. New Futures And Index Launch Plan With the addition of ADA, LINK and XLM, CME now offers futures products covering seven major crypto assets. According to the company’s own estimates, the expanded lineup represents exposure to more than 75% of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization. Related Reading: Bitcoin And Ethereum Prices Are Recovering Again, But Will The US-Israel War Derail It? The new crypto contracts are cash-settled and reference the CME CF Reference Rates. Each token is available in both standard and micro-sized contracts, allowing for participation from a broad range of institutional and smaller market participants. The first LINK and XLM futures trades were executed between FalconX and Marex, while the inaugural ADA transactions took place between Cumberland DRW and Wintermute. In addition to the new token-specific contracts, CME revealed plans to roll out a Nasdaq CME Crypto Index futures product, targeted for launch on March 16, pending regulatory approval. Crypto Derivatives Hit Record Volumes In 2025 In its blog post, the company also highlighted the rapid growth of its crypto derivatives business. In 2025, CME recorded a milestone year for its digital asset product suite, reporting an average daily volume of 278,300 contracts. The derivatives exchange giant's switch to around-the-clock crypto trading will have a visible impact on liquidity and volatility on weekends, analysts said.
The initiative is part of CME's push into tokenized collateral, and the firm is collaborating with Google on a “tokenized cash” solution set to launch later this year.
CME's overall average daily volume across asset classes hit an all-time high of 28.1 million contracts, with crypto being a key contributor.
These are CME’s smallest crypto contracts to date, aimed at active participants who prefer to trade in spot market terms without managing contract expiries or rollovers.
The open interest in XRP and Solana (SOL) futures and options has reached a record $3 billion on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). According to the CME data, this remarkable milestone was reached during Monday’s session, which saw both XRP and Solana reach their highest level of participation. Both cryptocurrencies have gained traction among institutional investors, who are now treating XRP and Solana as serious alternatives to Bitcoin and Ethereum in the derivatives market. CME’s Record $3 Billion Milestone Data from CME Group reveals that open interest in XRP and Solana futures has climbed to about $3 billion in total value. The figure captures the total capital tied up in active contracts, serving as one of the best indicators of investor activity and confidence. Related Reading: Why This Analyst Is More Bullish On XRP Over Ethereum For The Short-Term CME data shows that around 9,900 XRP contracts and 17,400 Solana futures contracts were opened during this surge of high activity, including both standard and micro versions. This achievement comes less than a year after CME introduced these products. Solana futures launched in March 2025 and quickly rose to prominence, followed by XRP futures in May. Both have now joined the ranks of the exchange’s most traded crypto derivatives, competing directly with Bitcoin and Ethereum futures. This record milestone is part of a growing interest in its digital currency instruments. Tim McCourt, Global Head of Equities, FX, and Alternative Products at CME, noted that the exchange has witnessed intense client demand for nonstop trading. In response, the CME Group had revealed plans to make cryptocurrency futures and options available for trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week, starting from early 2026, although pending approval. The increase in open interest highlights how XRP and Solana now dominate the altcoin derivatives scene on CME. Solana futures surpassed $1 billion in open interest by August 2025, just five months after their launch, while XRP futures achieved the same within three months. Recent data shows that XRP futures on the CME reached a notional volume of $26.9 billion in October and over 567,000 contracts traded within six months of trading. Institutional Interest In XRP And Solana The record in open interest follows CME’s introduction of options on XRP and Solana futures to expand its cryptocurrency derivatives portfolio beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. This expansion allows traders to access options on SOL, Micro-SOL, XRP, and Micro-XRP futures, each offering daily, monthly, and quarterly expirations to meet different trading strategies. Related Reading: Ethereum and Solana Price Ready To Send Hard? Open interest across CME’s regulated markets jumped 27% since Oct. 10, signaling growing conviction among large traders.
The move, pending regulatory approval, would align trading on the key institutional derivatives marketplace with the nonstop nature of crypto markets.
Demand for XRP on the CME derivatives exchange continues to rise, providing a bullish outlook for the altcoin. This comes ahead of the potential approval of the XRP ETFs, which could further spark institutional demand for XRP. CME XRP Futures Hit New Milestone In an X post, the CME group announced that it has hit its four-month milestone for XRP futures, with a notional trading volume of $18.3 billion, 6 billion XRP traded, and 397,000 contracts traded. This again highlights the demand for the altcoin, with the derivatives exchange previously stating that the altcoin’s futures products have shown demand from both institutional and retail participants. Related Reading: Institutional Investors Are Heavily Accumulating XRP And Solana – Here Are The Numbers Notably, the CME XRP futures crossed $1 billion in open interest (OI) last month, with the altcoin becoming the fastest-ever contract to do so, having hit the mark in just three months. Amid the demand for the altcoin on the derivatives exchange, CME has announced plans to launch options trading on the XRP futures on October 13. This is expected to further boost the demand on the CME exchange, which is a positive for the altcoin. This new milestone for XRP futures comes just ahead of the potential launch of XRP ETFs under the 33 Act, which will also elevate institutional interest in the altcoin. Fund issuers are expected to file amendments for their respective funds as soon as the end of this week. This comes amid the SEC’s approval of the generic listing standards, which could enable these XRP ETFs to launch earlier. If that doesn’t happen, the focus will shift to Grayscale’s October 18 deadline, which is the first final deadline among all seven XRP filings. The commission could approve these funds simultaneously, just as it did with the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Massive Demand Expected For The ETFs It is worth mentioning that market expert Nate Geraci had previously alluded to the success of the CME XRP futures as one of the reasons he believes people are underestimating the demand the spot XRP ETFs may record. He also noted at the time that there was already over $800 million in futures-based XRP ETFs. Related Reading: XRP Goes Head-To-Head With Bitcoin In This Metric As South Korean Market Wakes Up In another X post, Geraci doubled down on his statement that people are “severely” underestimating the investor demand for the spot XRP ETFs. He noted how a similar thing happened with the spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, which have so far exceeded expectations. Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg also has high expectations for the XRP ETFs, predicting that they could record up to $5 billion in inflows in their first month. He also believes that they could outperform the Ethereum ETFs in the process. At the time of writing, the altcoin price is trading at around $2.75, down over 3% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from iStock, chart from Tradingview.com

XRP Open interest on the CME Group has reached a new all-time high (ATH), presenting a bullish outlook for the altcoin. This further underscores the massive demand for XRP exposure among institutional investors, which could serve as a catalyst for higher prices. CME XRP Futures Open Interest Hit News ATH In an X post, the CME Group revealed that the XRP futures have hit an all-time high in open interest with over 6,000 contracts on August 18, just before their three-month anniversary. The derivatives platform further remarked that this development is a clear sign of growing conviction in the market. Related Reading: XRP On-Chain Activity Explodes By 500%, What’s Going On? Since launching in May, these CME XRP futures have seen over 251,000 contracts traded, a trading volume of $9.02 billion, and $12 million in their XRP equivalent. In July, these XRP futures set a record of $235 million traded in just one day. These futures products have enjoyed massive demand since they launched, underscoring the huge interest in the altcoin among traditional finance (TradFi) investors. This is bullish for the XRP price, considering that activity in the derivatives market also impacts price action. Meanwhile, Coinglass data also shows that traders are currently betting heavily on XRP in the derivatives market. The altcoin’s trading volume has surged over 142% to $16.46 billion. Open interest has surged 8% to $8 billion. Furthermore, the record highs in the CME XRP futures open interest indicate that the spot XRP ETFs will record massive demand among TradFi investors once they launch. The absence of a spot XRP fund for now has meant that these investors have to invest in the futures products and ETFs to gain exposure to the altcoin. The prospective XRP ETF issuers recently amended the S-1 for their respective funds, which market expert Nate Geraci described as a “very good sign.” The Altcoin Eyes Rebounds As Buyers Step In In an X post, crypto analyst CasiTrades stated that buyers have stepped in and that the next stop for the altcoin is $3.21. The analyst remarked that bullish momentum came across the market just as the XRP price dipped below the consolidation pattern. With this, she indicated that the altcoin is unlikely to retest $2.77 before it continues its uptrend. Related Reading: XRP Price Could Explode To $3.8 Amid Trend Continuation CasiTrades stated that the short-term path points to $3.21 as the next major resistance and not the previous $3.41 resistance target. She declared that the current momentum is very strong and expects only a brief pause at that resistance before the altcoin rallies higher. The analyst noted that the brief pause could lead to a retest of the top of the consolidation near $3.168. At the time of writing, the XRP price is trading at around $3.02, up over 5% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from Getty Images, chart from Tradingview.com
The XRP price is eyeing a surge of 20% as it looks to reach a major resistance zone at $2.50, providing a bullish outlook for the altcoin. This projection comes amid XRP’s pullback to retest the breakout zone, with a confirmation of this breakout likely to lead to new highs. XRP Price Eyes 20% Surge To $2.51 In a TradingView post, crypto analyst Liam indicated that the XRP price could soon rally to the key resistance level at $2.15803. The analyst highlighted $2.29387 and $2.40995 as the other key resistance levels for the altcoin. Meanwhile, he mentioned that $2.18880 and $2.08373 are the key support zones to keep an eye on. Related Reading: Crypto Analyst Says “XRP Is Dead” Sentiment Is A Lie, Reveals The Truth Liam also commented on the current XRP price action and what needs to happen for the altcoin to reach this $2.51 target. He noted that the altcoin recently broke above a key consolidation range but is now pulling back to retest the breakout zone. If the support between $2.18880 and $2.08373 holds, then the altcoin could initiate a strong bullish rally towards the resistance zones, with $2.51803 as the major target. The crypto analyst advised market participants to closely monitor price action around the retest zone. He claimed that a strong bullish rejection from support could offer a high-probability long opportunity toward the higher targets. The XRP price currently boasts a bullish outlook, with the broader crypto market witnessing a reversal from recent lows. XRP’s fundamentals also support a price. CME Group recently announced plans to launch XRP futures contracts in May, while ProShares Trust XRP ETF could launch soon, which would also provide institutional investors with exposure to the fourth-largest crypto by market cap. $2.24 Is Also A Major Resistance To Keep An Eye On Crypto analyst CasiTrades suggested that $2.24 is another major resistance level to keep an eye on for the XRP price. She noted that this level has been a key focus for weeks. XRP recently broke above this level as it surged to $2.27 but faced strong rejection, and is now looking to retest $2.24 as resistance. Related Reading: XRP Vs. Bitcoin: Ripple Drops Bombshell On Which One Is Better CasiTrades asserted that price remains vulnerable to deeper support until it can reclaim and close above $2.24. On the bullish side, the analyst claimed that this is a critical area that needs to be respected to keep bullish momentum intact. Crypto analyst Dark Defender assured that XRP will continue to climb to the top. His accompanying chart showed that the altcoin could reach as high as $8 in this market cycle. At the time of writing, the XRP price is trading at around $2.28, up over 5% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Featured image from Pixabay, chart from Tradingview.com
The XRP price rallied again to $2.22 after a relief rally rocked Bitcoin and the crypto market. This was fueled by comments from US President Donald Trump that the tariffs on China are expected to be significantly reduced, even though they would not be zero. In the aftermath of this recovery, though, the XRP price has begun to retrace, suggesting that a local top may have been reached. However, some developments for XRP could see a kickstart to the bull rally. CME Group Announces XRP Futures Launch The XRP community has been rocked by positive news once again after the CME Group announced that it would be launching a futures contracts investment vehicle for XRP. The derivatives exchange seems to be taking advantage of the hype around the XRP price over the last few months, especially with the conclusion of the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit on the horizon. Related Reading: Bitcoin Sees Largest ETF Inflows Since January, Becomes 5th Largest Asset In The World CME Group revealed that the futures contracts would be a cash-settled one, allowing investors to be able to bet on the XRP price rising or going down. This is akin to the Bitcoin futures launched back in October 2021, setting the stage for the approval of Spot Bitcoin ETFs later in January 2024. The exchange revealed that it plans to launch the very first XRP futures contract on May 19th if the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) gives its approval. This news has been positively received in the XRP community, with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse calling it “an incredibly important and exciting step in the continued growth of the XRP market.” Additionally, the XRP price jumped above $2.2 in response to the news.
